Yes, thank you -- that's a pithier way of rephrasing what I have been saying for years. Maybe some of your readers will finally get it, since most of mine never have.

Oh we get it...we just dont believe you. Thats what you havn't got "over the years".

Man...this is too easy.

Sigh...

Yes this is just another thread started by Suns fans who hate the Lakers.

You Lakers fans need to get over yourselves. I don't give two craps about your team. If I did, I would kick you off this board.

This was to bring about discussion if the conspiracy theories would prove correct or not.

It's not about the Lakers, it is about the NBA. Did you get it? Or was it "Too Easy"

Then how come Bill Simmons says the same thing? He's a Celtics fan, so it's not as though he's short of titles to crow about. Could it be -- gasp -- that a clear mind sees how corrupt the NBA is whether -- egad! -- whether his team has won titles or not??? Holy cow, is that possible? :thud:

Bill Simmons and Clear Mind in the same sentence?

Egads! A half ass homer humor writer thinks the NBA is rigged?? WOW!!

Dude..Bill Simmons is a blogger with a nice street address...nothing more.

Hollinger, in a rare instance, was dead on in his assessment of what pushes certain teams' fans buttons. For the Lakers, it is the Kobe/LeBron or Kobe/MJ debate, etc:

Hollinger: Lakers have by far the biggest fan base and their passion is appreciated. But LeBron vs. Kobe gets them unhinged -- we've talked in here before about how every fan base has its one hot-button issue that makes it completely irrational and crazy (DWill vs. CP3 for Utah fans, LeBron leaving for Cavs fans, league suspensions for Suns fans, etc.), and for Laker fans the Kobe-LeBron debate is the one.

Andy (DC): Is the Suns fans suspension anger really "irrational?"

John Hollinger: Perhaps that was a poor example. My point was more that any time the league makes a ruling now, Suns fans lose their minds because they're convinced Stu is out to get them.

followed by comments:

Suns Fan: I still get a gross quesy feeling whenever I think about game 4 of the suns spurs series. I went from feeling like we were winning a championship to wanting to die.

Charles (San Jose): There's no suspension anger. It's the letter of the law for Stern and his cronies, unless it's inconvenient (see refs breaking gambling rules en masse).

Sorry, but Suns fans are getting the rep of "Tim Duncan stepped on the court too!! ARGH, Stern betta neva come to Phoenix or we'll give him a what for!!!" whether deserved or not.

Chris, I quoted something from John Hollinger, who is a nutjockey of LeBron working for LeSPN. It isn't about the Lakers, at all. It is about the perception that Suns fans are getting regarding refs and Stern. It's out there...it was in Hollinger's chat today which I quoted in this thread.

Here's the link. http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=26568

As much as I HATE Hollinger and his precious PER, I laughed my ass off at the Suns perception.

By the way, Chris...you mentioned the Lakers FAR more than I did---because I didn't mention them at all. I was ONLY referencing what I read on Hollinger's chat, and you suddenly assumed it had to do with the Lakers.

Who needs to get over what again? I didn't mention ONE thing about the Lakers, you did. I mentioned that Hollinger's idiot brain was equating Suns fans with suspension/ref anger. You added Laker context, not me.

Donald, Bill Simmons loses his mind when he talks about the Celtics and/or the Lakers. But, other than that, he is pretty good talking about the NBA.

No he wasn't. As someone with a statistical bent, Hollinger should know better than to make conclusions about an entire group based on a small non-representative sample.

(Hollinger) My point was more that any time the league makes a ruling now, Suns fans lose their minds because they're convinced Stu is out to get them.

That's true for "some" Suns fans, but nowhere near all.

Sorry, but Suns fans are getting the rep of "Tim Duncan stepped on the court too!!..."

Good grief, do you think I could possibly care what the internet reputation of Suns fans is? I don't identify with Suns fans, and certainly not with some "blogger's" broad stereotype. If Hollinger would like to communicate with me personally and figure out where I'm coming from, he's welcome to.

And of course, even Hollinger immediately backpedaled when asked whether Suns fan anger is "irrational." It is a fact that the NBA is inconsistent in its officiating and disciplinary rulings, and it is a fact that the Suns have been disproportionately harmed by those inconsistencies. I don't think it's because anyone is "out to get" the Suns -- it's due mainly, although not entirely, to chance -- but no matter what the reason is, it's a valid basis for anger.

Proof? Examples?

For the same reason we don't let a bunch of Cowboy fans come around and insult Cardinals fans on the Cardinals board. This is primarily a Suns fans board, not a place for Lakers fans to taunt them and call them "sheep, whiney, ect..."

This board has been very vocal about opposing team fans in the past. I feel they can stay as long as they behave like guests.

Mo Williams just threw the ball at Howard and there was no call. Unbelievable.

This is disgusting, the Magic are getting absolutely hosed by the refs. There has been atleast a 10pt swing courtesy of the officials tonight.

And Denver ties the series on a bad call in their favor. They commited a lane violation on the jump ball right in front of the ref and it was ignored. That should have been Laker ball, but instead, Denver gets the ball and the win.
Reacting to just this point, I remember when our Suns of the '70's, '80's and '90's were the finesse team of the NBA.

They would always get a few wrong calls in their favor early in the game to try to make it look like it was even when the opponents out-muscled them and got the calls late in the game.

You could count on it.

So Denver got an early no-call for the series.

Kind of silly not one of the three refs saw Williams throw the ball at him. That's just ridiculous.

The ref blew the whistle for a foul on James at mid-court. Then something like 2 seconds later and 30 feet away, Howard hit Williams on the head when chasing a dead ball. If that's not an "unnecessary" contact, well I don't know what it is.

Nice job by the refs ignoring the ball throw because they missed what happened before. Incompetency trying to hide incompetence, where amazing happens.
