Why Doesn't Dansby Get Any Love?

What is it with this guy? He clearly should have made the probowl. Does his age or the perception that he overvalues himself create this indifference nationally? I understand he is 32 but I was surprised that this guy doesn't see him as a top 25 FA.

As long as 31 other teams feel that way too the Cards are in good shape to sign him without having to overpay him.

That's foolish IMO! I understand Minter is ready & waiting but IMO he will never be able to do the things Los does. Guess the FO still doesn't understand his value

I'm sure Dansby wants to get paid but I doubt it is outrageous, he was our best defensive player and what looked to be the obvious leader of the defense on the field. It is crap like this that still makes me think the Cards are the same ol' Cards. They are going to let a stud player leave for the second time because they have no urgency and cannot realize that if they truly are playing to win now...you sign Dansby. I'm not knocking Minter but what are we going to do if Washington decides to do something stupid again and get suspended. Hell, I have more faith in Honey Badger staying out of trouble than Washington. That really bites because Washington is an elite player. Oh well, we will just have to take a page out of the old Cardinal handbook of drafting another LB till he gets good and we drag our feet again lol

Dansby is an overrated player. He finally played up to the two franchised tags the Cardimals foolishly payed him in 08 and 09. He did deserve to go to the pro bowl this season. Dansby has always IMO underachieved. So let him test the market. Their is always someone who can replace him. We did with Washington.

If the Cardinals signed 'Los now, they'd have to overpay him IMO. I hope he re-signs, but not at any price.

I'll never understand posts like these. the guy had his best season this year, but he was ALWAYS a MAJOR playmaker for us, while having some of his biggest games in the playoffs in back to back years.

you know the Seahawks and Niners are so good? Because for the last three years, they've consistently ADDED GREAT talent to their teams. They haven't let big pieces of the puzzle go and tried to fill holes, trying to stay in the same place...or likely taking a step back. This team needs to keep the D in tact and get BETTER if they can. at some point, hopefully this team realizes that.

and the idea that we "replaced" him with Washington is true...but it still left a big hole at the other LB spot which was filled by a mediocre Paris Lenon. We do that again and what was a top 5 defense no longer is.

3 years is a proxy for the the size of the bonus he wants. so when Jurecki says they wont give him three years -- it means they wont give him the bonus he wants.

longer deals support bigger up front bonuses for cap reasons.


If the Cards and Dansby agreed on the size of the upfront money -- throwing a third year on the end of the contract is the easiest thing in the world to do

The differance is Urlacher has a bunch of injuries towards the end of his career, where as Los if I'm not mistaken has never had anything worth noting

He wants to be a Cardinal, is a playmaker deluxe & paying him 5-6 mil/a year is a bargain IMO

Do we know he WANTS to be a Cardinal? Until he says, Ill do whatever it takes to be back in Cardinal Red next year, its all a big ole chess match.

I'm lovin' me some Dansby.

I was shocked (and pleased!) when the Cards brought him in this year. When
Washington came around...our Defense blew up with him and the dirty-bird.

He has slowed down, but he plays smarter and is still making plays.

Urlacher was ALWAYS injured though. Constantly throughout his career. Los has never been, and even when he did have injuries, he always played through them.

Paris Lenon was not a total drop off from Dansby for the three years he played for the Cards. #'s are pretty close---and when you factor in the $$$ it's a Wash (pun).

Dansby is just average. He finally played to his potential this season. I still remember Dansby missing games over a thumb injury. The only time Dansby started to make you believe that he was going to be great is it was contract time. You don't pay big money to non pro-bowl players who have been average their whole career. Stats do not lie.
