You need to look far beyond Nash's stats to see what he brings to the table. He makes everyone better.

Thats the most important part of his game imo. Nash needed a few years to develop, so his career stats are not that great, but in his peak years now he is clearly better than Kidd or KJ was (though KJ is my all time favourite Sun) . He is the reigning two time MVP for a very good reason.

I loved KJ and his drives to the basket but he lacked defense and 3 pt range. Nash's defense is also not that great but he is a better distributor. Even though Kidd is considered one of the top point guards, I think Kidd era was one of the most boring of Phx Suns as far as I'm concerned. It was so boring at times that I actually stopped following Suns for stretches. So...

Nash
KJ
Kidd

KJ.

Nash is unbelievable, but he hasn't gotten us to the NBA Finals yet, once he does he will be tops.

Yes, KJ had Barkley, but Nash has Amare, Nash had Amare two season's ago and couldn't do it, it was a very similar situation to KJ and Barkley. Amare was the primary scorer, as Barkley was in 92-93.

Nash can overtake him this year if we win the title. I'm not sure it's good enough to just make it to the finals. The east is alot weaker than it was back in the day. If we get there, we should win it.

I don't care if the Kidd was boring but he was a much better defensive player, better passer in a slower offense, could rebound much, much better. The only thing Nash is better in is outside shooting. Give a Jason Kidd in his prime an Amare Stoudemire and a better overally supporting cast like Nash has and he would do great. The Suns team just wasn't as good back then. He did make the Finals twice even though it wasn't with us. Right now I think Nash is better than him but overall it is Kidd. Nash only had 2 good season's and it's still debatable about who is better now and Kidd has been a much better player all-time.

And no, two good years just barely puts him in the top 10.

Kidd is a better passer in a slower pace offense? Dude, have you been watching at all?

If anything, Nash's slower pace and half court offense are better than Kidd 'cause the defenders can't cheat on Nash by sliding back and Nash is one of the best pick&roll players in this league. These two are critical in running half court offense from a guard that I have yet to see Kidd excels.

Not saying Kidd isn't one of the best but I just thought Kidd isn't a very good slow offense player.

Thats totally unfair to Nash, the 93 year was a much better TEAM. 2 years ago, the Suns had basically a 6 man rotation, not exactly a deep team.

The 93 team often had former All Star Tom Chambers coming off the bench. They had Mark West and Big O in the middle, who were never great, but were comparable to KT. Majerle and Ainge shooting from the outside. The one year of high flying Richard Dumas, and Ceballos dunking on everyones head....all that in addition to KJ and Barkley. Plus Barkley was a MUCH better rebounder than Amare.

Man, I miss that era.

me too - that team just had so many charismatic guys on it - Charles was THE biggest thing in basketball - yers, even bigger than MJ for that one year and then he was obviously the belle of the ball once MJ retired... we had Thunder and KJ - old stalwarts who got the team rolling back in '88, Ainge - a guy who would do everything from shoot killer threes to biting Chris Dudley's leg to try to geta win... The Big O who was wildly talented before he became a marshmallow and Dumas who flied out of the sky... and that doesn't een mention TC as the grizzled vet finally willing to just do the dirty work and finally hustle to try and win his first title. That team will ALWAYS be my favorite Suns team I think.

I thought so too, but the heart and guts of last years team makes it close. I mean to do what we did, with the guys we had out, with everyone leaving us for dead at the beginning of the year (and that's before kurt went out) and to win some of those playoff games the way we did, was just an unbelievable ride.

It got to the point during the playoffs where I truly believed in my heart it was destiny and we were gonna win it. And the players believed it too, that's why you saw the emotion after the dallas series, where even the usually cool nash and d'antoni broke down.

As a player, Nash for his two MVPs.

As a Sun, however, KJ. He came from one of the greatest eras in basketball (Jordan, Barkley, Olajuwon, Drexler, Malone, etc.) and led this team to the Finals.

If Nash brings a championship to Phoenix, then I'll change my mind.

But until then, KJ is the man.

I could care less for what Kidd has done.
