I think we could be sorry down the line that we didn't take Matt Barkley in the 3rd. He might be the smartest and best pro prepared QB we will get a chance to get in many years. I think giving him a couple years to grow and learn behind Palmer would have been super for us for the future. Sort of funny we passed on one of the smartest to take one of the least smart player in the draft with our 3rd pick.

Nice move to drop down in 2nd and get Minter. However, we could have had T'eo. It will be interesting to watch and compare their NFL careers as the years go by. I hope we didn't blow that choice.

Love all the other picks, assuming coach knew the lesser known ones well and what they can do for us. Will love it if our 2nd guard ends up starting for us this year or next.

Stepfan Taylor. I know it was a late round selection but there were better players available when the Cards took him. Including Ellington. QSmith, Brandon Jenkins, Joseph Randle, Oday Abuoshi, Bacarri Rambo, Josh Evans, Chase Thomas and the best guy available, Brad Sorenson.

Other than that I think we did just fine.

Watford to Schwenke. We just missed out on him and it is still killing me.

I was wondering if Okafor would have been there if he was our 2nd 4th rounder.

Definitely the Watford pick. Probably could have taken him in the 5th instead of Stepfan Taylor and picked up Johnathan Franklin in the 4th.

Or.....

Barrett Jones
Shamarko Thomas
Phillip Thomas
John Simon
Jesse Williams

The Watford pick. I think Kiem tried to get too cute trading down. I would have rather them take a flyer on one of the QB's that were still there at #110 or one of the other player. I admit that I don't know much about Watford, but just seemed like a stretch.

Trading down and missing the Alabama center ticked me off

Cards took a guard.. Do t tell me the Alabama center wasn't at the top of their chart...they swung and missed

I don't think you can have a perfect draft but the Cardinals had a very good one. However, the cherry on the cake would have been Schwenke. I'm still happy. Other teams missed out on him too.

2nd

I like Kevin Minter but I would have really liked to have not traded down and just picked Menelik Watson.

It is what it is and that pick we gained became Earl Watford

The more I think about it, knowing we have a coach who is good at developing young QBs, I wish we would have found one he liked to draft. Guess we will never know if he liked Manuel or Glennon who went a bit early or if he had planned to have taken Barkley in the 4th. Or maybe he simply didn't want to be burdened with that in his first year and already having to work with a new QB this year in Palmer.

I don't think you're far off with that guess. He's got his work cut out for him with this line and running game. I think he works those out this year and finds a QB project next when he has the time to focus on developing him

My guess is part of developing young QB's is knowing which ones can be developed?

the thing with Barkley is he's been coached like an NFL QB since he was a kid so I suspect lots of NFL people just don't think he's going to get any better than he already is. Other guys were raw but might lack something here or there that Arians decided made them difficult to develop

I would rather we picked Jamie Collins over Minter but I think Minter is the safer pick. I think Minter will be really good its just OLBs are much harder to find than ILBs.
