It's not going to be easy to do. The game I'm actually the most worried about is the Cleveland game. They are tough and pulled out another win on the road today. We can't take them for granted.

That one and the game at Seattle, of course.

We do control our own destiny. We need no help from anybody.

I am thrilled that we are in a position where our games still have meaning as we head into Thanksgiving.

I am still not making any playoff plans just yet.

Don't get me wrong. I am THRILLED to death with this win today. I would rather win in any fashion as opposed to be talking about how good we looked and SHOULD have won.

We still need to improve in some areas. To play the type of football that Whiz wants to play, we need to be able to run the ball in the 4th quarter. We could have salted this game with 3 minutes left to play with 1 first down.
And the penalties need to diminish. We had 3 penaties in the first 6 plays of the game. We just can't do that as we head down the stretch.

All that aside, KUDOS to the defense and the gutsy performance on the road.

I don't see how it's so hard to understand that both teams control their own destiny because they play each other. If the Cards win all their games, they win the division. If Seattle wins all their games, they win the divison. It's only possible for one team to do that, so the Cards game at Seattle is huge for both teams.

I said I thought it was over.

there has only been one team since 2000 that has made the playoffs after starting 3-5. I didn't think that the Cards would be able to close out enough games, to be that 1%.

I was really hoping that Chicago would pull out a win against the Hags yesterday.

I am thrilled we have rebounded and are in the thick of things. Previous years and that Tampa Bay game would have triggered a total colapse.

That said, I believe the winner of our game in Seattle takes the division. I also believe it will take a better and more disciplined effort than we have shown the past two weeks to win that game.

All is good though as I will be watching meaningful football games after Thanksgiving.

From the thread referred to above:
Shane H said:
They could just as easily go 5-3 with the reamining schedule and be 8-8 and possibly win this weak divison. Is it likely? NO! But its possible. thus the season isnt over.
I'm here to say that I think you were overly pessimistic. I still see this team going at least 10-6. The Cardinals are monsters at home. We all know the reason for the anomoly in the Carolina game, but this team will roll through the four remaining home games, and I see them winning in New Orleans as well. Seattle is iffy, but they're not exactly playing lights out at home this year.

Looking way too far ahead: we win the first playoff game which means we travel to either Green Bay or Dallas. Hmmm, need to check travel plans the morning of the 30th to visit the previous night's loser in mid-January.

Go ahead. Tell me I'm an idiot. Heck buy me a rubber stamp, and I'll stamp it on my forehead. This Kool-aid tastes better than the batch from '98.

i will own up......damn glad i was wrong

It is to early to eat crow or buy your playoff tickets. We have 6 big games left and anything can happen. One big hit on Warner and the season is over. I am enjoying this as much as anyone but am careful not to go crazy to soon as I have been watching this team many decades. It is nice to look forward to Sunday where a game has some meaning.

Can't argue about that.

I'm finally at a stage where I feel pretty comfortable about what we can expect each week in 2 areas:

1. A physical, "take no prisoners", playmaking defense.

2. Lots of penalties.

Everything else is still up and down and we can't be sure whether our offense will be streaky-hot or sputtering or whether our special teams will block a kick or have one of our own blocked

If we could somehow chop our number of penalties in half and execute better more consistently on offense and special teams, I'd be willing to go out on a limb and predict a playoff berth.

But right now, all I could concede is that we have a legitimate shot if a whole bunch of unpredictable things break in our favor.

It is not to early to eat your crow. The bottom line is that after the Tampa game you were all saying the season is over. It clearly isnt. So have your dish all of you! From this point it is not over. The remaining 6 games have no bearing.

Oooohhhhh, I get it. You guys weren't talking about "reality," you guys were talking about "technically."

Okay.

Nice sarcasm there. Right now, today WE control our destiny. Will that be true this time next week, who knows. For sure you don't and neither do I.

Reality is we are in control, if we win the games we win the division, the same is true of Seattle right now.
