This isnt a thread about "Why did we get rid of Thomas Jones" but seriously I want to know what you guys think the factor of TJ running so well in Chitown is. Was our O line that bad? Did he just not want to play here even when he got the starting job? Is the Bears Oline that much better than ours? Did he just pick up his intensity playing in Chicago where the whole city is behind the team and some of the most passionate fans ever. These are things that come to mind but would love to hear some of your guys thoughts on this.

TJ was doing this in AZ in his last year. He was on his way till he was injured. He continued to show it in TB. Now it continues in Chicago! I would bet DG would love to have him.

I couldnt agree more. DG would love to have his kind of running style which I believe we will get next FA. Some people forget that Green is gonna be here for 4 more years not 11 more games. Shane so do you think that he just matured and learned how to play in the NFL?

Personally I think he gets a bad rap and was a victim of Macs love fest for Pittman. I think he was capable of this from the get go.

I always thought that TJ FORCED us to give up on him. The mysterious hand injury and then losing that years salary burn the bridge entirely. He finally woke up last year in Tampa and realized what it takes to play in this league. Maybe being surrounded by guys like Brooks, Lynch and Sapp opened his eyes. Had a golden opportunity at free agency again this year and is making the most of it. I wonder if his brother coming into the league had anything to do with his focus, you know, kind of a sibling rivalry?
He has always shown a nice lean when he runs but he looks much quicker at changing direction.

BTW, yes our offensive lines did suck when he was here.....BIG TIME.

Hasn't TJ had only one super game but averaged less than 3 yds a carry in the other 4? Same crap he showed here.

Him and Boston were really close here in AZ, I would see them out in Scottsdale and they looked so pissed to be here, my friend told TJ that he has great potential to be one of the best RB's in the NFL after watching him in college and he looked over at my boy and said "Whatever".. My friend said F you then and walked away and has hated him ever since. It just seems he was really unhappy to be drafted by the "Cardinals" instead of trying to focus on being in the NFL

Yep, some people forget he was leading the NFC in rushing before his injury.

I liked TJ and am very happy for him.

Yes he was, but I am still correct that his ypc without that one game was low. If he was so great, why didn't Tampa keep him?

In his 4 games this year he ran for 152yards, 110 yards, then 32 against Philly and had 97 today. He is a top 5 RB this year. I honestly think he really didnt want to play in AZ

he averaged over 5 yards a carry and had over 600 yards in limited duty in TB. Gruden said vocally that he loved TJ.

I dont think they wanted to pay.

He was a free agent.

Do you know that they didn't bid for his services?

(If they didn't, it was their mistake....)

I was at the game when he got hurt and some of the Cards fans started cheering (which made made me sick to my stomach and almost fought another Cards fan cause of it) and one of the O lineman after the game said to him ..Man we are on our own now. When 20,000 home team fans cheer when you get injured, Why would you want to play here?

The NFL stats before today showed him in 14th place in total yds, averaging 4.6 ypc and has scored 4 TDs. Jones has a total of 9 more rushing yds than Emmitt Smith, who is 16th ranked, averages 4.2 ypc, and has 4 tds.

The comparisons are not fair but to say TJ is a top 5 RB is sheer invention. Let's revisit this after about 4 more weeks.

Your first statement is a little skewed dont you think. Those numbers before this week for Emmitt Smith is for 5 games while those stats for Jones are for 4 games. Now that they are even with 5 games played Jones has 100+ yards more then Smith does.

But your YPC arguement holds weight. As does your last staement.

Emmitt has not put up 2 100 yard games with 97 yards today. If you only want to look at TD's well Jerome Bettis had 3 in his first game. TJ is playing great this year and I dont like the guy at all, but some stats dont lie.

Skorp you might want to do a little homework first.

Here is YPC in the 5 games he has player:

3.2
6.6
5.0
2.5
4.0

Only one game where he averaged less then 3 YPC.

For stating that TJ was a bust while he was here. You can spin it any way you want, but while here he didn't pan out. And he was given plenty of opportunity to make a go of it. Good riddance.

Correct he would be considered a bust while here. But that was not his fault. But a sheer lack of a coaching staff that knew how to use him. Which is obvious!

Like I said I bet Dennis Green would love to have him now!

Im sorry but if Emmitt got his first 100 yard game against the Saints, TJ would have put up 200. Denny brings a winning attitude and competitive football to AZ and I think TJ would do very well in AZ right now under Coach Green.

bottom line - he's not here. Hell - you don't see a bunch of threads about Ben R or Leftwhich right now do you?

We have to move on from our past mistakes - especially with a whole new coaching staff. Would it be ncie to have TJ playing like he is right now - hell yeah - but it wouldbe nice to have any stud RB and until next season - we ain't gonna get one.
