So in a thread where someone claims the 49ers' line is so horrendously bad that Warner will literally die on the field you find the remote, yet possible hypothetical of Boldin being traded to SF to be the inconceivable statement? Pennington went to the Dolphins. Curtis Martin went from the Patriots to the Jets. Bruce went from the Rams to the 49ers. Division trades happen all the time. Familiarity and all that. Not to mention Boldin has demanded a trade and said he won't play for Arizona, the 49ers are in real need of a WR and have the cap space/draft picks to make a deal. I don't think it will happen but please take these things in the spirit that they're offered. The whole point was based on the remote chance of Warner going to SF.

Good for you. What's your point? I never said their receiving corps was better or even preferable to the Cardinals. Only that the Cardinals receivers aren't know for their ability to seperate from coverage. If anything it's the contrary.

I didn't say anything about sacks. We were talking about whether or not Warner might stay healthy in SF and regardless of the sack numbers, Warner has taken a ton of hits behind the Card's o-line. I don't think he would take any more hits if he was in SF. More sacks perhaps but not more hits.

Warner got hit more than anyone else in the league last year. If SF throws the ball less then it stands to reason that he won't be absorbing as many hits. For the past two years, Warner has been at the top of the "QB hits" list provided by footballoutsiders.com.

If they throw it 100 times less over the course of the year like they did this year and he gets rid of the ball as quickly as he has been with the Cardinals then I don't see why not.

Has anyone entertained the thought that possibly Whis himself has input on the whole situation to the point he might be saying the offer now is far enough?

We the fans don't reallly know stuff like that and without that kind of knowledge you can't judge if the franchise is being cheap or simply trying to be prudent as they see fit.

The fact is there is a number and a risk beyond which we won't go given our total situation at the QB position, if someone else has a different risk landscape then they do and there isn't much that should be done about it.

If there were the case, Warner would have never sniffed the field, Alan Branch would been starting last year, Adrian Wilson would have been traded 3 years ago, Mike Gandy would have never been signed, and there would be a war in the front office between Mitch and I about how Preston Parsons, or Stoney Case, or Shane Boyd, or Brian St. Pierre should start that season.

To then lose Warner would certainly mean the Cards would be grilled nationally and locally. But even worse, they'd go back to being ignored by both media and the national fan base (i.e. just another lower-tier NFL team bundled with the Lions, Rams etc.)

None of those were trades. Pennington was released by the Jets making him an UFA. Martin signed with the Jets as a RFA. Bruce was released by the Rams making him an UFA.

I can explain why I'm mad. Kurt is just whining, he's being a big 38 year old baby hiding behind "principle, and moral standing."

Kurt wants to be the highest paid or near highest paid QB in the NFL. He had a great year and thinks that should result in a huge contract even though he's 38 and just played his first full season since 2001. he has played 16 games in a season 3 times in his career.

Do I think he'll be as good this year as he was last, no, he was remarkable last year, very unlikely a 38 year old repeats that. Do I think he'll play all 16 games no, again look at his history, very unlikely. The Cards have made him a very good offer, I think it's clear the Cards want him, they have Leinart waiting in the wings but they haven't told Kurt to get lost, they are clear we had something special last year, we want to keep that together.

This didn't have to get anywhere near this far but Kurt is just playing the game, no matter what our offer was, they'd be asking for more because Kurt's agent is convinced this is the last chance Warner has to make bank.
