Actually a lot is going on with the Suns. Unfortunately we do not hear much about it. I hope Jones starts to do some radio shows after things settle down on the coaching front. What is presented at press conferences is the bare minimum as I view it.

He was on Burns and Gambo last Friday...and revealed that his primary free agent target was a wing who could shoot (like we don't have enough bloody wings), and his secondary target was a power forward, and he made no mention whatsoever of trying to sign a veteran point guard.

With each word and action of his, I like James Jones as a GM less and less.

I missed it. Do you have a link?

I'll look for it. The interview occurred around 3:00 or 3:30 last Friday.

Thanks. I found it listed under "Suns Interviews and Podcasts" dated 4-26-19 at Arizona Sports 98.7. I will give it a listen.

Holy cow... listening is indeed a skill. He mentions a point guard, a power forward and says you can never have too much shooting from the wing position. You are blatantly lying about what Jones does and doesn’t say. Listen to the 6 minute mark:

When talking about veteran targets in response to Gambo's question about the same, he mentions a power forward in passing, emphasizes a wing who can shoot and doesn"t say a word about a point guard.

Listen at the 8 minute mark and decide if you want to stand by your previous statement. He literally says that they want to improve the Point Guard position, the Power Forward position, and shooting at the wings.

Yes, and then when asked about veteran targets, he mentions power forward, gushes over shooting wing and says nothing about point guard (all but guaranteeing they are going all in on Ja Morant in the draft and anointing him our saviour at the position, starting him prematurely).

You are clearly trying to spread misinformation to further your own agenda. People can’t see every twitter post or listen to every second of the radio so they come here to get that info from other posters. It’s fine to have any opinion that you want, but putting forth lies and misinformation as the truth is way lame.

Jones does say the Suns need an extra wing. I hope he means Oubre.

I am neither lying nor spreading misinformation (just like I wasn't with Igor's communication issues despite being falsely accused of doing so). Just reporting what I heard and giving my opinion on the same. In the end, James Jones' actions will speak for themselves, for better or for worse.

Jones mentions shooting on the wing, play making and power forward.

The extra wing mention drives me crazy unless he means Oubre or he is talking about veterans.

Whenever he mentions the wing he says “shooting at the wing position”. Hopefully we can resign Oubre, but whether we do or not it sounds like he wants to bring in some bigger shooters (as opposed to a smaller shooter like Daniels).

We need a starting point guard first and a starting and backup power forward second before we can even think about talking about that luxury.

Jones covers free agency and the draft in about 1 minute. He blends needs and position together so it gets a bit confusing. He does want a play maker, power forward, veterans, an extra wing and shooting.

At just past the the 8 minute mark he reiterates that his main focus this offseason is, and I quote, “the point guard position, the power forward position, and on the wing as far as shooting, are areas that we will need to strengthen”.

We already have 7 wings (Booker, Johnson, Warren, Oubre, Jackson, Bridges and King), not to mention Melton and Okobo having more wing skills than point guard skills. What the frack do we need another wing for???

Something tells me that in addition to Warren, Jackson at least, and possibly Bridges as well, will be traded, likely in a sell-the-farm move to move up to draft Morant.

I will be very upset if/when that happens.

I'm not sure we are disagreeing on any of this. Jones did mention he wanted an extra wing.

Then go past that mark when Gambo follows up with questions about veteran/free agent targets.

I think "shooting at the wings" could mean a few different things, like getting Bridges, Jackson, and Oubre to work with a shooting coach to improve their own shooting. Having listened to the interview now I'm not surprised that someone tried spinning it so it falls in line with their agenda.

The Suns don't have the money to address everything Jones mentioned but there are plenty of holes that can be filled in various ways. I think Jones handled that better than McD did last year around the same time. He didn't back himself into any corners saying "We'll add a _____ this offseason" and end up negotiating from a position of weakness because everyone knows what you're after and you didn't allow yourself to have a plan B.

Maybe Jones is trying to find another James Jones type player.

Oh sorry if I made it sound like I was in disagreement with you :) He mentioned play makers a few times and I was just reiterating the part where he specifically said “point guard” for others who may not of had the chance to listen.
