Wilson needs to get back to playing the way he did before the fines from the league and ridiculous personal foul calls by officials on his tackles impacted his play. Then he and Rhodes can compete to be the best tandem in the league.
I think the entire defense softened after the last one. Blow guys up and get a penalty and a fine. So suddenly our guys are whiffing on tackles. Even more than they used to.
On the other hand it could be that our defense just wore down after 20 games in 2008 plus the extracurricular activity associated with a SB appearance and another 18 games in '09.
The officials took away a critical part of A-dub's game. What pisses me off is that the league officals seemed to target Wilson for his hits, way more than others in the league that were doing the same thing...Wilson needs to get back to playing the way he did before the fines from the league and ridiculous personal foul calls by officials on his tackles impacted his play. A few odds and ends early on a Thursday:
– Not sure if you saw, after Antrel Rolle signed with the Giants, that he talked about re-teaming with college teammate Kenny Phillips and that the two of them could be “the best (safety tandem) in the league. Hands down.” Didn’t see that? Adrian Wilson did. We were wrapping up our conversation the other day, A-Dub suddenly brought it up unprompted. “Best safety tandem?” he said, showing that look you get from your dad when you’re a kid acting like you know everything when you really don’t. “Hold on there now. Just hold on a minute.”

I hear you. I know this board had lengthy debates about whether that was going on but I watched too many games where guys on other teams besides the Cards made helmet to helmet contact or hit "defenseless" WRs without a call or fine to ever be convinced otherwise.
The part about Urban signing with the Chiefs caught my eye. I wish he'd signed with them last year..that way he couldn't have fumbled against the Saints in the playoffs.
