1. I just surfed on in toward the end of Training Camp 2002. I have no specific idea how I ended up here.

2. I started following the Cardinals on August 22, 1976...my day of birth. I had no choice!

3. The best moments have been watching my dad get to the playoffs for only the fourth time in 32 years when we beat the Chargers in 1998. He does not show emotion on the field too much, but as Jacke's 52 yarder sailed through, I saw him throw five full water cups in the air. It was cool.

The other great moment was watching the live TV coverage of the Cardinals team plane return to Sky Harbor after kicking the Cowboys ass in the playoffs.

The worst moment is looking at the newspaper picture of my dad trying to revive Cards TE J.V. Cain on the practice field in the late 70's. To this day, it is the most horrifying thing he has ever seen on a football field.

no no no AZ shocker. That would be VERY VERY NEGATIVE.

sacrilegious babble from the "adopters" always earns a trout slap

I know, I know its very sacrilegious, but we need more than 30,000 fans showing up for games on Sundays. It's embarressing man! Winning games would no doubt help, but this franchise is LONG overdue for an image overhaul! :)

Here's a direct quote reagarding, this very subject, from the all-time best running back the game has ever had:
"And my motto is that sometimes it's the little things that make the big things happen. Sometimes it can be just a sock change. I've always been one of those players, and there probably are a lot of other players who think like I think: If I look good, if I feel good, then I'm going to play good."

In this day of age...players have to "feel it" as much as possible, if you know what I'm talking about. The Cardinals have always run their organization like it was still the 1940's. Hell, they just recently owned up to the whole "escalator" thingy in negotiating player contracts. If their the last to get on that bandwagon with that, then you know they have some catching up to do in other areas. Like updating their uni for God's sake!

(1)I've been a fan of the team since the win over the 49ers during the inaugural season in Phoenix. (I have been trying to obtain a tape of this game for years, unsuccessfully. If anyone has it, I am willing to pay for a copy)

(2)Having a job that only required about 1 hours work per day, left me a LOT of spare time to surf the internet. (I think Sec11 has that job now :p ) It was then that I found the old CardinalInsider board over on the Rivals Network. AzProSports was started by a few of the regulars on Rivals. (My top 10 reasons for being a Card Fan/Rivals.com shirt is finally showing some serious wear and tear. Wife won't let me wear it out of the house anymore.)

After enduring, what seemed like years of banning/unbanning Voldemort (He-Who-Should-Not-Be-NEMed) I was one of the first to register on this site.

Funny part is, I remember Skkorp saying he was going to start his own board that was you-know-who free, and saying it would be better than AzProSports. At the time I remember thinking, no way. Guess I was wrong, big time.

(3) (edit) Forgot to post most memorable moment! It would have to be Freddie Joe Nunn's massive hit on Troy Breakman during Dallas' 1-15 season. I didn't think he would ever get up again.

Go Cards!!!

1. I followed 40yearfan over here from the pit fight message board on the Cardinals hom website.

2. Cardinals fan - Reason A. I hate NY and Philly teams, and the Cardinals would always ruin at least one of there seasons with an upset, and I saw the Cards play at least 4 times a year. Reason B. I really got into them after watching them beat the Cowboys and the playoffs ( I hate Cowboys). Reason C - HOPE! They have been bad for so long that I believe things HAVE to turn around. That with all bad comes some good.

3. Chuck Cecil knocking off "Ron Middleton - TE - Wash." helmet off a couple of years ago. It was at Jack Murphy Stadium, and Chuck hit him so hard that the guy helmet came flying off but all 4 chin strap buttons were still connected when Middleton picked it up. What a great hit!

1. Was posting at the Republic site until someone told me about the ProSports one. Then followed everyone else here.

2. The summer before the first season in AZ, my family was on vacation there. I was 17 and just getting into football and needed a team. I didn't want to pick the Eagles and follow the crowd. There was Cardinal gear everywhere we went. My dad actually worked for Mobil and they were giving out Eagles glasses at the stations in NJ and PA, so my dad asked a guy at an AZ station if he would hook him up with some glasses since my dad was also a Mobil employee. The guy gave us about 5 glasses. I still have those glasses in my sports room. :) Anyway, there was excitement in the air and that's when I decided to root for the Cards.

3. Best memory is sneaking into the players's family area at SDS after they lost to New England in 1999, I think it was. Met a lot of the players and got some autographs. Got my picture taken with Jake. The funniest was that I was wearing a Wadsworth jersey and he walked by me and said "Nice jersey" and I said "Why don't you sign it for me?" He came back and started to sign the back of it and said "So are your related to someone here?" I replied "Uh ... no, but I did fly in from New Jersey just to see you guys play." He said "Really?" and was cool enough not to boot me out.

Of course, beating SD to make the playoffs and then beating Dallas come pretty damn close, too!

1. Came over from the old board (heard about that from the old rivals, rivals from the old CNNSI.com board).

2. My first NFL game ever seen live was the SF game the first season - was hooked then!

3. Best moment - 1998 SD game. My entire family was in town (all 15 of us) - took them to the game, north end zone. First NFL game for everyone else. Ran onto the field - awesome!!

