Must be a reason why Milroe was invited. Seems every Draft has a QB sitting in the Green Room and showing his disappointment in not being selected. I know you have a VG take on Ohio State players, but so does our OL coach. So, if we pick Simmons I'll feel good about the pick.

A gamble no matter what after that injury. No way to be certain. I wouldn’t take him with our first pick.
Read a couple articles that say that even though full recovery can take 6 to 12 months just over 80% of athletes return to their prior form completely.
So it's a gamble but not a huge one. Your basically gambling on the players work ethic. Because that seems to be the deciding factor in full recovery. The new oline coach should have a good feel for that.
With us having 3 RT's ahead of him...I would just start him on IR designated, leave him there until November first, then work him in slowly. We technically shouldn't "need" him this season unless things go horribly bad.....

So we can afford to have our first round pick not contributing this year? Not something I would do at the 16th pick.

Can afford - Yes.

Should afford - No.

But what I like is that we are not forced to do it and counting on a rookie to be ready on day 1.

I think the obvious choices are Edge, DT and OL at #16. An Edge would jump right in a package. A DT would jump into a rotation. For both cases, it could be in the 1st string and be okay if it's only 2nd string.

If an OT, It allows him to start at G and then sliding out to OT next season.

Not saying you're wrong, but it will depend on what the doctors say. And with all the FB injuries in the NFL, you are definitely right about the CERTAIN part.

I'm beginning to think that they will go edge rusher with their pick and go for an OL on Day 2. Their 30 player visits were filled with edger rushers. Of course that doesn't mean anything but there will be some good ERs at 16. Just a hunch.

This is exactly where I am, the possibility of not contributing combined with the injury risk when we can get a contributor in the front 7 with our pick doesn’t make sense to me.
