Good luck, nobody will trade for him with that contract.

Is there anyway he could void it?

It's hard to imagine Paul doing it at 34. I'm not sure what he is thinking.

Could a deal with LA work for Kuzma? It's intriguing, if nothing else. Lebron would need to agree but that keeps the Lakers from having to shop for a FA and potentially coming up empty. I don't know how he'd fit there but he'd be the Steve Nash to Anthony Davis' Dwight Howard and Lebron's Kobe.

If I'm Houston and can unload Paul for Kuzma I call the league office without letting LA off the phone to get that done ASAP.

The LAbrons might be the only team to trade for Paul. And that would be glorious.

With the timing of the announcement, it actually makes sense.

This is the worst example yet.

You fool yourself into believing that your team might have a shot if they could just get one more player or that number one pick and then a bunch of aholes punch you in the stomach and steal your lunch money.

And when they’re done they’re gonna sell your kids shoes and Sprite and luxury cars and act like they earned it all fair and square.

Maybe I should try and exact some small amount of joy rooting against them.

Screw it. It’s all a joke.

Unless the Suns somehow figure out how to beat them, then.........

It’s like we’re all playin poker with the Lakers and they get to choose 5 cards from the deck before we play each hand.

Lol you say that like it hasn’t happened. Lebron freaking James signed there LAST OFFSEASON. And Davis forced his way there THIS OFFSEASON. What exactly are you claiming isn’t working in attracting top talent? I wish the suns were that bad at attracting top talent. Sheesh.

We've been hearing about how it's a done deal that multiple stars are joining the Lakers every year since well before Kobe tore his achilles. For me, signing Lebron near the end of his career doesn't wipe that away. I'm not trying to ridicule the Lakers for what some fans have been saying but there have been a lot of reports from the various NBA reporters too and until James signed, all of them proved false.

The Lakers have max cap space still. They only have 5 players under contract next year, Lebron, Davis, Kuzma, Moritz Wagner, and Isaac Bonga. The deal would take up all of their space but it depends on how much they have in order to make it work. I'm sure they'd throw in Wagner and Bonga if need be, both are due about $1.5 million, so that would add another $3 million in outgoing salary to go with Kuzma's $2 million, which means they'd need $33 million or so to make it work.

Doesn't help that the league basically made this trade happen with the lottery.

Pelicans don't get the #1 and the Lakers the #4 then the #2 market doesn't get a top 3 player in the NBA

Why would they use up their max slot on Chris Paul instead of a better FA?

That's true. I'm quite sure it was the power franchises that led the way for this change anyway.

Lebron's buddy? Plus they do need a PG. I don't think they would, btw, just wishful thinking on my part. It might get them a title right away but it should handcuff them for a few years afterwards.

:shocker:

Wow now I understand why the Pels didn't insist on Kuzma. That draft compensation is much better than I expected. Lebron is done by 2023 tops. That's basically 3 unprotected picks after Lebron is done, not to mention the 4th this year and 2021/2022 pick. Wow. The Pels just became the most asset rich team in the league. Theyre set up to be a powerhouse to 2030 and beyond. Oh, the ripple effects of landing zion.

When I was shouting how rigged the lottery is, this is why. I knew this was the end game.

New Orleans gets a great consolation prize for losing their top guy. The #2 market gets a top 3 player. The #1 market gets the second best player in the draft.

Everyone wins except the Suns who take it in the shorts again

It's hard to get a handle on this. And a lot of Suns fans didn't want Dave Griffin as GM.

What is a championship worth? Honestly if I thought we could get a Durant / Davis / Leonard I would do that trade

I doubt they sign Lebron to another extension. They’ll probably sign another star by the time those picks convey but it’s an impressive hall for sure.

Correct. They got a top 3 player in the NBA who is also young. What are 5 non lottery picks worth?

I agree with this, except that outside of the #4 pick in a weak draft, I think New Orleans got garbage. Ball is trash and will be back in LA in two years, anyway. Ingram has a blood clot disorder of the same type that forced Chris Bosh into retirement after a year. Hart is nothing special. And the other first round picks will be in the high 20s if not 30. New Orleans could have received a better package during the season, in my opinion. I think they got screwed as much as we did, if not more.
