I am a guest GM for a mock draft on another forum (they start after the combine), I got the 5th pick (Az) and so far it has gone 1 Green 2 Peterson 3 Newton and the dude with the Bengals 4th pick hasn't shown up so I might get moved up one spot.

I will have 8 hrs when I am on the clock, but I don't plan to take that long.

Von Miller and Gabbert is who I am thinking....

Who would you pick? One choice only please! :)

If you select for the Bengals, I'd take Bowers.
If you select for the Cards, and he's there, I'd take Miller.

I guess the Bengal guy will keep getting knocked down a spot until he shows up. I got the Cards for a 4 round mock. Everybody gets assigned 1 team.

Can you trade? I'd ask for trade offers and see what you can get. I personally don't think that Miller will be good in the NFL, so I'd let someone else come up and get him or Julio Jones (the only other first-round caliber WR) and see if I can even get a 3rd in return.

If I'm stuck at 4/5, I take Nick Fairley and not look back. He's a much, much better prospect than Von Miller.

People lining up behind Von Miller right now reminds me of people last draft cycle lining up behind Jerry Hughes last year. That's right, the Jerry Hughes who had 6 tackles in 12 games last year. And guess what? Hughes is 10 lbs. heavier than Von Miller.

Von Miller is too small to be a 3-4 OLB. He's nearly 20 lbs. lighter than Terrell Suggs, and Suggs was 15 lbs heavier than Miller in college. Brian Orakpo weighed in at 263 in the '09 combine, and still ended up playing OLB in a 4-3 defense his rookie year.

Caveat emptor on Von Miller, especially when there are better prospects still on the board.

I could go offer our 1st and 4th for him. (the trades are cool as long as its only picks)

No, wait...the prophecy states that you must take Von Miller in your mock...then, and only then, will St. Newton be available at #5 in real life!

I would go:

1. Seek a trade-down proposal--no more than 8 spots
2. Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
3. Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
4. Von Miller

I don't think Gabbert is a Top 5 QB and wouldn't be if Andrew Luck had declared for the draft. Get ready for a ton of Blaine Gabbert/Sam Bradford comparisons over the next two months, because they're coming.

I dont think Von Miller will be any good in the NFL either. I want Peterson. But if he is gone I think I take Gabbert because of need.
