Thanks dude. Hopefully Kolb can keep up the good work so I can regurgitate the crow I had to eat when Skelton was named the starter. Ive never been in love with the guy but have backed him over Skelton fanatically. I was right about Warner and (sadly because I predicted him to fail since seeing him on MTV's "punked" the night before the draft) Leinart so hopefully, for all of us, that trend continues lol. I was dead wrong on Alan branch though lol, I thought he would be a beast.

As I see it, most primo receivers explode onto the scene. (You know what you're getting pretty quickly).

What's impressive about A-Rob is that he arrived relatively quietly and has improved steadily and unspectacularly from year to year to where he is today.

After watching Andre I would add he is a very tough receiver despite his size. He will catch it over the middle and take the hit and hold on to the ball. Great at getting open and finding the holes. I knew nothing about this guy when we drafted him but was worried that coming from a small school and being a small reciver he might not pan out. My concerns were totally wrong and our scouts did their job. I was impressed with his interviews as he seems well spoken and smart. You are likely to find guys like this from the Citadell. Sort of the poor mans West Point or Navy. I lived in Charleston and some of my relatives attended and graduated from there. If you do not get good grades there you do not play ball. General Mark Clark of WWII fame was the President when I was in the area. Good school who really do recruit student-athletes not athlete-students.

To be fair to those wondering on draft day what the heck was going on and then in preseason were thinking the team had wasted a 3rd round selection, the Cardinals had Boldin, Fitz, and Breaston who had combined for 6,031 yards and 46 TDs the previous two seasons and there weren't a handful of people who had ever heard of Andre Roberts. So it was natural to think that Roberts was taken to be a punt returner and then in August the reports came that he couldn't field punts.

Exactly. And here's a major reason.

A lot depends on what the offense is when the WR is drafted. In Boldin's case there was no offense. All the veteran receivers were gone and we had a brand new QB. In normal situations there is a vet QB and some vet WRs who are already a main part of the offense. AND Boldin was legendary.

No way the vet QB is going to develop better timing and trust with the rookie than he has with his veteran WRs. Same goes for the OC. Not many of them are going to make a rookie a main part of their offense when they have older WRs they can use. Jerry Rice for instance came into a situation where Dwight Clark and Roger Craig were the #1 targets for Joe Montana.
