Okafor has to be really bad if he is not even active on sunday considering the lack of pass rushers...2 4th rounders inactive.great draft

Way to early to condemn this draft based on 4th rd selections. There is a reason they were taken later in the draft, they have skills but need time to develop.

I cannot figure out why Kevin Minter isnt starting.

He was a 2nd rounder. Thats a diet 1st round pick. Equal talent, half the ego, and twice the motivation.

DWash was a 2nd rounder. Minter is not a depth guy. He was drafted to be a cornerstone of this defense on equal footing with Daryl and PP.

I wonder if hes had terrible practices? The LBs starting now are awful, so I cant imagien hes THAT bad. He was a stud in college and hes supposedly an extremely intelligent guy.

I want Minter to start. I think hed be a HUGE upgrade

In pass coverage, Minter is improving. He gets good depth in his drops and shows the potential to play some man coverage. Minter can pick up backs out of the backfield and run with them. He is going to need to work on his ability to cover receiving tight ends given the passing-obsessed state of the NFL. Minter has the speed, but will need to work on his technique in running with them downfield. He is a good blitzer who can contribute to the pass rush.

Minter is a physical player. He hits ball-carriers with authority and plays the game with an attitude. Minter has a mean streak and the demeanor to be an enforcer in the middle of the field.

Minter has three-down ability for the NFL and looks like a future starter. He may need some development and therefore not win a starting spot immediately. However before long, Minter should force his way onto the field. He has the size and physicality to function on the inside of a 3-4 defense but retains the speed to play the middle in a 4-3. Minter is very versatile and looks like a good value as a pick in the back half of the first round.

This is one scouting report and might be the reason he isn't in yet.

Everyone will get better when DWash comes back.

I hear yah but DWash won't turn Acho and Alexander into good pass rushers. Sure they may make more plays but the fact is we need a legit OLBer or two who can rush the passer.

BA said in his presser that he isn't concerned about the lack of sacks because we are getting good pressure and made Stafford throw the ball away 3 or 4 times. I'm okay if we are middle of the pack in sacks and in the top 5 with pressures but I don't see it happening at this point.

I'm not a Brinkley fan and would also like to see Minter getting playing time before him but I'm not all in like yourself. Let's give it some time for Minter to increase his playing time. It's not like he isn't getting any reps on D.

3 out of 10 on third down would seem to indicate that something is working.

Something is in fact working but I think about the Saints this weekend and the 49ers & Seahawks in our division and still believe an elite pass rusher is needed.

Don't forget a 2nd rounder inactive (Ryan Williams)!

Steve Keim: Super Scout.

Minter is high second round pick and doesnt see the field, cant he share some plays with brinkley and dansby?

FWIW, I think that Kevin Minter was a "value" pick, or at least was made so after Dansby became available. The team liked Brinkley enough to get him at the outset of Free Agency, and Dansby is a leader and reliable veteran. Minter is earning his bones on special teams right now. While that might be a problem for the 2014 Arizona Cardinals, the 2013 Arizona Cardinals are a more consistent unit without a rookie in the middle of the defense.

Stafford being his typical streaky self?

3 for 22 on third down conversions combined. Just the Cards and Lions being their usual crummy selves.

Too bad we can't play Detroit every week. We'd be 16-0.

Just hope we can get a kid like Anthony Barr next year if we can't get an elite LT or a young QB. Barr is going to be a terrific NFL player. 3 forced fumbles against Nebraska after the Nebraska coaches admitted their entire offensive gameplan was schemed to keep Barr off their QB.

People now have him going top 5 so I hope we're not bad enough to get him but if we are, just a terrific player.

Van Noy from BYU is the kid we need Russ...this kid has the WOW factor this D needs & IMO has superstar written all over because of his effort & skills. IMO he's flying under the radar & Barr isn't in his league as a player

He's only listed at 235, Barr is over 250 now that's the main difference on paper.

I haven't seen BYU so no idea, I have a hard time believing there's an OLB in the country who is so much better than Barr that he's not in their league, especially considering it's only his 2nd year playing defense.

But I'm biased, I started talking about Barr after his 3rd game last year.

Right! and the last 14 games subtract D-town out and the Cards are still 0-12

Hard to believe that the only team we've beaten since September 30, 2012 is Detroit.

How in the world do you go 3-15 then 11-2 and then 2-12?

You gotta love Cardinal football.

Using that sequence, the Cards are due for another good streak. Let's say 11-2 and that means they'll be 12-3 going into game 16. Playoffs, here we come.