1) saw someone mention ASFN on another board and did an internet search. stayed here B/C it is so active.
2) I hated the broncos for having cut Kasper and Romo, but kept Greise. When Kasper was picked up I ventured over to the aimoo board to lend my support and let you guys know about this underrated player.
3) Kasper scoring a TD in the Bronco game last year and giving the crowd a little hows your father salute.

I typically don't enjoy bumping up threads, but I thought since several have joined this Message Board since I originally posted this that it would be worthwhile...

2). When did you begin following the Cardinals?
3). What's the most memorable Cardinal related moment you
have (positive or negative)?

1) I used to read the WAY OLD Rivals board - was that the one with Articles by Jim Richards? If so - I went from there to azcentral - found the old site and then migrated over here. I used to lurk for a while telling Ouchie how much of a loser he was until the day I stepped up and got into a war with Tango on my first day - Skkorp almost banned me that day and I never even realized it until I finally found my PMs about four months ago.

2) Began follwing the Cards on Rosh Hashanna 1988 - Dad hijacked me and my best friend and his father left dinner early that night to be at the first MNF game and first home game ever at SDS versus the Cowboys. I will never forget the fake field goal at the end of the half where Al Del Greco was actually running forwards backwards (had to see it to believe it).

3)

a) Positive "GET THE CAKE! GET THE CAKE!" During the classic Cowboys playoff crushing - we had a huge bash at my middle brothers place and my best friend and his father came and brought a Cardinal cake. When we were up 20-0 everyone started screaming "GET THE CAKE! GET THE CAKE!" I ran into the other room and proudly strutted back into the room, cake held high overhead - and then the Cowboys scored - immediately everyone turned around and started screaming "PUT THE CAKE BACK! PUT THE CAKE BACK!" I literally walked backwards the exact way I walked in.

Such a classic moment as a Card fan - already to celebrate and even for a second there was fear that we could somehow blow it - absolutely classic moment. I then jumped into my brothers non-heated pool and rubbed cake all over my face - it's one of the scariest pictures you will ever see.

b) Jacke's kick - nuff said - but will say more - the pictures from that day on the field are classics - walking down the corridor on the way to the field arms draped over both of my brothers shoulders as we all were screaming WE WANT DALLAS! WE WANT DALLAS! Will never forget the picture we were about to take at mid-field - the guy was already to take it for us and just as he did about ten other people just jumped in - me and my bros in the middle - beautiful picture.

c) The Niners CUPS FALLING FROM THE SKY game - no more needs to be said.

Negatives:

a) Craig Wielahan's 30 yard TD pass on 4th and 20 with 20 some second left in the fourth to tie the game. I was sure June Jones was going for two and the playoffs were lost. I remember running into the corridor which was empty and was so pissed I just threw my favorite hat about 50 yards - never found it again.

b) Gonna get bashed for this - but here it goes - you asked for the worst feeling - the Hail Mary last weekend - hoping against hope that my feeling there will be dead wrong on that one - but I literally fell over and couldn't breathe after Poole caught that ball - I really thought we were finally gonna get our savior. Hopefully Manning is just a huge bust now and Josh is the man.

1996 - 36-30 - Boomer TD pass to Marcus Dowdell - that game was amazing - we even tried to surprise onside in that game only to have it returned for a touchdown - crazy game - still don't know why Tobin didn't go for two - you're up 5 with 30 seconds left - why on Earth don't you go for two?

Well, I initially came across ASFN in late June because I was looking for Phoenix Sun's draft party info and someone had linked the URL of this site to another one......

I moved from Metro-Detroit back on 5/12/02 and I have followed the Suns since the mid-late 80s and the Diamondbacks since their inception (when Buck Showalter was named their first manager).
I must admit that I really didn't really begin to direct any major interest in the Cardinals until last year's exhibition games and this forum has served as "Cardinals 101" for me......

Probably a positive for you..... Was witnessing Gramatica's GW FG in OT last season vs. the Lions in Tempe........

So, here's your opportunity to respond to these questions.......

I must amend this now since I'm now a loyal Cardinal fan and no longer am a fan of the Lions.....

Best moments was seeing the Cardinals defeat the Bengals 17-14 on 11/02, which capped off the week when they extended all those contracts (also was their 2nd consecutive home victory).. Also, witnessing the emergence of Anquan, which no mere words can actually express....

Worst moments was witnessing John Kasay's 49 yard game winning OT FG on 12/14 and Jeff Wilkins doing the same for the Rams on 11/23 (I must be bad luck)....Both heartbreakers.....Just being at those games were emotional roller-coasters, I actually cried when both FGs were "good".....

I didnt attend last Sunday's game because I had a severe bout with the flu, but hearing Pasch's call of that last play will always leave a positive lasting impression on me....

1. Started at the old rivals board went to AZProSports and now here.

2. 1968 my dad to me to my first game in St Louis and it was against Dallas.

