How freaking asisine some of the posts on this board have become tonight. "This defense isn't that talented." "I'm underwhelmed with PP", "Ryan Williams this.." "We were exposed on national tv.."

Who cares about national perception? If you have followed this team for any length of time this team has NEVER gotten good press. All wins are usually with an asterisk.

This team is 4 years removed from being called the "Worst playoff team ever!"

We are 5 weeks removing from many people proclaiming this team as "The worst in the league!"

What the hell is going on here? We lost a game and offensively looked terrible doing so... 5 DAYS after we looked like crap and STILL WON!

Really?

Is this what this place has become? I am so stoked to even still be in the conversation after a quarter of the season.. I don't know what to do.

We lost this game on the piss poor offensive play. Not because of the defense... not because of Kolb missing passes (which he did) We lost because we could not block worth a damn.. and the team was too worn out to put up a fight. The Oline mailed it in tonight.

People had threads calling Kolb a "franchise QB" and defending him as a possible MVP candidate last week. Are you really that surprised?

Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat

we don't need to go over board in either case

The thread about MVP was legitimate because it was first of all brought up by an independent and neutral outside source. I for one do not recall anyone here claiming that Kolb is, was, or will be MVP. I think the concensus was that based on the topic at hand, his play up until tonight, the team's record, and history involved.. he deserved to be mentioned.

I said mentioned. Likely? Hell no... a chance? Sure up until tonight.

There is venting... and then there is outright lying ********. PP is underwhelming? By who's standards? Hall of Fame cornerback Deion has been saying PP has the best ball skills in the league.

Several knowledgeable football people have been saying for weeks that PP is top 5 if not top 2 corner in this league. People basically saying that because amendola caught about 5 passes tonight that PP is underwhelming?

Whatever helps you sleep. Any person who has watched the Cardinals this season should have laughed at Sando's ridiculous article which I interpreted as, Kolb must be the MVP if he has the Cardinals 4-0.

There was a thread five days ago calling out all the "Kolb haters" to come out and apologize because Kolb had "revealed himself" to be a Franchise QB. Was that a legitimate comment to be made?

how often do you EVER see former All-pro players end up as GMs/talent evaluators? oh yeah... NEVER. Deion can say whatever he wants, but PP didn't play well tonight. He's a solid CB, but this talk that he's a shutdown is so far from reality at this point. Brian freaking Hartline and Danny Amendola have lit him up the last couple weeks.

he's a good corner and will without a doubt get better, but people are getting ahead of themselves with "shutdown corner" talk, IMO.

Classic trap game...never felt we would win tonight. Oline has developed a pattern of mediocre play and we should bitch about that...that said we are 4-1. Time will tell if the O gets it together and helps out a worn out D. I think anyone that wants to vent can do it with the prism of a great start and now we have to gear up for a tough schedule.

You act like I wanted the guy for MVP. If you go back and look in that thread I seriously doubt you would even see me posting in there. I thought it was silly at first, but after reading Sando's arguement... it made sense to put Kolb in the conversation AFTER THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE SEASON. It was a space filler of a blog. People got bored and ran with it. So what?

Not really. I refused to get suckered into the chest beating that has been going on the past couple of weeks on either side. I read posts here and there, but I prefer to read opposing viewpoints for my information.. especially when we are winning. It helps me compare our team against others more honestly.

I have seen enough other games and other teams to say that we are not as bad as they played tonight. We are definetely better than most people think. I never thought this team was superbowl bound nor did I ever think Kolb had arrived. I was just glad the team was winning and he was able to stick in back in a few people's face. He is what he is. A mediocre quarterback. I still think that can be good enough for this team.

Get used to it! All of our games will look like this this year. We were in this game all the way up to the missed 4th down in the red zone with 3 minutes left. All of our games have been fairly similar, close, needing a comeback, looking inept for 3 quarters, mounting a rally, etc. No team can keep winning games by 1 and 2 points at the end each week. This is our team, we have to live with it. It isn't pretty, even the wins. So don't be in shock when we lose a good number of them.

My point has nothing to do with YOU. It points out that overreaction runs rampant with football fans and especially on message boards and that should not be surprising. Ever.

First of all... did you actually watch last week's game? Because if you did.. you would have seen that PP was NOT covering Hartline for most of the game. Hartline was going HAM on who ever was on the OTHER SIDE OF THE FIELD. It was Gay that was being torched. He who was "benched" in favor of Toler.

I don't know. What I saw from watching the coach's film early in the year (against Philly and New England in particular) was that teams were rushing us with 4, expecting that our tackles would lose 1-on-1 matchups and be physically overpowered.

That didn't happen. Then Miami (especially in the 4th quarter) started dialing up five- and six-man blitzes and daring Kevin Kolb to beat them. He was (barely) able to, because the defense bailed him out a couple of times. St. Louis saw this and started bringing the heat on Kevin Kolb.

Kolb suddenly started looking like the Kolb was saw around--let's say--Week 5 of the NFL season last year. Kolb still hasn't shown that he can respond to pressure and make opposing defenses pay for bringing it on him. Especially late in tonight's game, Kolb's eye level was so low that he was getting pressured and flustered when the opposing D was only bringing 3 rushers.

yeah... i did. Hartline got EVERYONE in that game and PP didn't make much of a dent anywhere else as Tannenhill, the previous bust, DOUBLED his output and threw for 1 yard short of an NFL record.

Peterson will be fine. I want to know... what the hell is going on in your avatar?

Well it is surprising that for me personally posting here for over 8 years.. at what seems like a million more following this team, that I thought WE as a board had matured in our expectations and overall lack of "notoriety." I guess some people really got caught up in the "hype" of a 4-0 start.

I on the other hand was just enjoying the ride. Not too high, not too low. I saw a couple of the posts over the last few weeks and frankly ignored them. I took time out of an otherwise mundane Thursday to really read this board in depth and am just amazed at the overall lack of football intelligence.

People should actually take a step away and actually listen to unbiased opinions that are fairly easy to find nowadays. This team is very capable of winning if people actually paid attention. Most people have not been. Even so called fans of this team.

i think he'll be fine too, but right now, i think he's getting more love than he deserves. he's still got work to do if he wants to legitimately become a shut-down corner.

Cheese,

Look I don't know what you've been doing this year.. but you are not on your A-game. You have not been paying attention. I have argued with you in the past, but I have generally agreed with you more times than not over the years (save for the McCown years).

How the hell are you saying Tannehill is a bust? You do know he is a rookie right? Last week was his 4th GAME EVER IN THE NFL. He is not a second year player.

Miami has been in love with him. You have not been following. I was at first over confident, but I started reading up on him leading into the game... the more I read, the more I heard (dolphins podcasts) people were generally pleased to estatic about the guy. Come gameday. It was a complete coin toss in my book. That is why I have not posted a record or prediction on this board in YEARS. I don't consider anybody a bust until the proof is overwhelming. You just don't know who when or what is going to happen.
