I am most excited about the FB Hodgins.

After many years of centers and macovicka, I am very happy to have a big bad LB stuffing FB...

Darling

I think James Darling will be a pleasant surprise.

Most pubs I've read mention the Jets not worrying about LBer injury....they said Darling could and maybe should start.

He was a high draft choice and has excelled not only on special teams but when he was given a chance to start.....a 250 pound linebacker who can play outside or in is for sure a plus for our team.

Without question my most favorite Free Agent acquisition of the off-season to date is Jeff Blake.

The addition of Blake and the subtraction of Plummer will have a very positive impact on the results the CARDS turn in this upcoming season.

I'll go with that too. A QB impacts the offense in so many ways he can't help but be our biggest impact signing.

The biggest loss(es) were Martay Jenkins and Frank Sanders. If Frankie does end up leaving us, he'll leave a leadership vacuum and toughness vacuum at a position of great need. If Rod Graves made an error this spring, IMO it was by not offering Jenkins real #2 WR money.

I disagree with you on three points:

Hodgins is an above average FB. He is a bulldozer. Ask Marshall Faulk.

Darling would start on many NFL teams and he is a special teams stud...like all LB's should be.

You want to move Davis to LT? At what expense? Shelton? I don't think so. LJ had his best season as a pro last year and has proved that he can stay healthy. The goal should be to put the best players out there so the line as a unit can be the best they can be wheather they are playing "out of position" or not.

I disagree with you on 2 points, Darling would not start for most teams if any. But is a good special teamer and provides depth.

secondly, L Davis should play LT. You do not take a Tackle with the 2nd overall selection and play him at RG. He needs to be at his natural position LeftTackle.

I don't disagree with the fact that Leonard would be a better player at LT. He is no slouch at RG though. I just don't think we should sacrifice LJ to put Davis at LT. The wild card is if LJ can play Guard efficiently, then go ahead and make the switch. If he can't, you have to field the best possible line out there.

In my opinion, LJ had a great season last year and he was playing through a painful ankle injury. Let's hope that he can play Guard and extend his contract to keep this line intact.

Actually that is not correct

Emmitt Smith likes to run between the tackles. This is why Larry Allen was moved to guard from tackle originally. It was to give Emmitt a dominant blocker to run behind.

Davis is our Larry Allen, so their are potential negatives in the fact that you would be potentially hurting your running game.

Outruns his fullback blocks? How does that work? Are there some teams with fullbacks who are so fast they can block a linebacker and still keep up with their tailback down field? On between the tackle plays if he outran his fullbacks block wouldn't he just run into a LB? Unless the hole were so large he's in open field before he gets to the LB? If the hole is that big wouldn't the O-line and/or the stupidity of the LB be the cause and not the RB's speed?

Just curious.

He can play either, and is more valuable at right guard. His size makes him better inside than out. Outside he tends to struggle against speed rush.

First off you have no idea if Davis can play LT in the NFL.

And saying you get 75% out of a player at RG is stupid. The only difference between a guard and a tackle is that the guards were not quit as good an athlete so playing guard is easier for them. That does not mean BIG plays at a lesser level at that position, if anything that would mean he would play at an even higher level!

If hodgins had nothing to do with Faulks yards then why do Faulks numbers dramatically drop the games that Hodgins was hurt?

Does anyone know what Leonard Davis thinks about this?

If we have Clement & Shelton locked up in long term deals, what happens when Davis becomes a FA? If he really wants to play LT, what happens then?

That's four years away. Dang near an eternity in the NFL. The last thing they need to be worrying about is if Davis will have hurt feelings then.

Probably depends on

How many Pro Bowls Leonard goes to before his 4 years are up. A playoff appearance would help as well.

Jeff Blake

For some reason or another, Jeff Blake has never gotten the respect he deserves. Blake is not only good enough to be a starter in the NFL, but a good one at that.

Emmitt Smith has played for a crappy OL in Dallas the last two years and has had no quality starter at QB. At Arizona he will have a good line and a veteran QB more than capable of leading the Cards.

Emmitt Smith.

Has something to show the world..He is not finished. Will lend excitment to our team. Everyone will focus on him, should open up other opertunities. He will make Blake better and visa versa.I look foward to meeting him in camp..

My free agent sofas sucked. I finally got rid of the one held up by the yellow pages in February.

Jeff Blake

I wanted the Cardinals to pick him up all last year.

And as far as the Running back out-running the Fullbacks blocks for the most part they are talking about a sweep or counter play where the Fullback is out in front going around the corner and the tailback needs to follow his blocker not out run him.

Blake has to be...

...because if he can't lead the team well enough to bring the overall offense up a notch above Plummer-level, great help in key areas won't matter. If all you can do is run, defenses will find a way to shut down even the best O-line-RB-FB combination.

I think Blake has the biggest chip on his shoulder of any of the signings and will bring the level up.
