He left on a bad note and then rubbed salt in our wounds while coaching for the Chiefs. Where were you?

I honestly would take him in a heartbeat over Wilks. Even though the Browns are 2-4-1 they have been competitive in all but 1 game. Heck they've already played 4 overtime games this season.

Outside of one lopsided loss (38-14 to the Chargers) they have lost 3 games by a combined 9 total points. The fact that the Browns are competitive every week is amazing in and of itself!

Dave McGinnis had more support from this board after much greater futility. It's wild.

K9 any reasons why?

May be Arians was too much of a shadow for any coach following is the thing that crosses my mind. It is not Arian's fault to be clear.

I think the Cardinals should kick the tires on Cowher and see if he may be interested.

I think Wilks may have ruined any and all Rivera coordinators. Besides, Turner's track record as a head coach isn't wrought with success.
Only reason I said Norv Turner is because of the Cardinals tendency to hire Chargers retreads.

For example, John Pagano is another guy I can see being either HC or DC of the Cardinals in the near future.

I really wanted to give Wilks the benefit of the doubt for one more year... but he is rapidly losing this town. Not sure the fans can tolerate another year of this system.

I agree with this. I briefly covered the topic in another post, so I am just going to copy it into this.

Lincoln Riley led Oklahoma to the final four last season and again this season they are at the top half of the college rankings. I consider Kyle Shanahan as the best offensive play caller in the NFL, and I really believe that Riley is on that same level. He seems so innovative to me. The “problem” could be that Riley is at his first stint as a head coach at any level, and thus he might be deemed to inexperienced and would have to be surrounded by really good veteran coaches. Though, that solution doesn’t sound that bad to me. Riley just got a new contract, but he is not making a lot of money compared to other college coaches. I have no idea what Wilks is making.

Vikings’ offensive coordinator John DeFillipo, and my main reasoning is that the Cards were considered heavily interested in him before hiring Wilks. Offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy from the Chiefs. He has only been in the job for one season (well, not even that yet), and he is not that young compared to the other three. However, Matt Nagy was also only their offensive coordinator for one season before he became the head coach of the Bears, and so far that looks to be going just fine. Andy Reid’s coaching tree is so fantastic. My last choice would be another promotion for Byron Leftwich.

Those are obviously only offensive guys as the trend right now seems to be young offensive coaches. If I would mention some defensive coordinators and special teams coordinators is would, off the top of my head, be Dave Toub, Brian Flores and Matt Burke.

As head coach? Since when? Stealers maybe but not Chargers.

If they go college pool I believe these coaches could make the transition to the NFL and might be willing

1. Lincoln Riley - Oklahoma
2. Kliff Kingsbury -Texas Tech
3. Mike Leach - Washington State( he probably would not be interested but Bill Belichick picks his brain )
4. Kirk Ferentz - Iowa
5. Matt Campbell - Iowa State
6. Matt Ruhle - Baylor
7. Tom Herman - Texas
8. Jeff Brohm _ Purdue
9. Dan Mullen _ Florida
10.Chris Peterson _ Washington

I think what gave Dave more rope is that he bled Cardinal red...he was the coach another team wanted, but he stayed with AZ...he was the ultimate cheerleader on the sidelines and with the media. Wilks looks and actsnlike a confused wet noodle, compared to Dave.

Norv has a much larger history than just 1 year in Carolina. IMO he's a cross between Jim Fassel and Vince Tobin, personality wise.

Whiz is a classic example of the Peter Principle.

He’s among the best OCs in the league every time he’s in that position, but he just can’t seem to get the HC position down, even though he is among the top 2 or 3 coaches we’ve hired since moving to Arizona

I think it shows Rivera’s running the show in Carolina. Wilks was purportedly assistant HC for two years. Based on how he handles the game, what was he doing in Carolina? Making coffee?
