how about Vince Young?

Is it possible that 4 QB's come out of the top 10?

Leinart
Cutker
Quinn
Young

Just a little whisper here, since people don't seem to be understanding...

QUINN IS NOT DECLARING FOR THE NFL!!!

All right, carry on.

If there was any doubt about that, yesterday's loss to OSU sealed the deal. He's back in South Bend for another year IMO.

You think Vince Young will still be around at the 10 spot? In a NY Times article yesterday, the Jets moaned over falling to #4 in the draft order...because that meant that they wouldn't get a chance to draft Bush, Leinart or Young.

Me, I'd like to see LenDale White at #10 (if he declares). That man can pick up the hard yardage.

Disagree here.

If we spend ANOTHER day 1 draft pick on a RB, he had better be able to gain 1000+ yards with our pathetic line. If not, I consider the pick wasted.

Our O-Line needs to be upgraded. Furguson, McNeil or Winston should be available at the #10, and should be taken before White. We also need a run stuffing NT and Ngata fits that bill to a T. Our linebacker core is weak and A.J. Hawk would be killer, although after last nights performance, I doubt that he will be there.

Many more pressing needs than RB at this point.

Well I highly doubt we will move up to select AJ Hawk so at the ten spot I would look at the following players depending on availability:

Jimmy Williams CB V. Tech.

or

Tye Hill CB Clemson

or

Marcus McNiel T Auburn

I see you.

Yesterday, Green scolded the media about Arrington, reminding them they ran off Thomas Jones who had a great season this year. He also told them that Navarre will be #1 or #2 next year.

IF that's really what he believes, then it would seem to rule out a QB or RB in round 1. Or, he could try to be boosting the confidence of those two to get them to work hard this offseason. And, it could be the first puff of smoke regarding our draft intentions.

With the 10th pick in the NFL draft the Arizona Cardinals trade with Houston for the 2nd pick and draft RB Reggie Bush.

Why?

#1 New Orleans is taking Matt Leinart.
#2 Houston does not have any need of a RB, they have Davis, Wells & Morency.
#3 Houston needs O-line, WR, and defensive help, they are better off trading down and picking up additional talent.
#4 based on #3 Cards give them Calvin Pace, Bryant Johnson, our #1 this year, our #3 this year and next years conditional #2 that can turn into a #1 depending on multiple factors (i.e. what does Bush do for us, what does Pace/Johnson/the picks we give up do for Houston)
#5 Going into the new stadium the picking of Reggie Bush will add 10,000 season ticket holders just to watch him play. It's the hype that sells the tickets.

Houston can then take the best O-lineman at #10 without having to overpay at #2, pick up another 3-4 defenseman in Calvin Pace (who I think can thrive in the 3-4), a decent WR that can help thier recieving core, another player at #3 and possibly another 1st or definitly 2nd rounder next year to help them out.

Point chart wise it equals out -

#2 pick = 2600
- #10 pick 1300 = 1300
- #73 pick 200 = 1100
- Calvin Pace (18th pick 3 drafts ago 300) = 800
- Bryant Johnson (17gth pick 3 drafts ago 300) = 500
- 2nd round pick same postion 480 = 20

It's within 20 points. And if Reggie Bush ends up lighting it up they get our 1st round pick which would make it more valuable on thier side by around 200-300 points.

Does anyone ever recall the Cards trading up with their #1 pick? Must have but I do not recall it. "Do not trade up" sounds like it could be one of Bidwill's ten commandments.

They traded up to #3 IIRC to get Garison Hearst from #4

that has been the extent of the trading

BTW-- based on at least one trade value chart --

to trade up to the number 1 slot:

Cards first rounder, second rounder and fourth rounder -and-

next years first rounder

Regarding RB's - The depth of the draft pool at RB is extremely deep (the War Room early list of RB's is far deeper than the one for WR - which is really unusual).

This might be the year for us to cherry pick one or two RB's - particularly one who weighs at least 235 lbs - in the mid to late rounds.

I wasn't supporting ReddBird's choice of LenDale White so much as I was supporting the opinion that the Cardinals first pick won't be Bush nor Quinn

At this point I like White as a choice but we still have to see all these guys put through their paces in the NFL combines, interviews, etc. I like his size and speed. He clearly can be a short yardage RB as well as being capable of breaking a long one. No more 210 lb RB's please. We already have one.

Behind you
D'Brikashaw Ferguson - if he's still around
Noigoti (spelling) DT from Oregon.

The Cards will NOT be going after a qb. You gotta be kidding me with all these posts about them going for a qb. Have you not followed this team for more than a day. Their priority is OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE LINE.

Drafting a qb other than Leinhart is as dumb as drafting a WR in the first round.:thud:

The Cardinals traded up in 1993 (?) to draft Garrison Hearst. I believe they went from 4 to 3. I know that's not #1, but they have traded up in the past. So I guess it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

Any changes in who we draft or how the draft places itself following the Bowl games?

Don't know much about Ferguson, but I have scouted Haloti Ngata from Oregon, and he's the bomb. I would love the Chargers to get this guy, but I don't see him falling that far in the draft.

is Ngata the highest rated DT or even defensive player in the draft?

any chance Leinart drops to 10 if Young enters? Would Cutler go ahead of Leinart?

Does the Rose Bowl change Leinart's status?

IMO there is no way Cutler goes before Leinart, people just have obsessions with players on this board, for example Cutler, and that is why you have really seen the possibility of him as a top pick. Everywhere else you look though has him out of the top 10 and Leinart going much higher. If any team takes Cutler in the top 10 they are stupid, Ed is right on this one.