3a. It is the Jacke kick ( I cant remember but i was drunk with firends and I think i wet myself ) being soo happy!

3b. Watching on the big screen in St Louis in 1975 Conrad Dobbler bitting in a Dallas Defensive players leg like it was a chicken leg, me screaming do it again and my dad telling me to sit down because we were in the dallas section. It was bliss.

I want to amend mine a bit as well.

I was told about this site starting via email from Skkorp, who had asked me to write a story about the pro-stadium rally I helped the Avengers organize.

All I really did was post continiously supporting it, they got Mr TSA Jim Grogan, the Mayor of Mesa, at the time, Mike Whalen, and Michael Bidwill to attend and speak.

But I did write the initial article ever posted on this board.

I was the 3rd person that enrolled on this board and has posted beside Skkorp and Alan.

1) Too long ago to remember, but I was one of the real originals. I think I started at Rivals...when Mike was hired. I do remember recruiting Harry from the SI boards.

2) Living in Arizona, my dad hated the Cardinals. So I had to root for them just to make things fun. I originally hated the Cardinals, because of my dad's influence, but I eventually began to love the team.

3) Jamir Miller busting through the Cowboy's o-line and knocking Aikman on his ass. Next would be Aeneas Williams putting Steve Young out of commission.

I started back on the az central board about 5-6 years ago, Walter and I used to get in some discussions there way back then. I occasionly lurked on the Rivals board but never posted because every time I checked NEM seemed to dominate so much of the posts. I started frequenting it more mainly consulting Alan's salary cap breakdowns. Then when Bob, Alan & Mike started the azsports board I migrated there. I was one of the early ones to sign up here, but still spent the majority of my time on the "old board" for a while, mainly because, like NEM on the Rivals board, I just didn't want to put up with Ed B's rants so much.

I gave up being a Seahawk fan when the Cards came to Phoenix.

One of my most memorable moments was watching Larry Centers work his way up field after a reception and jump, get hit and do about a 360 in midair.

Quans one handed side line grab this year is also one I will not soon forget either.

Worst were....the day Buddy came to town and the subsequent dissension he created within the team itself.......and the famous non-call in the Dallas game where Rob Moore was brutalized.

Positive: The san diego game to send us into the playoffs.
Negative. Moving to AZ and ALOT farther away from PA

I

camefrom the board Joel and othersdid. After some arm twisting.
I became aCardsfan when I moved here about 9-10 years ago. I never had "a team" anywhere I lived and decided this is it. Never looked back. Knew the Cards from watching ball for...well a really long time, and started learning as much as I could about them.
Most memorable, toss up, getting ripped off against Dallas( non call pass interference), tearing down the goal post after beating Dallas, and beating S.D. to go to the playoffs.

Cardinals

(1) Was a lurker at 1 or 2 other forums (are there more than that?)...was with Russ Smith and a few others at another site....respected those guys a bunch and when I saw them over here I stayed here.

(2) Living in Southern Ohio all my life I was attracted football wise to the Browns (pre-Bengals)....but couldn't get the radio broadcasts down here....actually could listen to KMOX in St. Louis sometimes better than Cleveland...really liked the Cards baseball team so I gravitated to their football team (even followed the Hawks!)

My favorite Card memories can be divided into the old and new....In the 50's it was following some of the great players....still remember a Street and Smiths with WR Bobby Jo Conrad in a Heisman pose.....loved QB Charley Johnson-Larry Wilson-Pat Fischer then some of the newer guys like O.J. Anderson-Terry Metcalf-Neil Lomas-Roy Green-Mel Gray-Dobler and of course the current guys......even though our drafts sucked back then (even traded away great #1 picks like Dave Butz)...I still always got excited about draft day like I do today.

(3) Has to be the playoff victory over Dallas....won some money on that deal....."Card's suck" stuff made it easy to take money from idiots....and though I may be in the minority....my second may have been Sunday's game.....that not only showed me that we have some players with guts (they could have folded easy)...but it gives me hope for the future.

1. Ditto like some others...my bro (jkf296) found the old Rivals board & we started to post on it

Then Bob Chebat had the AzProSports board & it seemed like everyone migrated over there.

I met Skkorp for the first time at the rally that KOC was talking about & Skkorp's wife Melanie asked me if I was going to post on Skkorp's new board. He told her to keep quiet, but I said sure....and the rest is history...

2. Actually for a few weeks back in the late 70s, I liked the Cards - I thought their uni's were cool & I thought Jim Otis was a truck...but then I started following the Bengals for a year & then finally the Raiders. I grew up in NW PA & everyone there was a Steelers fan, so I enjoyed the trouble they had with OAK.

When we moved out here in 83, I still liked the Raiders. When the Cards moved here it was still OAK 1, Cards 1A. We got season tix in 90 I think & have been hooked ever since.

3. Favorite memories - I lived in Northerrn VA from 94-97 & loved to go to the games at RFK - I had beer poured on me many times & I was like the only Cards fan in the whole stadium & we won some good games there.

Also - in Philly Seth Joyner's family saved me from a bunch of ruckous fans there in 94.
