The Williamses are out for the rest of the regular season as of now along with 3 Saints players (Deuce McAllister, Charles Grant, and Will Smith) as well as Houston's Long snapper. They all are trying to file an injuction trying to block or at least delay the suspensions.

This kills the Vikes though. The keys to their team are running the ball and stopping the run. One of those has been taken away now. Not good with only a one game lead in their division.

I'm torn on this one the more I read about it the more plausible it sounds they're actually telling the truth this time? I always assume everyone lies when they fail a test because some of the past stories have been so comical, but this one is pretty consistent. Either all these players got together and agreed on a cover story, or they may actually be telling the truth?

Thats huge for us. The Vikings game is going to be very important for us going into the playoffs. It could be the difference between the 3rd or 4th seed in the playoffs, or in other words, second round against the Gmen in NY in January or Carolina/Tampa. . Being the 3 seed is very important.

They are expected to take it to the U.S. Court which would postpone the suspension likely until after the season.

This is assuming we beat whichever NFC South or East team we face in the wild card, which in and of itself will be a daunting task if we continue to play like we have been.

Does anyone else see the humor in "Houston's Long Snapper" getting busted for doping?:biglaugh::shrug:

Both the Williams had huge games last week. Not having them in the middle of the Vikes Dline might just free up some running room and allow a little more time for KW to throw.

In their appeals, some players said the banned substance Bumetanide was not listed as an ingredient in StarCaps, an over-the-counter weight-loss pill. McAllister said he told other players about StarCaps because he believed it was a permitted supplement.

"I wouldn't have put those guys in jeopardy if I had known something was in that product," he said.

Jackson filed suit against StarCaps in Alameda County Superior Court in California last month, seeking restitution for any lost salary and damages for "false advertising and unfair business practices."

But in issuing the suspensions, the league reiterated the section of its policy that reads:

"You and you alone are responsible for what goes into your body. Claiming that you used only legally available nutritional supplements will not help you in an appeal. ... Even if they are bought over-the-counter from a known establishment, there is currently no way to be sure that they contain the ingredients listed on the packaging or have not been tainted with prohibited substances ...

"If you take these products, you do so AT YOUR OWN RISK! For your own health and success in the league, we strongly encourage you to avoid the use of supplements altogether, or at the very least to be extremely careful about what you choose to take."

The NFL also said it sent two notifications about StarCaps on Dec. 19, 2006 -- one to NFL club presidents, general managers and head athletic trainers and the second to NFLPA executive Stacy Robinson, who oversees the steroid policy for the union. That letter, according to the league, advised that StarCaps had been added to the list of prohibited dietary supplement companies.

Looks pretty cut-and-dried to me.

do you seriously think this impacts our game? we can't run on anyone, so them losing two big run-pluggers doesn't really help us all that much. so what, we'll run for 48 yards instead of 29 on the game? the game won't turn on our run game. likely no game this season will with it resting in putridity.

Kevin Williams is also an above average pass rusher.

Good rule of thumb, if a starter isn't starting it's usually better for the other team.

The Cardinals seem to be the exception that proves the rule, all untested 2nd and 3rd stringers have career days. Let's hope that doesn't happen against the Vikes.

Sucks for them, yes, but how a professional athlete puts anything into their body without knowing what is in it is beyond me.

You can get caught by eating meat that was injected with growth hormone/steroids. Something as simple as eating a steak can make you test positive.
