Here are a few Marion to the Eastern Conference trades. If one of them had to happen, what would be your top choice?

Trade 1
Marion and Banks to Miami for Jason Williams, Udonis Haslem and Dorrel Wright.

Trade 2
Marion to Milwaukee for Villanueva, Gadzuric and Simmons.

Trade 3
Marion to Detroit for Tayshaun Prince, Nazr Mohhamed and Lindsay Hunter

Trade 4
Marion to Philadelphia for Andre Miller, Kyle Korver and Steven Hunter

Trade 5
Marion to Indianna for Mike Dunleavy, Troy Murphy and Ike Diogu

I think 3 is the best by far, especially when you consider that the Suns wanted Lindsey Hunter last summer anyways.

I don't know why in the world either Phx OR Philly would do 4. Why would the Suns want Andre Miller? And D'Antoni would freak if Hunter was back here.

And why in the world would Philly want Marion? To put ahead of Iggy, Carney and Thaddeus Young? That kind of goes against their rebuilding efforts, not to mention creates a HUGE logjam.

I heard before the draft Lindsey Hunter may retire and get a job in their FO. Has he announced his plans yet?

I also prefer 3 but I dont see detroit biting on that trade at all. Maybe throw in banks and a second rounder ftw.

Yeah, Prince is the superior player of all of that list, but the PHI trade gives us players who fill out our needs: a legit floor general who actually has some run in him, a 3pt shooting ace and a fleet-of-foot shotblocking bigman. The overall package is the best for the Suns. We have enoughsuperior players - we now need to round out our roster....

I'd say 3 too, but how come there isn't a Memphis package up there?

East coast trades only. And for some mindboggling reason, tteenneessee, one of the easternmost states in the union, is in the western conference.

a lot of these trades are heavily favored for the suns, as good as the phi and det trades look, i doubt they bite for just marion

i say we email sarver with the memphis trade proposal:D

I understand the whole East vs. West thing, but trades do happen within the conference.

Its cool.

My eyes instinctively went to the trades without reading the first line about the East.

There aren't enough teams in the W to make a poll.

Those trade proposals made we think the Suns might want to keep Marion.

I hear ya, 3 is the only one that I would consider, and I doubt DET does.

DCR, there are almost as many teams in the West as there are in the East. :doi:

Really, why would DET trade Tayshawn?

They wouldn't.

The main problem with every trade Marion proposal is that they all ignore the reasons why Marion is so valuable to the Suns and not so valuable to other teams. Marion is able to play PF on a running team.

Unless a team is prepared to play Suns style, they have to use Marion at SF where he is not nearly as effective. Prince is not a great offensive threat, but he's better than Marion in the half court and likely the better defender.

Where Marion has it over Prince is at rebounding. Marion was down to just under 10.0 rpg last season while Prince was up to 5.2 rpg. The Pistons are a reasonably good rebounding team and the Suns are a terrible rebounding team, so the Suns cannot give up 4.5 rpg.

As for Mohammed, the Pistons are shopping him for a reason.

The east coast reasoning wasn't anything other than an arbitrary scenario I came up with. I needed some kind of restrictions.

Also, the Miami trade really isn't that bad. We get a guy who could fit very well in our system as a back up point guard, but is a no-risk expiring contract. Dorrel Wright is one of those "he may be good some day" type players and Haslem would be a very useful guy to have on this team. Kind of a youg Kurt Thomas.

It's mindboggling that franchises sometimes relocate from one part of North America to another?

The Griz used to be in Vancover and the Hornets were in Charlotte; both moved.

BTW, am I the only person who thinks it is strange that Jazz play in Utah, knicknamed the "beehive state" and the Hornets play in New Orleans?

I'm with 4 as well, Suns fill their needs with a shot blocker, A true 3 point threat at the 3, and a true PG that can take some of the Load off of Nash.

Just to be different, I might bite on #2 if Villanueva and Gadzuric are healthy and affordable long term. It would give the Suns some help with size on the front line. I really thought Villanueva was an up and comer his rookie season. I'm not sure if anything has changed. I haven't followed Gadzuric much either, but at one time many on this board thought he would be a good fit in Phoenix.

Obviously Tayshaun Prince is the gem of the bunch right now.
