Sounds like Mayfield, nfl caliber OL and stud receivers. Alcohol issues, tried running from an Arkansas cop and gets planted. Both are immature. No thanks to either one of these clods.
That's overgeneralizing things. If you look deep, they're nothing like each other.
Manziel had massive issues with alcohol. Manziel was literally chugging Fireball at halftime of a bowl game because he was so hungover from the night before. He was showing up to Browns practice drunk. Again, it wasn't just alcohol, but cocaine too, even in Mexico where he could massively get in trouble/killed for it. Smoking cigarettes, and god knows what else. Everyone knew he was an alcoholic. He partied with anyone, anywhere, and put it all on social media.
It's not even close to the same thing. Mayfield got busted by being stupid to the cop who got flagged down and comes over and tries to ask him questions. He's drunk and runs. Had he not acted stupid, he might not of even been arrested. Irritating, immature, stupid... yes, but nothing compared to Manziel. Not even close.
Manziel's problem was massive addiction, being an unaccountable, rich boy who didn't give a fudge. A liar who lied about everything. He couldn't stop himself from doing anything. Drugs. Drinking. Lying. Gambling. Clubbing. Assaulting Women. Whatever. Completely unaccountable.
Mayfield shows some immaturity, and other then that incident (video below), it's just on field grabs, wearing shirts, and taunts. Stupid and immature, but hardly a dealbreaker for most. You of course can have your own opinion. But it would be incorrect to say he's like Manziel.
But these are also actions he can easily move on from or at the very least keep at a minimum. Of course ESPN and whatever will blow any little thing out of proportion, like anything these days. But none of this stuff is that important. A reason to not like the guy, sure. But nothing like Manziel's issues.

This doesn't = Johnny Manziel. Doesn't equal going by Billy with a blonde wig, gambling, clubbing, and drinking in Las Vegas when you're supposed to be in Cleveland while having a concussion and supposed to be home, posting on your social media account to seem like you are still in Cleveland at home on a Saturday night with your dog and you end up not showing up the next day. All after you promised Cleveland, multiple times, you'd stopped.
I'm going to guess it's a lot easier to stop grabbing your crotch, then doing the stuff above. Even if he didn't, it doesn't cause near as much actual trouble for him and the team.
As for his OL, Manziel had an absolutely AMAZING OL. FOUR 1st round picks. Including two top ten. Yet felt the need to run around like he was getting pressured when he wasn't. Throwing up prayers for Evans to catch. This might be one of the best college lines in history.

Mayfield had some decent WR/TE. But none of them were the quality of Mike Evans who was there both years Manziel was there. Even so, he played at a higher level for more years with lesser talent around him then Manziel. Has a stronger arm too.
On the field Mayfield is 10x the QB. Stronger arm. More accurate. Can read defenses. Doesn't get the happy feet Manziel had, despite the all world college line.
Hopefully in the NFL his childish antics don't bleed over, but let's face it, this is happening all the time in the NFL anyways. Childish antics happen on the NFL field. I don't like it, and hopefully he's learned, but it's not similar to Manziel.
The whole Mayfield=Manziel just doesn't hold up to the facts or any real scrutiny.

I re-read the statement again, just to make sure my eyes hadn’t deceived me. You can choose to not want him, like someone else, that's fine and your right, but he's not Manziel or anywhere close to Manziel. Nor did he have the same quality around him as Manziel did. Manziel was given everything on the field and protected by everyone. Mayfield was a walk-on who fought for everything, transferred, and won another QB competition.
I can tell you this, the QB I heard wanted to get 'dirty' (means party and get drunk) at the combine was Darnold not Mayfield. Doesn't mean Mayfield is categorically off the hook with that, but Darnold was the one going around and trying to find compadres to get fudged up with in Indy. Meanwhile he did the least there, so he didn't work up a sweat that's for sure.
