If the Suns don't acquire another 1st round in the draft, would you be be disappointed?

I sure as hell would be because I think Gortat needs to be traded asap instead of waiting til trade deadline when he will have even less value. I think Gortat could easily net a lottery pick in this draft and the Suns should take advantage of that and use it on someone who can help this team in the long run.

I won't be mad because I trust in McDonough to make the right choice but it would still disappoint me...

It remains to be seen whether he'll have less value. After last year, I can't see his value dropping much lower than it is right now. If we get rid of Beasley and put an actual team on the court, Gortat's numbers should pick up quite a bit. I expect to see him play defense the way he did at the start of last season before the chemistry drove everyone's performance south and if that happens, he should be worth more than the low first round pick we can probably get for him now. I'd be more comfortable with the idea of trading Gortat tomorrow if our goal is to simply field the worst team possible this season.

To the question at hand, yes, I would be disappointed if we didn't add another 1st round pick. But, my disappointment wouldn't really be aimed at the organization. I'd be disappointed the way a kid is when he realizes he's unwrapped all his presents.

I won't be disappointed. I don't expect them to. But if they did, it would be a nice bonus.

If I knew what their options were I might be disappointed they didn't acquire one but I don't expect to find out that information so I'll just hope their chosen course is a good one. Heck, Noel might fall to us and then we get Withey at #30 and work a deal for Thomas Robinson (Houston). No new pick but we still got what I wanted - bigs that can defend

Even if Gortat improved his play, why would a team trade for Gortat at the deadline when they can just sign him as FA 5 months later without giving up any assets?

Especially since Gortat's already brought it up many times that he doesn't like the Suns much and doesn't have a desire to be here.

how about because they are trying to make a playoff run and/or know they will not have the money under the salary cap to sign him during the summer as a free agent?

That said, I would prefer moving him this summer.

Every year everyone talks about acquiring another pick, and it rarely happens. I will be happy if they acquire another one, but not disappointed if they don't. I would be fine moving some people for future first round picks too.

Yes, I'd like for the Suns to pick up another first round pick or even another second. I'm sort of like AzStevenCal as I want more "presents" to open.

It really depends. If I find out another team acquired a pick for a deal we could have matched, I'll be disappointed.

By that same token though, if we acquire a pick at a costly package (by giving up a 2014 pick, for example) I'll be disappointed as well.

A team making a playoff run likely wont give up any good players since the players are probably contributing to the playoff success and they don't wanna ruin the chemistry. And the draft pick we acquire from a playoff team has much less value than acquiring a lottery pick today.

That's assuming these teams only own their own draft picks.

Most playoff teams other than the Bulls only own their own draft picks or own other teams picks which are likely just as bad.

In this particular draft, I wouldn't be disappointed. I think most teams would prefer if the league just cancelled this year's draft altogether and let them save their picks for next year.

Having more picks is always better, even a perceived weak class. You increase your odds of hitting on a good player. Im hoping the Suns can get a pick in the 10-20 range.

I find it ironic that we hated having picks in the 10-20 range the past few years. :D

I think the Suns under Blanks has been using mocks to make their picks instead of thoroughly evaluating the talent. This may be an exaggeration, but IMO, not by much.
