It's very unlikely that the Thunder repeat with Durant the same mistake they made with Harden. Also, if the cap goes way up next year, won't the luxury tax threshold go way up too?

That Harden move just looks dumber and dumber. They would have been a couple mil over the tax for like one season. And that the real tax avoiding choice they made came down keeping Kendrick Perkins over resigning Harden. If they'd amnestied Perkins they'd have been well clear of the tax, instead they kept him in the roster, played him heavy minutes... and were essentially playing 4 on 5 whenever his corpse was on the court.

Because he is a better player.

As a small forward Ingram is the better player, don't care what you say.

Simmons has played a soft schedule so far and impressive rebounding numbers do not necessarily translate to the NBA.
Simmons value is all about being that multi-skilled Power Forward.

You can't have a small forward that does not have a good outside shot. Ingram already has that. Shooting is the most important skill in the NBA.

Ingram/Randle fits well, Simmons/Randle does not fit at all.

I think it will be very close between Simmons and Ingram come draft day.

Ingram is on a tear. He made 25 of his last 50 3 point attempts after starting the season 6-25 from 3. Also Ingram is a year younger than Simmons.

Plus Ingram is on a better team and will have a chance to shine in the NCAA tournament.

Ingram hasn't exactly played a murder's row either. Of the best 4 teams they've played (Georgetown, Kentucky, Utah and Indiana) he struggled big time in 4 of those.

I'd love to get either of those guys but regardless of who you have on your roster Simmons should be the #1 pick.

I thought it was a little embarrassing when we went after Lebron but I could see some value in just reminding the free agent world that we exist. But a pursuit of Durant would be embarrassing. He loves playing with Westbrook and has been treated very well in OKC. He might leave but short of blackmail I can't see us entering the picture.

IMO>>>There's a small chance he'll stay in OKC. There's a reasonable chance that he'll go to one of the major eastern markets (including Miami). There's an outside chance he'll return home to Washington. There's even a pretty fair chance he and Westbrook will leave Oklahoma to play for the Hollywood crowd. But I can't see anything that would draw him to Phoenix.

If Durant for some reason wants to come to Arizona I'm sure his agent will let us know. And if not, I really hope we don't waste even a moment pursuing the possibility.

Totally disagree, don't see how its embarrassing trying to make a splash in FA to make your team a contender. PHX did have a plan and LeBron was listening and probably gave it some thought (Bledsoe is his little buddy) but he left his heart in CLE. We were finalists for Aldridge but SA was more of a contender and after years of playoff disappointment in POR he decided to go home like LeBron.

I know its a different sport but no one expected Greinke to land in ARZ but never underestimate a strong pitch and a blank check. No one but KD knows what he's going to do and even he probably doesn't know at this point.

Not saying it's going to happen but there is always a chance, not harm, shame or embarrassment in trying.

I thought the attempt at landing Aldridge was well conceived. But these pursuits take time and you get hung up in the process for awhile while more accessible FA's sign elsewhere. I think it's an embarrassment to go after someone that IMO there is almost zero chance to sign because it gives the impression that we don't know what we're doing.

We aren't a Durant away from winning it all, we have a few more rungs to climb on the rebuild ladder before someone like him can take us to the top. And he knows it too. If he leaves OKC it will probably be with the goal of immediately challenging for the championship. And like I said, if for some unknown reason he has a real interest in Phoenix, I'm sure his agent will let us know.
