Im a bit worried because he said he was in awe of the NFL speed.

Last week he had an easy TD on a hot route on a blitz but didnt recognize it and ran his regular route while Anderson threw the hot route.

What do you expect this week from Williams?

Im thinking 9 passes thrown 2 receptions for 29 yards.

But Im HOPING for 7 catches for 125 yards and a TD.

Depends on if Roberts is healthy and how much we still trusts Komar.

FYI, Whis stated that SW has been taking some reps at Fitz's spot during practice and expects him to do the same during the game.

He also said that SW is typically the 1st to come in on 3 wr sets.

I expect lots of 4 WR sets.

I hope you are right. I do expect Roberts to shine at some point this year.

I still don't get why so many wanted to cut a 3rd rd pick at WR in his rookie year.

This thread brings to light a separate but intriguing point:

How well Williams does (or doesn't do) Sunday won't be entirely within his own control.

Anderson has to (a) throw to him and (b) deliver the ball in the right place at (c) the right time. For DA to accomplish this will depend, in part, on how good his pass protection is. Then there are the other receivers. If DA to Breaston and Fitz lights things up, there may be less reason for DA to throw a lot to Williams, Komar or Roberts. Plus - it depends on "who covers who" (& how) in the Atlanta secondary

Then and only then - it becomes up to Williams. What we've seen of him during preseason (and a little bit in StL) is that he can be a dominating presence and can make more than fair share of catches - especially in traffic. But he hasn't been lights-out perfect (for example, he's still learning how to outfight opponents for the ball on red zone fade patterns).

Bottom line - Lots of potential in Williams, but still some questionmarks (many of them involving his surrounding cast). It's almost impossible to predict how he'll do Sunday (although it's equally impossible for Cardinal fans not to get excited about the possibilities).

Why is someone a hater because they are not impressed by Roberts? Does that make someone a hater? Just because people don`t drink the Roberts kool-aid doesn`t mean they hate the guy.

I like your enthusiasm regarding Andre Roberts even though I don't share it. I will be more than happy to come in and eat crow if he produces like you say he will. Hopefully you will do the same if he fails to contribute and continues to drop passes like I think he will. (Hope to be wrong here)

Edited to reflect all receivers:

Williams: 2 catches, 35 yards, 0 TDs
Roberts: 2 catches, 16 yards, 0 TDs
Fitzgerald: 5 catches, 90 yards, 1 TD
Breaston: 4 catches , 75 yards 0 TDs
Komar: 3 catches, 15 yards, 0 TDs
Hightower: 1 catches 15 yards, 0 TDs
LSH: 2 catches, 35 yards, 0 TDs
Patrick: 1 catch, 7 yards, 0 TDs

And I guess that adds up to: Anderson - 21/39, 288 yds, 1 TD, 2 INTs

What are you talking about? Where did I ever say anything about people hoping for him to fail?

Simple.

Many of us thought Roberts was drafted primarily to be our punt return guy. Then reports came from camp that Roberts was having trouble fielding punts. He did nothing really to dispel the knock on his hands when for whatever reason in the first preseason game he and DA had trouble connecting.

In addition the Cards appeared to be loaded at WR with SWilliams playing well and other players at other positions were performing and seemed to be more deserving of a roster spot.

Right or wrong it was a reasonable position to take.

Turns out it was our 2009 second round pick that was the victim of poor play by him and better play by others especially our UDFAs.

Jeez Louise.

You can be one spiteful, SOB.

Love it by the way. :D

My break out player will be Greg Toler. At LEAST one pick.

Someone is a hater when they say they are a hater. I didn't label anyone.

Damn right.

I am a Roberts hater, and proud of it.

Catch a ball, return a punt, do SOMETHING, ANYTHING!

He is my Alan Branch of this rookie class. I was very high on him and he made me look the fool. This the hate-a-tude towards him.

He had no problem fielding punts during the preseason. His issue was always fair catching the ball. I'll take that over Komar putting the ball on the ground.

But that also contributed to the problem. He appeared to be making fair catches when he didn't need to. I know at least once he came off the field upset with himself for the fair catch knowing he could have had a return.

The reference to having problems with his hands in the preseason game was in catching passes not punts.

Komar on the other hand is like Lenon and Faneca. Komar didn't give any indication that he would have trouble fumbling in pre season and then did in game one. Lenon and Faneca didn't give any indication that they still had anything left and then played well in game one.

I hope to be right there with ya. Im not giving up on a such a talented player because of him not already fulfilling everyone's expectations in preseason. Here's hoping Roberts really turns it on from here on for the rest season.
