I'm disappointed with the activity on the forums. Forum activity was higher even in years we were bad. This forum should be hopping, with all the SB talk and such, but even before we lost Sunday I don't see it.

This doesn't seem the place to go anymore. What other forums do you mofos post to? I know many of you post to the official cards forum, which I always thought as a crap forum, but what else?

Why are we losing talented writers? Why is this forum so freaking dead? I've seen many more posts in our bad years.

At least in the past years we were a community and we posted all the time. I don't get this, what's going on now. It's like a slow death. A march to death.

Success has hurt places where fans go to find solace hard. No ones panicking after this loss, so no ones here freaking out. No ones hung huge hopes on a draft pick, so there's no pumping them up/worrying about them.

If this season goes south, this board will have people on it moaning/counter-moaning.

For me, I have three kids under 6 now, and I put more effort into my weekly columns with the time I have. I think all of us understand that this season is a prelude to the playoffs. Until the playoffs start, or were on the verge of missing them, it's going to be quiet-nervous.

Agree with all of the above.

It's early in the season. If it's still like this when the playoff hunt begins, I'd say there's reason reason for concern.

What hot takes would you like to see served up? All the people who thought Brandon Williams wasn't going to be a dumpster fire have slithered back under rocks. That Brandon Williams is bad is the only hot take out there.

Other threads that were missing out on:
- D.J. Williams isn't as bad as he could be in a limited sample size!
- Deone Bucannon: still out there, doing his thing and not making big plays!
- A.Q. Shipley: really the best option at center?

There's just an astounding amount of consensus on this board, and until Palmer wets the bed in January again (or doesn't), the takes are pretty light.

pretty much this.

if we lose tomorrow, you can bet the board will be busier, but until then, it's like K9 said... there's an amazing amount of consensus on the board right now and that makes for few arguments, which is where the board usually catches fire.

Sign of the times. You can get a football fix almost anywhere and it only takes a couple of clowns to ruin a forum. Not so many people want to talk good football relative to expressing themselves irrationally about the Cards; so if you are knowledgeable - why would you stick around as some schmuck tears into you ignorantly? This happens on the others boards as well, I have accounts on all the nfc west teams and there seems to be a decline everywhere.

I call BS. I've been here 6 years under Darkside as a handle and another 10 years prior under a different handle. This board has changed. K9 doesn't care because he's been banned and hated way back when, like seriously hated, and Cheese, no offense, but you don't care because you're a company dude. You're a media guy and always have been. You know the artistic medium. It's the lense which you look through. So your perspective is different than an average guy.

So much truth there... Facebook groups that you can start at the drop of a hat, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, et al. Message boards are a thing of the past.

I hate that they are dying.

Cheese a "company man?" Hahahahahahahaaaa! That's one of the funniest things I've ever read on this board. Cheese and I were the aristocracy of the dark side on this board before anyone even conceptualized of the dark side. Color me baffled

For me it's:

Crazy busy/responsible at work
Two boys 6 and 5
General exhaustion
Don't need to come here to vent anymore when they are good

Likely even in that order.

That said, I miss Section 11, Thirty-Two, Brighteyes, Nidan (yes believe it or not), and they gang that are gone-gone (like Skorpp and KoC). Others too in sure that I've sadly forgotten.

Cardinals online community is definitely much smaller than pretty much any other team. I always check opposing team message boards during game week and they have a lot more threads/posters.

I actually think this message board is improving - several posters have returned and Shaggy & Iceman have done a great job of updating the backend and getting rid of the ad-overload.

If you even miss the old forums, just go to a team that is tanking - like the Bills or Rams - and join in on the coaching carousel threads. It will feel like old times :)

I think people are just more into fantasy football. Funny, but I just prior to this posted a thread about aren't fans here into fantasy football? I think we would have a lot more people hanging around if we could talk fantasy football on here as well as Cards football. I have to go elsewhere to talk fantasy and that is where my head is at most of the time. The once or twice I tried to sneak a fantasy thread on here to draw some interest, it is moved to that black hole of a fantasy forum this site has and no one ever posts on.

I agree with the thread subject though. I come on here daily and try to lighten it up and at least get a little curiosity brewing with some posts and polls. But few people seem to be reciprocating these days. Just like everything, the times change.

Relatives don't count. Sad that you even have to defend him. Let him defend himself dude. I don't even care about Cheese, or yourself, I was just making a point.

Cheese isn't weaker than you bro. No need to defend him, he's defended himself in all our discussions. There's absolutely no need for you to interject yourself.

And color me baffled why you felt the need to babysit.

Actually, I didn't think I was defending him. Rather, just laughing at the concept of him being a "company man." I'd be curious (okay, SHOCKED) if literally any other poster on this board considers him such. I honestly don't care if you, or anyone else, believes that . . . I just think it's weird.

And what does "relatives don't count" even mean??? My thoughts on a topic don't count because Cheese is my brother? Wtf? Look, I'm often laughing when I see that he and I post virtually the same thoughts, but there are times I disagree with him or tell him he's outta line. And sometimes I defend him. That's what abig brother is supposed to do.

You were totally defending him, but that's natural. Yes, that's what big brothers are supposed to do, that's fine. But believe me Cheese can talk for himself, defne himself, and defend himself. I've seen it over YEARS. Years man.

You don't need to protect him about his thoughts. They're his thoughts dude. And why protect him on the forums? Stop being a little bitch and let he guy live a little man, without your input.

for me... this is not a community any longer. a couple times a week one "company man" or another will write an essay and there will be a light discussion but nothing that would really pique the interest of a multi celled organism.
I miss the days when this is where I came to shoot the crap with my friends. BleedingRed, GEE, 100%, O, KoC and so many others. guys would drink too much and post things they shouldn't have, we would discuss games, last weeks until Wednesday or so then next weeks after that...then on sundays we would meet at Lot D and grill, drink, and throw snowballs at cowboys fans... guys made mistakes but they were part of the community so the ban hammer was rare
I miss Tangodnzer, lol...that crazy old bastard always had me in stitches...and Dawg,...one can never under estimate the impact of a purely stoner opinion.

Then recently they made BiM stop posting his happy birthday threads in the main forum....it was too much "clutter" I guess... those threads by Brian helped make this a community...one year I had 115 guys respond on mine, other than that thread it was just my two sons and my momma that bothered to tell me happy birthday...so it really meant something to me that year. Sure, there is a separate forum for them but that forum is not the Cards forum and like the fantasy football forum, nobody goes there.

asfn become popular because it had a great personality. Like a person you wanted to hang out with or a bar you wanted to be at. But over the past 18 months or so it has started to become sterile, and like any other organism, sterilization kills it.

Just the opinion of one guy who (after a long hiatus) returned to this board:

Compared to ROTB and a few other forums, there's more meat on the bones here, plus "all the gang's here" - from guys I've agreed with to those I've been at odds with.

I also find the ASFN forum more user-friendly from a technical standpoint (i.e. not as slow or cloggy as other boards & less intrusion by Autofill).

If, as you say, the numbers are lower than expected or desired - I'd guess we've fallen victim to new forms of media: video-clips, social media, more sophisticated analytics etc. Also - when the Cards were less popular - many of us found ASFN as a place where we could band together.

These days, you can't switch a channel, go on-line or turn a page without finding a quote by Larry, mention of the Badger or listing of PP21 on everyone's top 3 corners list.

Or "live" or replay coverage of every game.

There's less reason for us to need to stick together. Because of the Cards' newfound success, we can no longer consider ourselves as much part of a special, tightly knit small, out-of-the-mainstream group of fans who share something special.

Bottom-line: We're being done in by our own success.
