I think he is now listed day to day, and I don't see him defaulting to the bench to play it safe.

This must be a really frustrating time for Dirk. He has so much to prove after getting bounced by GSW, people calling him undeserving of MVP, and people ripping their Kidd trade. I like Dirk, and I hope he doesn't jeopardize his health/ long-term career to salvage this frustrating season.

I think yes because Dirk knows how close his team is to not making the playoffs, and he will wan't to do eveyrthing he can to try and get back to help his team for the late push for the 8th seed or 7th seed

why is this a poll? Why does it matter what we think?

We need to take care of Minnesota on Friday before we worry about what Dallas is doing on Sunday. I really don't care if Dirk plays or not. As long as we play the way we are capable of then Dallas doesn't worry me.

I'm shocked he'll be playing at all...that was a nasty looking injury.

It did look nasty. The fact that he turned his knee and ankle at the same time, prevented a major injury.

I think he will play on sunday. He already worked out with the team yesterday and even some players said he could play tonight. for whatever reason dirk recovers from ankle sprains at an alarming speed. he's had some nasty looking sprains where he's only missed one or two games....even some where he comes back the next day. this one was much worse though because it was a high ankle sprain which normally takes 4-6 weeks for a full recovery. One thing is for sure....this team has no chance without him to make the playoffs or win a first round series. just because he's coming doesn't make their problems go away either. but the evidence shows with dirk they are very competitive with the top teams....without him they get blown away.

This seems to be a jab at polls in general. Im just looking to see what people think the odds are now that he is day to day. Will he bite his lip and ride the bench? Or will he suck it up and participate in one of their bigger rivalries and arguably one of the biggest games in the season?

"Why does it matter what we think?"
That's a solid question. Why bother even going to message boards?

good point. the other point is the mavs have no shot to win the game if dirk is not playing. so it is very relevant to the suns in that regard. of course dirk returning doesn't mean the mavs win either I'm not saying that. but do the math. dirk averages about 25-30 pts per game since the all star break. he typically scores about that much or more vs. phoenix. the mavs will need that scoring to have any realistic chance at keeping it close.

But Gasol was out longer, so :p

Mavs outrunning the Warriors tonight...Mavs 25 fast break points to Warriors 4 with 5 minutes left in 2nd. Mavs up 50-34.

Mavs up 89-69 against the Warriors after 3 quarters. Dirk has 14 pts on 5/14 field goals & 4/4 free throws, 4 rebounds in 22 minutes of play.

Mavs 34 fast break points, 13 points off turnovers. Warriors 13 fast break points, 8 points off turnovers.
