I would first try and persuade Kurt to come back one more year. Second, I would trade Boldin for draft picks. Third, I would shore up the defense thru free agency and the draft. I would go heavy defense the first three rounds. As for changing defensive coordinators, that is a tough one. I have full faith in Whiz and I would let him make that decision.

Finally, I totally forgot about Cody Brown. He was having a great camp for the Cardinals until he got hurt. He will definitely help the defense next year if healthy.

These are the threads I LOVE! LoL Here we go:

1. Re-sign Rolle. Rashad Johnson was supposed to be his replacement but he can't even get of the field. Abdullah was signed 4 weeks ago and see's playing time above Johnson. Plus Antrelle is better than ANY draft pick or FA so he stays and solidifies that position for years to come.

2. See what Dansby want's but so far he said he test free agency so in my scenerio he walks and we use the money we lost on him for a free agent like Derrick Johnson. For the last couple years Derrick Johnson has been really good but slipped up bad this year. Could be a good FA signing and would partially fill the whole left by losing Dansby.

3. Sign a corner like a Phillip Buchannon (CB-Det) or Fabian Washington (CB-Bal). Both are lightning quick and adds a LOT of depth to the CB slot. DRC at 1, a fight for 2-4 between McFadden, Toler, Buchannon/Washington. THAT is depth at CB.

4. Draft defense HEAVY in draft and not for just next year. If Warner does play next year then we got 1 year left before the whole offense changes and it doesn't matter what QB takes over. The only reason we run the offense we run is cause we have one of the best QB's in the history of the game in Warner. When he's gone we will become a run first team that opens up the pass but for that to happen and not lose any steps in a postseason run then we need a STACKED defense. So thats what I build this year and get this defense ready for when Kurt does retire.

EDIT: 5. RESIGN COACH WHIZ TO A LIFETIME DEAL!!

Why do we always have problems at CB?

These would be decent moves.

Other needs:

1. Pass rushing DL.

2. Linebackers who can tackle and play the pass.

3. D coach who'll play new guys like Toler when necessary.

I would have added new D coach....won't complain if he's replaced and won't bitch if he stays.

I won't comment on free agents because I don't know who they are yet...

As far as players lost...
Okeafer
Adams
Berry
Gandy
Urban
Dansby
B Robinson

Trade...
Boldin to Ravens. 2nd & 5th rounder. (since consensus feels like we can't get a 1st.)

Draft...(it is real early to start projecting where people will fall so go easy)
1-Eric Norwood/Brandon Spikes/Jerry Hughes/Brandon Graham
2a-Brandon Lang/Javier Arenas/George Selvie
2b-Sean Canfield
3-Jermaine Cunningham/???

That's my attitude. I have so much faith in Whiz that he will put the best person back there to coach.

And what kicker would you get? Before the groin pull Rackers was amazing this year. He even reagrivated it during the Saints game so it was never 100% coming back. He's been great this year.

1 completely agree, Rolle got a lot better and Rashad hasn't shown anything yet.

2 While I agree that Dansby is probably pricing himself out, and I love Derrick Johnson, he's NOT a 3-4 LB. That's why he had a bad year, the Chiefs went 3-4. I'm not convinced the Cards should be 3-4 either but as long as we are signing Johnson wouldn't make sense. If we go 4-3 it would make sense.

3 Every year some team signs a veteran FA at CB or S and gets a huge pickup. This year it was NO, the problem is EVERY team in the NFL tries to do that and only a few get it right, older DB's are really hard to judge. Some guys lose a half a step and they're done, others get smarter.

agree with 4 and 5.

See I think the same way you do too. The reason I said Buchannon or Washington is both are still young. Washington is 25 and Buchannon is 27. I don't want an old DB either. To scary of a pick up.

Agreed but there are reasons both of them will be available. Washington is like DRC very slight, I don't think you can have 2 CB's on the field who won't tackle. and he's not nearly as good as DRC.

Buchanon is just a headcase, you hear he's settled down but when he was a Raider he was one of those guys who for every spectacular play he made(and there several)he'd give up 2 TD's. He's very inconsistent.

Generally speaking I think other than pass rush what this team really needs is defenders who trust the system and stay where they're supposed to be. So often we're out of position, we have very few guys who play with discipline

My probly unpopular opinion

1. Talk Warner into retireing...I think its time for him to spend time with his family and not scare Brenda for another season. And as for the franchise itself its time to see what Leinart has and see if hes worth the money they're paying him

2. Sign a proven 3-4 NT..Watson is a serviceable NT and all but we need more depth and Bryan Robinson is more of a 4-3 DT or a 3-4 DE

3. Probly more important sign some depth for the middle linebacker postions. With Hayes being out it was very noticeable on run defense. I am not a fan of Beisel if i spelled his name right? And draft a insider backer in the 2nd round.

4.Sign a left tackle...Bridges is serviceable but we could use an upgrade there. Or draft one in the 1st round or something.

5.Get a better secondary coach if possible. and MAYBE promote Steelers Linebacker coach Butler to DC and have Davis as co DC and Linebackers coach.

6.Suggs was franchise tagged this year right? Well I would defently take a run at him because we need a proven pass rusher.

7.Trade Boldin and a 2nd rounder to move up into the 1st round and get Ronaldo McClain from Bama if he falls to the middle of the 1st round.

If were going to sign a OLB the only one who still has upside is Merriman because Larry English was drafted to take his spot and WILL do it. Merriman will be up for grabs this year.

EDIT: If we lose Dansby, whatever he is making for his new team is what we get to spend on a FA. Could it be Merriman?

If the Raiders are stupid enough to let him walk or if he just doesn't want to play for the Raiders, what about Kirk Morrison. That dude is awesome at MLB and a tackling machine.

He's small but yeah I like him a lot. One thing he can do that none of our LB's did consistently well is cover. The Raiders think he's too small though they think many of his tackles are 5-6 yards downfield.

But how would he do here? I NEVER watch Raider games but when the are on he always seems like if he had just a LITTLE bit of help, he would be amazing. One thing for sure, he is ALWAYS around the play.

Take about two weeks off, and answer this question in a super long post then.

Still dealing with this years team in my brain.

Derrick Johnson and Morrison are restricted free agents.

If there was one position that you could draft and have play right away that position would have to be ILB in a 3-4 defense or OLB in a 4-3 defense. There are none in free agency worth talking about, and the draft will be awesome with LB talent. Its why I dont even worry about in free agency unless something falls in our laps. Doesn't mean I wouldn't try but looking at the UFA list it looks to be a fools errand so I concentrate on other things.

Ryan Pickett a good NT comes to mind. Lots of possible Nickel CB talent that wont be RFA's.

Since free agency will be a huge bust for most teams since there will 212 fewer free agents on the market then last year because of the RFA uncapped rules, plus more because teams have more franchise and transition tags to use and most will considering there wont be money to spend in free agency becuase of far fewer players on the market.

Other then a gem or two here and there I dont expect anything to come out of free agency this year for the Cards and for most other teams. Teams will have to focus on keeping their own players, tendering the massive amounts of RFA's they will have, using franchise tag, trades, and the draft.

Whatever any of you do, please force Whiz and Grimm's hand into moving Levi Brown to right guard. Then go sign a real-life right tackle. See if Willie Colon can be had.

Cut that CHOKING DOG, Rackers. He had better be toast. When the game is on the line, he'll make about 30% of his kicks. We can do better & I really don't give a rat's a$$ if he's great on onside kicks & making tackles. If he's that good a tackler, then convert him to a LB. God knows our current batch of LBers can't tackle!!
