Okay from a marketing point of view, Lakers would do it.
Nash + Los Angeles = Another celebrity-type player, even has more potential than Kobe since A) Kobe doesnt have the best public image B) Kobe isn't caucasian...
now hear me out, I'm not saying its a "race" thing... well it is and it isnt... its sports nonetheless where african-american athletes dominate the popular sports. But Nash being this 6'3, former MVP, canadian... and caucasian... he'd have a celebrity team chasing him around putting him on as much tabloids as possible... although Nash is the opposite of a typical hollywood guy... he is very private and shy... but since when has that stopped the media over there?
Another reason why Lakers would love Dirk Nowitski... its just the aura of a non-african american athlete being one of the best in basketball.... L.A and the media there would love it...
Having David Beckham in LA and paying him ridiculous amounts of money, for a significantly declined player, far from his best days, yet getting even more money.... its all a plan to get celebrities on the seats... boost "prestige" etc...especially Soccer.... a sports that doesnt or wont even generate as much money as in South America or Europe... yet Beckham is getting 275 Million dollars... Sponsorships etc... ..
Nash and Nowitski will do that in L.A.... they stand out from their peers, easy to make them appeal to the L.A crowd...Also NY would be another place..
Again its all the superficiality of it.. and L.A and New York is probably the 2 most superficial cities in the world.
