This game scares me because it has several earmarks of your classic letdown game. It’s certainly a must win if the Cards still consider themselves playoff contenders. They certainly have left a lot to be desired in previous must win games.

Another concern is whether Murray can shake off his “poor me” blues? Can he convince his team he’s up for this game and ready to crush the Pats? The Pats worry me because they figure to use two tactics that have historically damaged the Cards. Hunter Henry is a solid weapon at TE and the Cards have yet to figure out how to cover that position. Williams runs the risk of being manhandled. Thompson seemingly can only handled receiver rubs by taking a great circle route to his assigned target of coverage. The Pats will try to stuff Henry down the Cards’ throat. Then there’s the inability to collapse a pocket. The Cards rushers tend to attack wide. Their opponent’s tackles push them behind the QB. With the pocket intact, the QB steps up and throws. Alternatively the QB can step up and run. Maye has run far more in the NFL than he did in college. He has been effective. The Cards struggle to stay in their lanes when rushing, often opening up the middle of the field.

I think the first offensive series for each team is crucial. If Murray displays poise, the Cards should march down the field. If he throws an interception, the Cards may fall apart. On defense if the Cards fail to defend the two concerns I’ve highlighted above, this could be a long afternoon.

Despite some holes in the roster, the Cards have far more talent and impact players than the Pats. If the Cards come into this game focused and ready to play, they should win. If they show up taking the Pats for granted, they may be in for a rude surprise. This will be a good game to assess the coaching staff’s ability to get their team ready to play. They’ve failed in this task recently and that issue can become a fatal flaw.

If they continue to treat Murray like a fragile piece of fine china, the offense may struggle. When he was drafted, admittedly by another staff, the Cards emphasized his elusiveness. Standing still is not elusive. I’ve seen little evidence that Murray’s outstanding abilities extend far beyond this elusiveness. The failure to use this skill has often left the Cards attack pedestrian. At this point in the season surely it’s time to turn Murray loose. If not now, when?

Fantastic assessment Harry. I agree with every point you’ve made. My only question is: why does this organization, and the people it hires, continuously fail to identify these flaws and misguided approaches (lack of a pass rush, inability to adequately cover the TE, continued refusal to play to Murray’s strengths)? The only explanation that ever makes sense is the obvious one: an organization that is historically crippled by well-intentioned, but mismanaged leadership that simply cannot recognize its flaws. So, like you, I’m not at all confident of what the effort will be like tomorrow.

I am not worried about the defense at all. I know, unbelievable huh?

The Patriots will take a page from Seattles playbook. They will try to keep Kyler in the pocket. Their pass rushers will keep their lanes. However, will they be able to stop our run game?

This offense stinks and I know the Pats are far from a juggernaut but if the stop our run game it could be a long boring game.

This hasn’t been true for some time. Hockenson had 3 receptions for 28 yards on six targets. Jonnu Smith had four receptions for 20 yards on six targets.

George Kittle got after us a little bit, but the ability for or ILBs and safeties to cover tight ends is the least of my concern.

This opponent can't score like the previous ones. And since we have very little to fight for anymore...... We will win by more than one score.

The post bye 3 game losing streak was disappointing but let’s put it in context.
The Seahawks are better than we give them credit for. They are 8-5 and playing decent football. The Vikings are 11-2 and that doesn’t happen by accident or getting lucky. They are a contender.
The Patriots are 3-10 and we are at home.
Cardinals win this one!

Agree 100%. I really don’t understand why people are so confused about what took place the last 3 weeks. The current Cardinals are not and have never been a finished product. This team is STILL in a major rebuild. The DL is well below average, the interior OL is average, and we don’t have enough speed on our offense to make teams pay when they blitz or throw something exotic at us. Considering the schedule we had this year, I‘m still very happy overall with where we stand. I was hoping that MHJ would have contributed more in year one, but I’m still optimistic that he’ll make major strides in year 2. But, even so, this is a SLOW offense & that has to change going into next year.

You forgot we have an average QB who can't read defenses and is only accurate when throwing less than 10 yards.

This HAS to be a double digit win. I mean it just HAS to. Not that I'm taking the Pats lightly, but all the bravado being displayed when we were winning will have been nothing but hot air. If we're really trying to establish something under this regime, you have to take advantage of a prime opportunity to do so and show the league you're on the right path. No excuses!

I think the 2nd and 3rd ones are much more important. All season long, we seemingly score a TD in the first drive, then do virtually nothing the rest of the half.

Because we could have arguably won the first Seattle game, and should have won the Vikings game. Our playoff chances would be miles better, even if we won one of those games...

This team is still behind in a rebuild because they couldn’t bring a very good young DE back on a reasonable contract and decided not to take the an NFL Defensive Player Of The Year candidate with their 3rd pick, instead trading for a DJ Humphries clone and magic beans.

Neither of those moves would have derailed a rebuild.
