The decisions he's made the last few weeks has to make fans with any brain think about this. No coach imaginable leaves Lindley in that game yesterday!!! Omg can you imagine what happens if he's back & Hortons leaves? I'm thinking the UoP Stadium will be burned to the ground.
Nope. It will simply be two-thirds empty during Cardinals games...

Fans are kind of fickle when it comes to questioning the coaches and players. We pretend to want some candor, but we really don't because when it's offered we're like OMG, what a *******. You want honesty? Denny Green was totally being honest with his "Crown their ass, they are who we thought they were," rant. That was real. People still laugh a decade later. Same thing with Jim Morra's "Playoffs?" rant. That wasn't even the best part of what he said, but it's all anyone remembers. Makes people laugh, but it was real--and the candid part prior to that soundbite was him talking about his teams 5 turnovers (4 INT's, does that sound familiar?) and how bad his team sucked. Didn't matter.

You can go down the list of candid things players or coaches say and we crucify them every single time. Derek Anderson saying the game is important to him...we still laugh about that. Leinart being unhappy about losing his job (is he supposed to suck it up and pretend to like being a sucker, like Alex Freaking Smith, who by the way just got benched again). Players saying they didn't know a game could end in a tie. Coaches saying they mishandled a two-minute situation, etc etc on and on.

No, we say we want him/them to be candid but we don't really, we just want more fodder to crucify them with. That's the bottom line. It's a wonder they say anything at all. I'd probably go up there and say, "Good afternoon. Go screw yourselves, thanks."

Want candid - go watch a Bill Belichick press conference! :sarcasm: :)

Don't bother looking for any of this on the official website.

They are busy trying to cover everything up, and make it all go away.

The Bidwills are experts at this. They know they have a piss poor team, and for decades have experience in being so bad that no one cares, so all you have to do and release the smallest amount of information possible, and just let the few fans they have left suffer.

Doug and Wolf ? LOL. They are busy trying to find ANYTHING to talk about other than Cardinal football.

Yup. Yet he is considered the best coach in the league by a wide margin. hes about as vague as they come. Yet people will say he is winning so hes entitled. lol.

Yeah, sympathy for the millionaires whose part of there job is to talk to the press.

Yeah, sorry, I forgot, its a business when the fans get screwed over, and a family when the players/coaches fall on hard times.

I understand your point, and all but we are Cardinals fans here. Last week was SHOCKINGLY bad. When I say bad, I mean bad for the Cardinals, and that is a level of bad that needs some explanation.

The players and coaches don't have to answer, but that is worse, IMO. Plus the gloss over, B.S. answers are not helping. Not now.

Denny Green - he was candid when he knew it was too crazy to play the "gloss over answer to questions card".

Whiz unfortunately sounds like either an idiot or an hypocrite.

To be honest I wasn't looking for answers this morning, I was looking for someone else to be answering the questions.

I cannot see how what happened last game is justifiable in any person's eyes that respect NFL football. Cause that was atrocious.

As for this ?

"Good afternoon. Go screw yourselves, thanks."

You would be fined by the league, you would be disciplined by your organization if not fired, and fined by the media outlet you insulted. Not to mention you are paid millions to do, what it is your job to do.

If the coaches and players don't like it, then do your job better.

Not only that, how hypocritical can you get ?

"Fans are fickle"

"Fans are this, and fans are that."

LOL. Do people that post that crap realize they are a fan themselves ?

Fans have every right to demand answers. They can point and laugh at whomever they choose.

Not my fault a NFL player's job is to entertain me and all the blood, sweat, tears, and sacrifice they put into it doesn't mean jack squat if the results are not what I expect. Tough cookies. They are paid more than well for what they do, and they show ZERO loyalty to the fans outside of there "dog and pony" shows they put on to make us feel like they give a crap.

So, Whiz and company can suck it up, and answer the questions. That ? Last week ? Unacceptable. If you equated that to any job, 9 times out of 10 that person would have been fired.

Nuff said right there.

.....Ugh. I don't mean to rant Darkside. It is a good post, just the wrong day and after the wrong game, and wrong season.

