The Solar Panel Podcast talks about the Suns being sellers at the trade deadline. There seems to be a consensus that the Suns are going to trade Warren.

It also touches upon James Jones apparent strategy to sign players in free agency, lack of connections with other GMs and the Suns lack of scouting as the draft approaches.

I know you are being sarcastic - but actually some of their track records are better than the majority of GMS.

For those who have made the point (a legitimate one, in my opinion) that at least some of the Suns' problems can be attributed to not enough rotation players in their prime years, unloading Warren, who is our ONLY rotation player anywhere near his prime, for even more youth, for draft picks, or worst of all in a pure salary dump for expiring contracts, makes this problem even worse...

Neh, they have some. I remember hearing that they haven't back-filled some scouting positions, but they have 2-3 people. One of the podcasts mentioned them by name. It's bad, but it's not as bad as having no scouting staff at all.

If they fired the scouts that led to us drafting Len, Chriss and Bender, I'm not all that upset about the vacancies. And I'm sure there are a lot of scouts following the college and Euro game closely that we can hire later this season without missing a beat.

I would be very happy with Holiday or Russell and could definitely talk myself into Lonzo. I want nothing to do with Scary Terry at this point.

I can't see Russel being traded. I'm with you about Terry. I wonder if Sarver wants to spend the money on Holiday.

Sarver's spending has nothing to do with that, we are not even close to luxury tax and will spend one way or another anyway.

(Don't forget that before Dinwiddie and Russell started to break out, it was LeVert who looked primed for a starring role in that backcourt.)

What sucks is that Russell is likely to be resigned. Apparently Russell and Booker are friends, but the Nets control the situation. Maybe they would move on if the Suns offered TJ, Bucks pick and something else in a sign and trade.

I think Russell might be the best option because he is younger but I really like Holiday as well.

This may be true to an extent but it looks like Sarver has a big say in personnel matters.

The Suns has their shot at Russell last summer. That ship has sailed now that he’s taken the next step. Terry Rozier is mediocre at best.

Jrue would be best acquisition but if they could get Lonzo just for JJ and the Bucks pick you pull the trigger in a second.

If the Suns pick after the top 3, I think they'd be smart to trade that pick for value. My concern with Russell is that he and Booker would both be ball-dominant guards who are not known for their defense and would command a large percentage of the cap. However, their upside and friendship make it potentially worth the risk. I could see Dinwiddie becoming available if the Nets pay big money for Russell and LeVert reemerges.

Jrue is a much better fit (at least in theory) than Russell, but Russell is starting to become a star (which means he's probably not leaving Brooklyn). Lonzo is also a better fit than Russell, but he comes with some serious concerns as well.

All three are much, much better options than what we have been putting on the court the last couple years.
