It's a good thing the Cards didn't have towels last year or quite a few fans would have already thrown them into the ring and we are 3 weeks away from the start of the season.

Now is the time for Grimm to earn his pay. He's going to have the raise the level of play from our other O linemen and the FO will have to see if they can dig up a few more bodies.

Instead of crying over spilt milk, go out and do something about it and if this team ever hopes to make the playoffs, they are going to have to overcome little problems like this.

I keep hearing everyone talk about lack of depth. What NFL team doesn't have a lack of depth in certain areas. It's impossible to have starter level players as back ups at every position. The good teams make their back ups play above their skill levels because the back ups don't want to let their teammates down.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? No, and it's not over now. We shall fight them in the trenches and overcome the bad ref calls and the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. The only way is up and we will head in that direction if we have to crawl on our hands and knees through the swill of adversity. We shall not rest until we reach the top. This is SPARTA!!!!!

Ok, I have to say it. When did the German's bomb Pearl Harbor?

Ah yes. I would have got that, if he had said another line or two. The fact that he quoted 300 at the end threw me off.

Certainly understandable. I find myself quoting 300 all the time because it's so ridiculously over the top.

lol ... first game of the preseason and there is already crying. Ros is not much of a loss. Chike is a leader but not dominant. We are going to be fine. 9-7.

9-7, not with that defense. Pendergrast has some work to do before Sept.

Nobody is crying because the Cards lost the first game of preseason. They're upset because we may have lost a guy who had 52 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 2 Forced Fumbles and 7 passes defensed last year and they've seen 4 years of Calvin Pace.

is there any word on how long they will be out? I know it's been guessed they are missing the whole season but has that been confirmed or debunked anywhere? It seems to me possible they might be able to be back for the tail-end of the season.

Berry staying healthy is absolutely necessary right now

Most of Chike's sacks came after Bert went down -- Bert is really the only proven off the edge rusher the team has.

Blackstock (who Wis just said will be the guy who gets the chance to step in) can rush the passer -- its everything else that concerns me

Sorry, Dream. I know it had already been resolved, but I can never resist posting the response to that line :)

I know. It is a great movie.

As his 1 sack in 30 career games can attest.

true, so very true.

I guess what I was trying to communicate is that I have reas is that Blackstock has been one- dimmensional. He has pass rush skills, but he couldnt be trusted to always carry out assignments that didnt involve rushing the QB.

Question:

Any interest now in Simeon Rice?

not exactly the same player as Chike, but he could help in spots (assuming he would even come here).

I was interested in him then and I am interested in him still. I dont care what he said 5 years ago we have plenty of leaders to put him in his place.

Let Pace or Blacktstock play 1st and 2nd down then bring in Rice. Heck put Pace in on 1st, Blackstock in on 2nd, then Rice in on 3rd. LB by committee. What ever the heck will get us back Okeafers 8 sacks and 8 tackles for loss per season.

Those 8 sacks and TFL's are going to be missed in a huge way.

Thats if he can pass a physical and only looking for a 1-2 year deal.

If you are going to play Rice, you might as well figure we won't be able to stop the run. The only person Rice will tackle is the QB.

Oh we have depth. Its just shiddy depth!

Yeah you sure were right about how foolish it was to resign LD to a 1year tender back in February.

I say that big salary (which by the way we could have easily afforded with the cap room we had at the time and still would have been able to sign the FA's we wanted) and those false starts look pretty good right now don't they?
