IMO, the Suns best option at #4 would be to trade down.

However, if the Suns cannot trade down, I will go with these selections in my mock.

4. Marquese Chriss

13. Dejounte Murray

28. Cheick Diallo

34. Tyler Ulis

I think I am with you. The closer we get to the draft the more I want them to trade this pick. Either get picks in future drafts (unprotected for the #4) or get a younger player who can contribute now.

What's your reasoning?

I'd still worry about the same things today that kept us away on draft night, the concern that his knees won't make it much past his first contract. Having seen how poorly he fits next to an inside man, I can't see him making an impact for anyone unless they play him in the middle. And pair him with a good stretch forward. That parts doable if we're looking to move on from Len though.

Noel is a dominant defender already, was reading an article on him the other day (can't find it now), but he's doing ridiculous things there. Match him up with Chriss, and you have two athletic freaks at 4 and 5 to build around.

Yeah, that's a far better pairing than putting him next to someone like Okafor or Len. And he's young enough that we could wait on Chriss to develop. Okay, I'm sold with two caveats. Chriss had to have impressed us in the interview/background area and medical staff buys into Noel's knees. If those check out, go ahead and make the deal Chris. Oh wait, forgot we were fantasizing.

Seriously, I have some concerns about Noel's knees and his fit but I don't think there's any doubt he's a far superior player right now to any of the options available to us in the lottery. And there's no reason to think he's come anywhere close to his peak. But the problem comes back to Philadelphia and why they are trading him or Okafor. They want Dunn. We'd probably have to give them the 4th pick and settle for one of their picks to balance the deal. If they were willing to include a first in next year's deal, it still might work for us.

Yeah, I saw some reports earlier that Philly was willing to take a late lottery pick for Noel, so that got the wheels turning. 13 and 28, and even a player thrown in seems worth it for Noel.

His ability to guard any position on the floor seems more important than ever in the modern NBA. Both he and Chriss have the athleticism/size/length that everyone seems to be coveting. Those gents with Booker and Bledsoe would seem like something to build on.
