Must have been well coached.Must not read Mel Kiper, “Kiper continued. “Josh Simmons, as a left tackle, was well on his way this year to becoming maybe the third, fourth, fifth pick in the draft. But he didn’t finish out the year,” Kiper added. “He had cleaned up all the issues with penalties. He had developed into an elite left tackle. Probably ahead of Will Campbell had he been healthy, but he’s not, and when’s he going to be ready?”

Nope. What would mean no pro bowls and 5th year option stays at the base. Easy pick-up with the salary range of OLWe've gone over this in this thread (I think): you're not exercising the fifth year option for a guard unless he's top 3 at his position and All-Pro.
If Booker turns out to be DJ Humphries quality (a solid starter but unlikely to be among the top 10 at his position), you probably decline the fifth-year option and have to franchise (I don't recall off the top of my head if that's even possible).
I have heard that from basicly everyone that he would be #1 and a top 5 pick if not for the injuryI disagree with that sentiment. I haven't read anywhere that he was playing at the level of Campbell or Membou.
Like I said…that is a completely speculative assessment of where his eval may have been in the event he did not get injured. He played 6 games.Must not read Mel Kiper, “Kiper continued. “Josh Simmons, as a left tackle, was well on his way this year to becoming maybe the third, fourth, fifth pick in the draft. lol…the full quote is that if he would have continued to progress at the rate he improved from 2024 to 2024, he might have been a top prospect. He has never played like a top 5 tackle in college. And his improvement over the 1st 6 games had 5 games where OSU won by 35+ pts. His improvement was not against good competition.I have heard that from basicly everyone that he would be #1 and a top 5 pick if not for the injury
I mean…neither would likely play in 2025 unless Jonah isn’t back. Simmons is recovering from a major leg injury and might not be able to start the season. Banks was projected at OG for some.this feels like an overreaction
So you haven’t heard anyone saying it, yet you know the story. Interesting.lol…the full quote is that if he would have continued to progress at the rate he improved from 2024 to 2024, he might have been a top prospect. nah banks jr is legitLove all 5. Other 4 more than Banks.
His tape against Akron, Western Michigan, Marshall, and Michigan State. Only one nfl level player in that group and Green didn’t matchup with Simmons much. It’s a projection of a projection. DJ has him 37 in his final 150. If Simmons was that good, he wouldn’t be so low.So you haven’t heard anyone saying it, yet you know the story. Interesting.
But no. That is not correct. A lot of people are saying that his tape from the first 4,5 games before he was injured would have made him the #1.
Heard it from Danial Jerimiah, Dane Bugler and Steve Parazolla.
im with you on SimmonsI mean…neither would likely play in 2025 unless Jonah isn’t back. Simmons is recovering from a major leg injury and might not be able to start the season. Banks was projected at OG for some.
Punting 1st round picks who are already low ish upside players when your defense is awful and old, and you are chasing your first winning record in year 3 seems like a poor plan.
Monti has done very little to earn any benefit of doubt so far.
4 holding calls and 3 false starts in 2024. Every start has been at LT. Drafting a guy just to move him to a position he has never played high level football at. Miss me with this.im with you on Simmons
but Banks is a very well regarded tackle prospect - and has been from the beginning of the season (meaning -- a large sample size). no issue with him at #16
Right? It’s such a disconnect. How can people believe this and at the same time have faith in Monti?
Yet, he stated that he would have been a top 5 if not for the injury. His tape against Akron, Western Michigan, Marshall, and Michigan State. Only one nfl level player in that group and Green didn’t matchup with Simmons much. It’s a projection of a projection. DJ has him 37 in his final 150. If Simmons was that good, he wouldn’t be so low.
You aren’t listening. They said if he didn’t get injured he may have been a top tackle if he continued to improve. How does missing 6 games drop a player 30 draft spots if his game tape was great? Either he wasn’t that good based on the actual film or the injury comes with tremendous risk. Neither of those are good.Yet, he stated that he would have been a top 5 if not for the injury.
Dude, the discussion is that you said no one had him high without the injury.
Plenty of expert said that. I gave you names. So your statement is false.
You can have all your own opinions on Simmons. That doesn’t change the fact that plenty of experts are saying it and your statement is wrong.
Nope. Listen to Dane Bugler’s OL break down or the cross over between Bugler and DJ.You aren’t listening. They said if he didn’t get injured he may have been a top tackle if he continued to improve. How does missing 6 games drop a player 30 draft spots if his game tape was great? Either he wasn’t that good based on the actual film or the injury comes with tremendous risk. From what I've read he has all the tools to be great. The Cardinals have the luxury of redshirting him for a year.We are in a great place when it comes to evaluating Simmons. So, to me, it makes little sense for fans to argue about him. Assuming he's available when we pick, we can be pretty sure we will have done our due diligence on a yes or no vote.
