I think the Mavs were a victim of their own bragging - all year they've claimed they could win playing any style so they tried to prove it right out of the gate. Now GS has won a game in which they didn't shoot well.
I presume Avery will revert to their normal lineup plan to control the boards. I think I'd move Dirk closer in and take his shots quicker so the Warriors slow developing double team had no time to come into play. Try Howard on Davis when he gets it going. GS can still win if they're on fire from long range but Dallas can't let them win another game when they aren't shooting that well.

I also picked neither. It would be great if an upset happened, but it's pretty unrealistic to think the Mavs & Spurs won't find a way to win 4 of the next 6 games. Hopefully those series go 6-7 games and we are able to finish off the Lakers in 5 or less.

I voted both. Far-fetched? Maybe, perhaps probably, perhaps. But sometimes you've gotta go with poetic justice. And sheer comedy.
I'm not sure I'd say "far fetched" even though unlikely.
In both series, there are significant matchup issues that make the top seeded teams a lot more vulnerable than their relative records would suggest.
Tomorrow's games will be absolutely huge. If memory serves me, the Suns are the only team to ever win the first two games on the road and still lose a seven game series. It could be exceptionally hard on the Spurs who would be forced to win at least two games in the altitude of Denver.

I'd like to see Dallas get knocked out for the simple reason that the Suns would then have home court advantage throughout the playoffs.

i stuck to the question of the poll and said SA. i think denver has the firepower to overcome their defense and SA really hasnt had an answer for Nene yet. he was getting them so many 2nd chance points, and with guys like carmelo and AI those 2nd chance points mean a LOT.
As well as the Warriors are playing, I think the Suns have a good chance against the Warriors because the Suns have Amare and Warriors don't. Still I'd expect every game to get into the 120s.
Neither... but who knows... both are tough series (I am glad we picked the Lakers).
I think the Spurs will step up. Duncan and Ginobili were pathetic in game 1 when they are playoff monsters, Parker didn't do much better. I think it was just and accident. But it will not be an easy way to round 2. Melo and AI have finaly spent some time together on the floor at the end of the season. And now it works.
For the Mavs... well I really don't know. obviously the GSW match very well with them. I used to think that the Mavs would figure out how to adapt GSW game. But I am not sure anymore. I still pick the Mavs but would not be so surprised if they were out.

People are getting WAY ahead of themselves. It's funny how things can go from ROSEY to WERE IN TROUBLE in the matter of a couple games.
Case and point.
If Dallas and San Antonio win the next one everybody will say they are fine.
If the Suns lose game 2 against the Lakers then everybody will be talking 7 games for us again.
Now if we have another "Perfect" night with us winning and San Antonio and Dallas losing AGAIN....then that's a different story.

i would say they were far from "with ease" wins tonight. THe nuggets blew 24 layups and were only down 3 with 30 secs left. the Warrioes lost their best player and leader and werent out of it until the last few minutes. then they lost their next best player. besides, both denver and GS have GREAT homecourts, so they can go home and grab 2 wins easily. if either team goes up 3-1, its over. i think SA is getting old and cant contend with a team like denver that well. Dallas on the other hand has been consistent all year long and will overcome GS rather easily from what i can see.
I thought that either team would have a shot at an upset had they managed to win game 2, but that didn't happen. The problem is too many teams are content with a split on the road so if they win game 1, they don't see game 2 as a must-win. But I don't think that either GS or Denver can win all three of their home games, which means they would need to win at least one more road game. I think game 2 would have been a lot easier to steal than game 5 or 7. But we'll see.

i agree. neither seemed easy. at the very least for golden state, they have proven that they aren't going down without a fight. they are gonna play their hearts out the whole series.
i hope both series keep up they way they are going. let them keep trading games so they both end up with all 7 games being played.

Please try not to be such a nitwit. Had the Warriors won Game 2, that would have been six straight for them over the Mavericks, not to mention the Mavericks' sixth straight postseason loss. That's a lot more intimidating than being down 0-2 to a team you know you can beat.
In any event, it's all moot now, because the Warriors underwent an implosion in Game 2 the likes of which I have rarely seen.

That's how the playoffs work.
Heck, even in the reg. season when your team is a true contender (Dallas, SAS, Suns, etc.) every loss is taken very hard.
