Yep, that basically secures HC for the Spurs.

Which means they face Denver/OKC winner in round two, while the Lakers likely get Dallas.

I'm good with that, very good.

And Manu4five, most of my Mom's side of the family is Spurs fans, my Dad's side Lakers given he was a long beach kid and she grew up in Texas. So this concept of not being friends with fans of other teams is kind of ridiculous in my mind when those Spur fans are actually family members. Makes for some great smack talking.

No, I was a player...that wanted my own team to win. Cheered the rest of the team on from the field/dugout (I've laways been kind of loud :) ).

Still remember that we were called the Yanks and wore red, black, and white. :doi:

Ha, just giving you crap because you're a f'n Lakers fan. :D

Are you saying you would rather the Lakers play Portland in the first round, imo that is a tougher matchup than Memphis.

Lakers lost tonight to the Warriors which clinches home court in the west for the Spurs.

No, I would rather the Nooch takes the 7 spot. Lakers will blow a game to Portland soon, get them up to 6.

That's a cluster down there in 6-8, no idea who will be the matchup for any of those top 3 seeds.

But I don't like playing in the Rose Garden...it is Laker Kryptonite.

eh, they seem to have gotten over the Rose Garden the last couple years.

my hope is Dallas keeps floundering and with OKC only one game back, they slip into the 3 slot and give the Lakers an actual series, where Perkins and Ibaka hopefully beat the Lakers big guys up, softening them as much as possible for SA (who I still think have no shot to beat the Lakers, but at least they'll have homecourt and will be able to extend the series somewhat and every game the Lakers are extended is one more opportunity for Mr. Glass... aka Humpty Dumpty... aka Andrew Bynum to get hurt and derail their dominance.

am I petty? you bet your ass I am!

This.

So, I don't really follow the NBA...but what's the skinny on the new post-Mello Nuggets? Why are they giving teams such a hard time without any go-to guy to speak of? Do they have a shot at going deep in the playoffs?

they play good defense and they're DEEP. they might pull off a round one upset, but that's probably as far as they go.

There were many parts of the larger trade but the Nuggets get quality players from the Knicks in Wilson Chandler (F), Danilo Gallinari (F), Raymond Felton (PG) and a promising project center in Timofey Mozgov plus a 2014 first round pick. Also the Nuggets get two second round picks. IMO, the Knicks way overpaid for an offensive player in Carmelo Anthony and the Nuggets made out like bandits with the addition of quality talent. I believe the Nuggets are now a better team than prior to the trade. The Nuggets are deep and talented.

Completely agree. Also they have beaten the Spurs, the Lakers and Dallas recently.

Depth and they listen and play hard.

Still a bunch of douches.

I wouldn't say they've gotten over it.

In the Pau era:

0-2 three years ago
0-2 two years ago
1-1 last year
1-? this year (probably loss tonight, and the first win the lakers were down 2 with 1:30 left)

Still not a place the Lakers are comfortable playing, though they've finally won a couple there including barely sqeakeing out a win earlier in the year. That's an atrocious performance, especially considering over that timeframe the Lakers have gone 234-90 and the Blazers 191-134.

They aren't over it...it just isn't a 100% sure thing loss like it has seemed to be. More like 85% chance of loss.

I actually think this year could really be taken by a surprise team, and right now I'm leaning heavily towards Dallas as the team that has the best chance of getting to the Finals. Lakers have flaws and the Spurs, well we don't know how strong they will be by the playoffs. It's possible a lower seeded team can get far this year.

Called it.
