When I was shouting how rigged the lottery is, this is why. I knew this was the end game.

New Orleans gets a great consolation prize for losing their top guy. The #2 market gets a top 3 player. The #1 market gets the second best player in the draft.

Everyone wins except the Suns who take it in the shorts again
"Everyone wins except the Suns?" What??

Why would they use up their max slot on Chris Paul instead of a better FA?

They wouldn’t

Nobody is trading for that contract unless they have a worse one. John wall is the only worse contract, and actually even that is debatable since he is younger.

Why are you sure they are non lottery? Lebron is already 33.

Because they got a top 3 NBA player who is young

They have a ton of cap space to sign another player

They didn't give up their best young player in the deal

They are a destination franchise

They have a major agent trying to move talent to them

The writing is on the wall

Nice haul by Griffin, but it looks like the Lakers will hold on to their 2022 pick which is the double draft.

Rights to swap in 2023. LeBron will be 38.
2024 pick
Right to swap in 2025.

The Lakers won't be able to trade their first rounders to improve their team during the season in deadline deals. They'll have to wait until after the draft.

Holy crap. That’s a lot to give up for AD

They have enough cap space to sign one max player, that’s it. Kemba is not exactly young either if they can get him.

Lebrons age was already starting to show last season.

Davis is the 5th best player at best.

They still have a disaster for a front office and gm.

A lot changes year to year.

They probably will be the best team next year, but how they look 3 or 4 years from now is unknowable.

Theres a good chance they are in the lottery those years, they aren't the destination ESPN makes them out to be or else players besides the aging LeBron would actually be signing with them, they had to make this trade because they were not and still aren't going to get any of the top free agents this year , AD is good not quite top 3 but he never won anything in New Orleans if he can't win with LeBron in the next couple of years LA will become exactly what the pelicans were with him

Is he?

At center your starting a franchise right now. Is it such a sure thing to take Davis over Jokic or Embiid?

I def take Jokic over AD

I said at best. I would probably take Jokic over him too, but that is not a popular opinion. Embid at his best is better, but he is so injury prone I would def prefer Davis over him.

We've been hearing about how it's a done deal that multiple stars are joining the Lakers every year since well before Kobe tore his achilles. For me, signing Lebron near the end of his career doesn't wipe that away. I'm not trying to ridicule the Lakers for what some fans have been saying but there have been a lot of reports from the various NBA reporters too and until James signed, all of them proved false.
And now in the most recent - some would argue most pertinent for NOW - past they’re two-for-two in getting two of the most talented players in the league.

And you can say “near end of his career” Lebron if you need to in order to feel better about it, but the truth is he’s likely still a top 3 player in the league. Add Davis and it prolongs his effectiveness. Having those two in LA will undoubtedly attract more talent. We just have to face it - it’s not a matter of a poor organization being inept with LA . . . as long as they are in LA players will go there. It’s been proven for decades. Why fool yourself?

Sigh...please don't make me explain why the Lakers are a million years ahead of the Suns because it depresses the poo out of me

LeBron isn't the star here. They are making him the third option which is flatly crazy. LeBron is our Kelly Oubre

Okay...so he is the 5th best player in your rankings. Where are our players? That is why this sucks.

That disaster of a front office signed a top 5 all time player last year and just got a current top 5 (your ranking) this year. And that old guy is still top 15. We would be dancing in the damn streets to be this incompetent.

Things change year to year? What is our year to year change?

In 3-4 years they are pitching "Come play with our top 5 player in the second biggest market and also your wife wants to be here"

So how do you explain the last 6 years or so?

The lakers are not going to have any cap room, and are not going to have picks either.

That is not working out so well for Houston right now.

No there isn't a "good chance"

There is a marginal chance based only on injury and the complete inability to recruit

The swaps could be extremely valuable if Zion turns into the player everyone thinks he can be, the Lakers aren't guaranteed to be a force in those years, LeBron will be done and AD is not kawhi, all he has proven in his career is he can't win , Lakers will be relying on free agents for the next 6 years, their window is now the next 3 years and then probably back to rebuild with no one on their team but AD
I agree with this.

Marginal based only on injury? You mean with two players who were both injured last year? Alot can happen in a years time let alone 3 or more , the warriors dynasty wasn't supposed to end for another couple of years and now look what two injures did to them , I'd say there's a high chance they don't recruit very many players who are they going to sign this year? Kemba is gonna stay in Charlotte he already said he wants too, Kyrie is all but going to the nets. They couldn't get Paul George to join LeBron. They have cap space now but also only have like 5 players under contract , they are going to be forced to sign lower talent veterans just to fill out the roster , I'd say 50-50 they are in the lottery in 3 years

I think monte is the guy that will lead him there, and I am not worried at all, he will be an all star.

He is too talented not to be an all star. We need all NBA to make it to the top stage. Booker too though