You cannot perform that bad, and in any walk of life and not expect people to ask, "Sir, just what in the hell do you think you are doing ?"

I think if I came home after sitting naked around the office all day singing Avie Maria, and saying "Well, I thought it give the company the best chance to move forward." People are going to ask me some questions. A lot of them and a lot of tough questions.

You just cannot be that piss poor at what you do and expect not to answer for it. Sorry. No.

Still gets asked tough questions when they lose badly.

He got asked some tough questions after the one and done against the Ravens.

Saying he is entitled is ridiculous.

Saying he is an unprofessional jackass at times, that is 100% true. That is on him. Not saying bad or good, but that is what is said about him at times.

True all of that which is why I only listen to pressers after wins, the losses are all bland typical excuses.

You get more honesty when they win cause it worked.

I don't really give a crap what Whiz says, I only care about winning the games or at least the hint that someday soon we can start winning games, he can blather all he wants about whatever it'd be wasted time listening to it.

Doug and Wolf played it supersafe this afternoon with Ken on the show. Focused on the Dockett Rhodes scrap, and kept asking Whiz about his mentallity, and how he feels about this defense. Afterwards, Doug brought up some good points about Whiz's failing as a coach, but each time back pedal'd into "Whiz deserves 2013 though.."

Interesting. I was listening to the Boston sports talk radio WEEI during the Bobby Valentine mess and Bobby V was essentially doing a Belichick and the media was ripped. This exact point was brought up and they said the ONLY reason Belichick gets away with it is because he wins.

Even a doofus like Rex Ryan was smart enough to replace Mark Sanchez with an unproven 7th round draft choice. There are probably 27 or 28 NFL coaches who would have pulled Lindley in the second half IMO. The other 2 or 3 will be unemployed on December 31 with the possible exception of Ken Whisenhunt.

Heres my issue with these thoughts (not just yours, but with the many posters who feel this way). Last week, Whiz WAS like Rex Ryan. Im sorry, but after 5 or 6 weeks of QB futility. And it absolutely WAS futility, we had enough. Skelton, who I REALLY wanted to be the QBOF, finally threw the straw that broke the camels back. Missing Fitz like that was it. Game. Over. Whiz dd what he had to do, and whether or not it turned out to be the right call (obviously, Lindley aint ready for this stage.), we made it. I applaud him for that. After 6 weeks of stank, that throw was the cherry on top.

Now, he's painted himself into a corner, for sure. He cant go back to Skelton. Unlike Sanchez, who I think stinks to high heaven, but has shown flashes of real NFL cliber ability, Skelton sucks HUGE nads. Going back to him a week later would essentially be saying, its cool. Go back out there and suck again. I dont want that. He stayed with Lindley (and even Billick was saying "You cant go back to Skelton" during the game) and he needed to ride that crap horse outta the corner he painted himself into. Unfortunately, Lindley just finished to final coat with that performance.

Whiz is Effed. Hes completely out of options at this point until Kolb is ready to play. I sure as hell wouldnt want to be him right now.... "Which turd can I drop in the punch bowl this week????" He should be accountable for the positiona he finds himself in, no doubt.

And all of this doesnt even account for everything that happens off camera and outside the pressers that we can only speculate on.

He created the problem, but theres NO WAY, imo, that he can EVER go back to Skelton. He has to ride this shitshow into the offseason, and hope for the best.

First of all, your earlier post about fans laughing at what coaches and players say was an all-time classic! Great stuff, Darkside!

My question about your thoughts here is whether the Bidwills have ever moved that fast on any decision they make.

If I had my guess, they are asking Horton what plan he would have for the offense if he was promoted to HC.

And that, like the QB situation, no decision has been made or will be made until the season is played out.

It makes little sense to fire Whisenhunt now because Horton would be stuck with Whisenhunt's sycophant, equally inept offensive coaches.

And it wouldn't be classy.

The only offensive assistant who might be able to grab a hold of the reins in a 4 game interim is WRC Frank Reich---which I think would be very interesting to see, seeing as he's been with Peyton Manning the past several years and has seen how efficient offenses are run.

