Who do you not want at #10?

There are a lot of picks I'd be happy with.

Personally, my only request is that we not draft a tightend or wide receiver there. Otherwise, BPA will make me happy.

What are your thoughts?

I would like Lyndale White but know what I like is meaningless so I will just wait and see like the rest of you and probably be shocked at who we select. Gives me somthing to ponder for the next two months when I am not thinking about the Cubs and spring training.

Depends. Cutler, maybe, if it's good value, but not if he's not rated that high. D'Brick or Lendale if they slide. Hmm, a tough one.

It is as simple as getting a impact player where we dont have a stud starting right now. Those positions where we dont have an impact player starting right now are (in no order):

TE - Davis
RB - White, Williams
OL - Take your pick
QBOF - Any of the 3
Slant NT - Ngata, Watson(trade down)
WLB - Hawk, Greenway
MLB - ?????
FS - Williams, Huff

I do have my favorites of course and those favorites will change on a weekly basis until the the day of the draft as more info about each comes out, but I will be happy with any one of those. But I might not be happy with a first round OL unless it is Ferguson as it will mean that we didnt fix the problem in FA like we should have.

I think #10 might be a little high for a punter.

Ngata, I think he's very overrated. I'd have to say DeAngelo Williams as well, because I think he's too similar of a back to JJ, and it's to early to give up on JJ.

i know we have alot of fan favorites and players that we tend to overrate just cause they are on the cardinals, but the only position that i am sure that we won't draft for with the first pick is wide receiver, other than that it should probably be best player available.

Jus' do it...

I don't care who you(RB) are, if you don't have an offensive line that can do their job on a regular basis, you ain't gonna look like much. A good OL can make a nobody a somebody, and a bad OL can make anyone look like they suXXors... I'd like to see JJ run behind such a line as the Seachickens, or the Broncos, and then perhaps pass judgement on him. So, while we may need a bruiser back for close-range targets, I'd like to see us shore up some OL whether by FA or Draft.. No excuses, no "well this guy looks really good in round 7. He's just what we need to cure our woh's... In say 2009 he'll really mature"... Uh uh, screw that. Just Do It. I don't care where they're "projected" to go in what certain round. If you think they are a fix to what we have now, you make sure you get them. Period... Make it happen. So. In answer to ur Q; I say of course that D'brickshaw guy, if he falls. If not. do some math, find out where it's acceptable to drop to and get a two for one trade on picks. However, make ur damn picks count. OL! OL! OL! I don't care if they're all new, if you train'm "right" they oughta be able to do their job. How tough can it be... ie. plan A, do this; plan B if they do this, you do this; Plan C, if they do this, you do this. There is no plan where you fall on the ground or build a freeway on-ramp to your offensive ball carriers.(Please pardon the buzz factor. I will firmly deny ever posting a rant of this nature at this or anytime in the foreseeable future)

I guess that means you'd pass on Jimmy Williams and or Michael Huff......not me, I'd take either at #10.

Either one will make our secondary formidable and with the vesatility of Williams being both a potential FS/CB we get a rare athelete.....which is the type of player that teams gravitate to these days.

The only player that I will cringe with is DeAngelo Williams. If we do not get a stud RB in FA, you can also add any TE to the list.

I'm pretty much in agreement with your list and will also change per the combine and pro workout days.

My feelings about this mix gut-sentiment with objective assessment.

I'd be let down if we drafted either Leinart or Cutler at #10.

I'd be slightly bummed if we drafted a TE there.

I'd have mixed feelings about Ngata (i.e. I suspect he'll be a bust, but dang! it would be nice to have someone who can plug the middle. I'd feel hopeful, but scared).

DeAngelo Williams - We already have JJ. Best way I can put it is: If, at #10, you put Reggie Bush and DeAngelo side by side and had to draw a "draft/no draft" line between them , Bush would be on the "draft" side while Williams would be on the "no draft" side, because Reggie looks tangibly more explosive and powerful (more "Barry Sanderish") than JJ, while Williams isn't quite that good and therefore, not worth bringing in to compete with Arrington.

I'd be OK with the remainder of "usual suspects"; including Hawk, Greenway, Williams, White or 2 or three offensive linemen. And I still remained intrigued with Gabe Watson, based soley on his physical attributes (which, however, could be a big mistake given his inconsistent motor).

Too lazy to type one myself. this fits my assessment. A first round QB doesn't help in '06. First round is too high for a TE for a team with as many needs as we have at RB,O-line,D-line and LB. Too many question marks about Ngata to take him that high IMO.

I'm not a draft guru, but I suspect that OL, RB(White), LB or even FS will be the choice. I'd be happy with any of the four if they are elite prospects who are truly BPA and contribute to a playoff run in 2006.

Not to hijack the thread -- but given Jeff's concerns (which I share) on Ngata and G. Watson --

Have there been guys taken high who coming out have had questions about their "motor" or effort that have turned out to be solid NFL players?

I can think of a few guys -- Ted Washington, Brentson Buckner -- but it seemed like it took them changing teams after a few years for them to realize the potential.

I remember this was the question that dogged Darryl Gardner -- Top 3 physical skills and build -- real questions on motivation. Miami took him and he has been okay to good, but nothing special.

Shawn Rogers slipped in the draft, but as I recall, it was his injury history as well as questions on effort that caused him to fall. He has been very good -- but could that have been about only getting second round money?

Of these three the guy that is most likely to make an "Immediate" impact is White. If you are thinking 2-3 years down the road it could be either of the other two. What is more important: To finish well this year or be better 2-3 years from now. With todays free agency teams think short term anymore. There are not long range building plans other than having a QB in development on your team. (we do not)

LOL!! Speaking of which, who is the highets rated punter/kicker coming out. I heard there's a cat from Wyoming that's pretty nice punting. We'll actually need to address that soon as Scott's gettin pretty long in the tooth. :)

Why are people down on Greenway?

And, Clif, why not L. White? I thought you were jocking him (or maybe it was simply a preference for him over D. Williams?
