Yeah, Kliff is a problem.

What I don’t get is people not recognizing trends. We are getting worse. People complaining about that? Shocking. What? It’s a three pattern? People complaining about that? Shocking.

As Britcard stated, starting hot is great, but it’s not how you start in sports it’s how you finish. We aren’t finishing very well. Again.
Again, I never said that criticism isn't warranted at that point. And if this was our last regular season game I would probably panic. My view is that I fully expected us to have a phase like that during the season and we still have a whole month until the first playoff game to get back on track. What I basically wanted to say is that thanks to our wins at the beginning of the season, we don't really have to worry about making the playoffs and it gives us enough time to get ready.

That’s a reasonable perspective. I hope kliff/kyler can reverse their three year trend during that month. Not optimistic.

That’s a weird point. Most teams lose when their quarterbacks play poorly.

I think you’re saying that Kyler doesn’t have a lot of games where his passer rating is, like, 86. I agree he’s a pretty high-variance quarterback because he tries to make plays out of structure when the home run isn’t there.

There was one play today when Ertz was completely uncovered off the line. He was clapping for the ball and Murray ignored him, ran around, and completed a pass to AJ Green or someone for 20 yards. Kyler has to learn how to take the layup or he’s going to be a coach killer.
There was also another play on like 3 & 4 where someone was running a crossing pattern (can't remember who now) & Kyler was looking right at him, instead of passing the ball to him he stood there & took the sack inside the pocket. Guy was wide open.

Tannehill kinda sucks. Cousins might do well in this offense, but he’d be a big mistake killer the same as Kyler.

I mean, he’s got a ton of talent in Minnesota and that team consistently finds ways to lose at the end of games that he can’t finish.

I like Tannehill. He's having a rough go of it this year, but the past two seasons he's been sixth and fifth in DVOA. It's funny; right now we're in a weird state of the NFL where we have a bunch of young unknowns but no real equivalent to, like Bengals-era Andy Dalton. Taylor Heinike has a 0.0% DVOA right now, which feels fraudulent.

Wow. Okay. I don’t think so. I think he gets splattered a few times and likely doesn’t finish the season.

I think Kyler--like many mobile QBs--often makes the offensive line look worse than it is. He gets creamed because he's still scampering around even after taking the shotgun snap. More traditional QBs are going to have more secure pockets because their offensive linemen can anticipate where they're going to be at the bottom of their drop.

No way. He’s got just as much talent if not more than Kyler has had all season and that offense will still crater when they really need it more often than not.

hed also crush our cap and keep us from spending wildly on an aging DL who can’t possibly stay healthy.
Maybe Cousins was a bad example because of the psychological baggage and because his teammates seem to hate him. I think if we had Jimmy Garappolo or Matt Ryan or Derek Carr or Teddy Bridgewater we'd be very similar in the standings to where we are now, we'd just have different problems.

But I think the problems would be easier to identify and fix because Kyler introduces so many unique variables into the mix. If we get rid of Kliff (which I don't think we'll do until after next season, TBH), it'll be real interesting to see how a new coach that isn't all-in on him works.

I’ll just have to disagree with regards to where we would be. I think for every 2-3 “layups” that kyler misses he makes a dynamic play that the others cannot. So while we might have more 5-7 play drives with those other guys, we would score less. I don’t believe the trade off in time of possession would weigh in our favor.

This

He creates some of his problems by not moving up in the pocket

With Cousins, we win yesterday... likely, going away...
Try again. Cousins JUST lead the Vikings in giving the Lions their first win last week. And he had a full compliment of all his loaded with talent offense.

Kyler’s regression since the 7-0 start is real but the sudden man love for Cousins 7 year long choke job career is stupid.

Kirk didn't have his running back in that game. He was 30-40 for 340 yards and 2 TDs.

I just slot Cousins in as a league-average QB. It was obviously a poor choice.

Oh, don't get me wrong... I am not a fan of Cousins. I just think he's style of play would've led our offense to a relatively easily win yesterday.

Detroit gave up about 200 yards on the ground to Denver in a blowout loss just a week ago. The week before 340 yards to Cousins over 90 to Mattison the RB.

And we got shut out in the first half!

Cousins, based on his QB stats... Is a world beater, But if you throw W-L into the mix..He's one of the most overpaid QB's in the league.

Have never been impressed by KK. Currently he appears to be regressing to the mean as, earlier in the season, this club seemed to be passing every test. Of course, like many others I got completely sucked in to thinking “maybe this year is different.” Now, I’m seeing the team as having wasted a season in which it finally beat the Rams and also swept the Niners. 11-6 and an embarrassing home loss in Round One of the postseason is absolutely in the future. So is another year with KK and his inability to rise to the job at hand. What a sad waste. Sigh.

This is KK's 3rd year as an NFL coach let alone head coach. He's going to have some growing pains. IMO he's progressed each year & has gotten better. He's learning on the job. He was the leader for COY earlier in the season. If he wins out he'll probably be in contention again. People need to relax. There's still 3 games left in the season & plenty of football left to be played.

Do you realistically believe we can win out after getting smoked by the 1-11 Lions?

That's some strong koolaid you are drinking

It was a happy day for me when Minnesota bought that fools gold when he was done breaking hearts in DC. A lot of people here really wanted him.
