I'm headed down, and I can't really believe it.

To give some perspective, I'm 22 years old, and I've been a diehard Cards fan for 20 years, since '88. When college came around, I chose ASU over USC, since ASU offered me a scholarship, and my parents offered Cardinals season tickets.

As a kid, I asked my dad if he would buy me Super Bowl tickets if the Cardinals ever made the big game. He derisively said "Yeah, sure I will." His assumption was that it would never happen.

When the playoffs rolled around, he said we couldn't afford it, which is completely understandable in this economy. I'd already drawn up plans for a Cardinals-themed party, if our team found a way to push into Tampa. But something happened at the NFC Championship that obviously struck us all as Cardinals fan. The Drive. My dad bleeds Redskin maroon as much as I bleed Cardinal red, but the ecstasy of that amazing series changed his mind. Tomorrow, he is flying into Phoenix to pay for our Super Bowl tickets, knowing that it is an amazing opportunity.

Our family can't quite afford it, but we're going to find a way. I'm the luckiest guy in the world.

Looks like there will be at least 6 of us going if not more. Should have confirmation on the tickets today, as soon they are locked up it will be time to get the credit card out and book it Danno.

I, like many others, have no logical justification for spending this much money to watch a football game, however, I use the 75 year old man theory...when I'm sitting on my porch years from now will I remember being broke and going to the Super Bowl or would I remember the alternative of making the prudent financial decision?

Thanks for the help on hotel rooms and flights!

We definitely need an ASFN meet on Saturday!

hey folks, I thought I'd start a thread for all of us who are going to try and coordinate something, somewhere to meet up.

One of my best friends (who's a huge sports fan/partier) lives in Tampa and implored us to get tickets to this party before the game. He's been there before and it's only about a block from the Stadium. Me, Ouchie and Pappa of Cheese/Ouchie and Brother Who Shall Not Post will be posted up there for the pre-and post game celebrations.

anyone who's interested, here's the link:

No tix, but I'll be out there. Still hopeful to get in the stadium though...

FWIW:

an article on MSNBC (I think) today said that re-sale ticket prices are dropping already --

an "expert" said he expects tickets to be selling close to face value by next week.

I got selected and I have booked hotel, car, parking, etc. The only thing in question still is who I am going with. I had to borrow money to pay for everything so now I am just looking for the right Cards fan to go with that wants to buy a semi-cheap ticket as compared to the going prices. I hate to sell for more than face value to my friends but that was the only way I could get to go. I have to borrow $1500 for the part I didn't have so that is what I am selling my extra ticket for. Does this make me an a-hole? My alternative was just to decline purchasing the tickets and let them probably fall in the lap of some scalper. At least whoever goes with me will know that they are sitting next to a Cardinals Fan. :)

Dear Season Ticket Holder:
Thank you for your tremendous support throughout this historic season. It was certainly true when Coach Whisenhunt said the team could not have made it this far without the incredible home field advantage the team receives at each and every home game.

The drawing for season ticket holders to determine which accounts are able to purchase Super Bowl tickets has taken place and notification letters were mailed Friday, Jan. 16. Unfortunately, your account was not selected

I got a couple of private messages about my tickets but it won't let me respond because I don't have 15 posts yet...so I will in a few minutes so I can reply.