I think that depends on what you mean by "moving that fast." Even if they fire him after this season I don't think they're necessarily moving fast. This team hasn't been competitive for years. Years. In my opinion they've already given him a tremendous leash. Some people act like it's sudden, like it's just 1 bad year, but it's consecutive suckage. Some people also point to the SB (I'm normally one of those people) but truthfully that team was very inconsistent and posted a 9-7 record that year while having the league's easiest schedule. We caught fire at the right time and were playing hotter than anyone in football but the team and the way it was coached was inconsistent all year. And we didn't win the SB. We lost, because of Warner's INT and breakdowns on D. Inconsistent. You can somewhat afford to be that way when you have a Warner, but with no talent at QB your chance of winning those inconsistent games and getting to the playoffs is zero.

I don't pretend to know what they were talking to Horton about. For all I know they were asking him about the fight on the sidelines during the game Sunday. I've no clue.

Whis did a public circumcision of Lindley and in doing so, he emasculated the rest of the team.

He picked DA over Matty and yoiu cursed me for calling him Whisenstupid. Started THT over Edge and Beanie- Faneca and traded wells- sifned porter and Mcfad- Killed Deuce!

We never signed a single drafted Card long term for whiz's first 5 years! We pissed on the SB/playoff players! He made his bed now lie in that stinky sucker- He has not one notable HC Skillset- not one - and when He signed the new contract with new powers- We got alot worse for a decade after he is gone.

Its not on the Bidwill's Whiz pulled a buddy Ryan-We fans have lived this before- at least the oldschool 20000 or so.
Scrath that Even Buddy played the best player.

They're going to look at film.
They're going to look at film today.
They're going to look at film today and try and figure out what went wrong.

The directors of this offense(whiz, miller) had no clue what adjustments to make during the game to give us a shot. It doesn't do us any good if our HC needs 'the next day' to figure things out. I imagine just about every other coach in the league is looking forward, looking at tape of next weeks opponent. Our staff is still scratching their head which is apparently located in the backside of their tan Dockers.

The entire football world thinks Whis messed up by not replacing Ryan Lindley. It's not second-guessing because it was obvious that Ryan was totally ineffective. Whis can try to shift some of the blame to the receivers and that is true to an extent especially with Michael Floyd, but Lindley could have been throwing to Jerry Rice and Lynn Swann in their prime and not done any better IMO.

I'm ready to move on now, but Whis cost the Cardinals a win yesterday and he has to know that.
agreed. Afterall, he IS throwing to Fitzgerald in his prime

I heard on sports radio that when the Giants lost a RB to injury, they signed 2 within 24 hours (one living in his home in Chandler). When we lost TWO running backs, we got one. And then never played him, OR the 4th string we already had

Finally got to listen to the presser on the way home from work yesterday. Props to Bob McManaman (I think that's who it was) for going after Whis a little bit and expressing some of the frustration and bewilderment that the fan base feels.

What am I missing here?

Normally I don't care but....I called out the press for not asking tough questions. Then you got on my case and told me that wasn't their job. Turns out you hadn't even heard the presser and now you're giving props to someone for going after Whiz.

:bang:

Okey dokey then.

Looking for honest answers to the following:

Why did you leave Lindley in when we still could have won it?

Did you truly believe that Lindley gave us a better chance of winning than Skelton?

Who was the driving force in the FO for drafting Leinart, signing D Anderson or signing Kolb?

Who in the FO talked everyone else into believing that our OL was good to go?

How are most personnel decisions arrived at - by division of labor/assignment of responsibility? Or by consensus? Do you feel we should continue to go down that path or should the process be changed?

None of those questions directly attack the interviewee (though the fact that they need to be asked and answered figure to make anyone squirm). So be it. The issues need to be opened up like a can opener to let all the toxins out.

Do you have a realtor yet?

What's it like to get $5,000,000 even if you're fired?

He wouldn't answer that but come on, who cares, he's made his decisions, they're roosting now, it's just a countdown to trigger time this year or next IMO.

If he wants to stay he'd have to swallow all kinds of dictates from upper managment, he probably won't that's just my take of it.
