Sorry, but I can't see paying Rice the amount of money he'll want to only use him a dozen times a game.

There are a lot of guys who make a lot of money and are used only a handful of times a game if at all.

Rackers and Warner for instance. :D

Seriously though how would a situational pass rusher be any different than BJ Johnson who is a situational pass catcher?

So where is this money coming from to sign Rice or someone else? I thought we were all spent up?

We were all spent up until we dropped Brown, Clancy, and Ross took his 1 Mill Paycut.

After the rookies signed we still have 3-4 mill left. And thats after paying our PS. That is also before we make our final cuts which will inevitably gives up even more cap room that will suffice our mid season extensions.

Not really. Those guys weren't really that good and were making too much money for the production we were getting out of them.

:bang:

;)

Maybe we will get lucky and pickup someones cuts in the next couple of weeks who may pan out. Better the injury now than on the last preseason game.

 Thanks...I didn't realize we had that much cash left.

If you thought Rice, in a situational pass rusher role-- could give you 6 or 7 sacks for the year with a couple forced fumbles --

I would take that.

THe Cards defense, just like the last half of last year, doesnt seem to have a problem with 1st and 2nd down--- its third down, no matter how long it seems. The Raiders were 8/17 on third down -- and at one point I think they something like 7/11.

that has to stop.

MESA! :thud:
You haven't been a card fan long....It only takes 6 weeks into the season to know we are done. :D
 I get to be old & still have youthful optimism--it's great! I've always been a "follower", just never a real die-hard fan. I'm glad I have y'all to lead me in my apparent impending misery! :D

Sorry,

I had flashbacks to losing losing two starters in Minnesota that one preseason game several years ago and had a little deja vu. We are not done but our road just got a lot rougher. I really feel bad for Chike and Ross.
That sounds a little better; no need to apologize. I just hate to see a real fan so down so early in the season. There's hope. Our offense could LIGHT IT UP and we won't need a stellar defense!! :D

Joe,
You should try for an NFL job concerning the cap. I still can believe your knowledge and understanding of the system.

Well done!

PS - I still don't want us to sign Rice
