:shocker:

So it's even worse for New Orleans than I thought. They only get one more pick in the high 20s or at 30. The swaps will be worthless, as the Lakers are all but guaranteed to have a better record than the Pelicans in those years.

Edit: Never mind. They do get the second late first round pick. The swaps are still worthless.

We agree. I would rather have Kuzma

Wow now I understand why the Pels didn't insist on Kuzma. That draft compensation is much better than I expected. Lebron is done by 2023 tops. That's basically 3 unprotected picks after Lebron is done, not to mention the 4th this year and 2021/2022 pick. Wow. The Pels just became the most asset rich team in the league. Theyre set up to be a powerhouse to 2030 and beyond. Oh, the ripple effects of landing zion.

Don't be so sure. You can pretty much count on Kawhi Leonard being a Laker once Lebron is done (and perhaps even before that happens).

I agree with this, except that outside of the #4 pick in a weak draft, I think New Orleans got garbage. Ball is trash and will be back in LA in two years, anyway. Ingram has a blood clot disorder of the same type that forced Chris Bosh into retirement after a year. Hart is nothing special. And the other first round picks will be in the high 20s if not 30. New Orleans could have received a better package during the season, in my opinion. I think they got screwed as much as we did, if not more.

Lol the pick compensation alone from the deal is a slam dunk for New Orleans.

What is a championship worth? Honestly if I thought we could get a Durant / Davis / Leonard I would do that trade

The Raptors took the swing and hit a home run with Leonard. I agree, at some point in time a team has to swing for the fences.

I started to type I would take 10 years of caca to win one championship and then I realized I basically have that and no championship

Perhaps. Perhaps not. The Lakers have been in the high lottery for awhile now. Once Lebron is gone, it's a toss up where they'll end up in the standings.

I think Kawhi is an old school bad ass who doesn't give a poo about super teams. I think he becomes the Clippers super man and will at least once knock out the LA Rich Paul's

Except that the Lakers were Kawhi's preferred team even BEFORE they acquired Anthony Davis.

We will see. I have a man crush on Kawhi right now. Any guy who tells the Spurs to kiss his ass and wins despite them is a mini hero

Don't go to the dark side Kawhi

The swaps could be extremely valuable if Zion turns into the player everyone thinks he can be, the Lakers aren't guaranteed to be a force in those years, LeBron will be done and AD is not kawhi, all he has proven in his career is he can't win , Lakers will be relying on free agents for the next 6 years, their window is now the next 3 years and then probably back to rebuild with no one on their team but AD

The Celtics reportedly did not make Jayson Tatum available for trade.

Marc Stein‏Verified account @TheSteinLine

The Boston Celtics refused to make Jayson Tatum available in trade talks with New Orleans, league sources say, putting the Lakers in prime position to strike the deal that teams Anthony Davis with LeBron James

Enjoy being the 3 seed Celtics

This is what I like about the lakers Pelicans trade. I really like the trade because the Suns are not involved and Bell is not coming here.

Agree. Suns dodged a lot of those rumors about Ball coming here. It looks like Ball will stay in New Orleans.

Kuzma is a good young player but he's a PF and at Lebron's age that is where he should be playing. Davis also prefers to play PF. So their 3 best players all play the same position, or are best at the same position.

Kuzma was there last year also, what did he help them do?

There is no guarantee they land another star and who would they be after anyway? There are stars available but someone will need to be fine with being the 3rd guy behind Davis and Lebron. They'll get paid well but their fit is questionable also, depending on who it is.

I wouldn't be so quick to crown the Lakers. Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if the Pelicans end up better than the Lakers next year.

Agreed Kuzma is an empty stat guy IMO. With a better group he might be ok but right now he's just a guy that puts up numbers in losses IMO

I was on OG Lonzo hater. Just ask @Russ Smith

And now the hate has gone too far. Lonzo would be a difference maker here and would make Ayton a better player

:shocker:

Nice haul by Griffin, but it looks like the Lakers will hold on to their 2022 pick which is the double draft.

2021 top 8 protected.
Rights to swap in 2023. LeBron will be 38.
2024 pick
Right to swap in 2025.

The Lakers won't be able to trade their first rounders to improve their team during the season in deadline deals. They'll have to wait until after the draft.

Considering he doesn't talk to anybody how do you know? Most Lakers fans I know think he wants to go to the Clippers.

I assumed NO would trade Lonzo or Jrue but it sounds like they intend to keep both. Good defensive backcourt but Lonzo can't stay healthy and IF Ingram plays they have 2 guys who want the ball(although Jrue is quite unselfish) and then Lonzo who loves to pass but hasn't yet made enough jumpshots to be effective off the ball. If you're going to feature Zion I think you need shooters to spread the floor and give him room to operate, they don't have that.

I was joking the other day but I wouldn't be at all disappointed if the Warriors made a move to get Lonzo. With Klay out you move Steph to the 2, play Lonzo at the 1 and then when Klay gets back you move Lonzo to the 3rd guard. I said it all playoffs they had to be so careful with Quinn Cook because his defense is so bad.
