Shortstop Tony Womack suffered a moderate sprain of his medial collateral ligament in his left knee in the fifth inning of a 7-0 victory at Detroit. He is scheduled to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging exam Monday in Phoenix to determine the extent of the damage.

Womack will be sidelined for at least two weeks and will be placed on the disabled list today. Third baseman Shea Hillenbrand, who was scheduled to be activated from the 15-day DL on Monday in Colorado, was pulled from his rehabilitation assignment for Triple-A Tucson at Las Vegas after grounding out in his only at-bat and took a flight to Detroit.<<

Do you start Shea? I would. I also think the Tiggers mailed it in this series. If BB has any visions of tinkering with the lineup todays game provides an ideal oppurtunity. I'm thinking something like Kata in right, Hammock behind the plate, Shea at 1st, Grace at second.

Womack placed on DL; Hillenbrand activated
DETROIT -- Arizona D'backs shortstop Tony Womack was placed on the 15-day disabled list after spraining his right knee Saturday night.

Shea Hillenbrand was activated off the DL to take Womack's place. He is expected to arrive in Detroit on Sunday morning. Hillenbrand had an aggravated oblique muscle.

Womack was carried off the field in the sixth inning Saturday night after spraining his right knee.

He fielded a chopper by Detroit's A.J. Hinch near the mound and threw Hinch out at first, then fell to the ground writhing and screaming in pain and grabbed the back of his knee.

The Diamondbacks announced that Womack will return to Phoenix for an MRI on Sunday.
