That's fine we will agree to disagree but I'm just saying trade Nash for Rondo straight up and see how much better this team gets. I don't think you will see any improvement.
Oh i agree with you there, with the way this team is constructed,if Rondo were to be plugged into this roster this team would struggle to score 50 points/gm. LOL. Thats the thing though,so many of these players the Suns have plugged in here over the years can't function without being spoonfed by the awesomeness that is Steve Nash....and only Nash can be like Nash. Its no mystery why all of the backup PG's have come in here and struggled....some of them weren't very good sure, but they cant run Nashball and do the things that only Nash can do ya know?
Nash averages 10 assists with the likes of Gortat, Frye and Dudley while Rondo gets his 10 with Garnett, Pierce, and Ray Allen (plus it takes him 37 mins. a game to do it while Nash does it in 30). Nash is a better shooter from anywhere on the court-3 point land, FG% and especially Free Throws, Rondo is horrendous in that area. Rondo is a much better defender and rebounder and he is younger but that's about all I can come up for him in the plus column when comparing him to Steve.
I cant argue with most of that....lets face it,Nash and Rondo are complete opposites in terms of skillsets,attitude,style,etc...but they both distribute the ball very well and are both unselfish with the ball. I happen to value Rondo's defensive skills over Nash's shooting(on a team thats designed to compliment those skills).
Ideally you want to surround Nash with slashers and shooters that don't demand the ball. That's fine and its extremely effective when the shots are falling, but you always wind up with a jump-shooting basketball team and IMO thats not ideal come playoff time. I also dont like when teams easily get into their offense due to Nash's lack of defensive skills.
I just prefer a team thats stout defensively in 2 areas....at the point of attack(your PG or 2guard) and at the rim obviously(PF or center). You can fill in the gaps from there with shooters. A team with Rondo at the point must have a very strong post up guy though, which isn't an easy thing to find.
JMO as always....and as always it revolves around a change in basketball culture here
