Why is Kevin Minter so slow and fat?

Haven't we all had this conversation before?

He didn't play much in year one due to Dansby's presence here.

He didn't play and/or played injured in year two.

This year he is healthy and motivated and actually playing decent, IMHO. He definitely had at least one play today where he lit up the ball carrier and fans took notice. Granted the notice was like "Holy crap, did Minter just stuff that play?!" But - they did take notice.

I'm always surprised to see Minter out there on 3rd down. I was watching an NFL show and they were breaking down one of the pick sixes from last week - on 3rd down. They showed the ILB wrapping around and putting pressure on Kaepernick. I was looking for the 55. But nope. 51. Couldn't believe that was Minter out there making a play on 3rd down.

Actually Minter made a couple plays in that game where he looked very fast and was getting to the ball carrier with bad intentions.

His main problem is that he gets caught up in the trash a little too often, or still makes an occasional wrong read, but he's still young and I like what I've seen out of him thus far this year.

He had only 2 tackles... For a ILB, that's not a great day by any means.

He has improved alot. Still seems about average.

At least he is a stand-up guy and took a lot of the blame for the Rams being able to run the ball.

I remember seeing Mintor in on most plays. He was the one stretching his arms out as Gurley was running past him, doing his imitation of a hitchhiker trying to wave down a passing truck.

2 tackles though, that means he wasn't effective even on 1st and 2nd down. What 2 tackles tells me is he got caught up in the trash of the Rams offensive line, which is unacceptable given how poor their line is.

Catanzaro also had 2 tackles.

I don't think he's lazy. He's definitely not fat, he's in better shape than anybody here, he just doesn't have the genetics to be shredded like some of the other players. I definitely don't think it's cool to post personal type attacks about a player who goes out there and plays hard for his teammates every week. He seems like a good kid with his head on straight. To each his own I guess.
