Let me say that I absolutely loathe the Cowboys. When it comes to teams I hate, the list always begins with the Cowboys. However, I'm beginning to think this kid is being railroaded.

Ezekiel Elliott's suspension and appeal, explained
Here’s everything you need to know about what led to Elliott’s suspension and what comes next.
https://www.sbnation.com/2017/8/18/...ension-appeal-explained-nfl-domestic-violence

She basically got a second chance to shore up her story after the July 22nd story was found out to be a lie. The NFL setting the bar so low that they are suspending when a prosecutor wont charge a misdemeanor is basically tell the players that they can be suspended on someone else's word and have no due process.

The prosecutor basically said he thought he was guilty but didn't have enough to convict which is extremely difficult.

The league is in a real bind here. When polled as to why some people stopped watching NFL games last season, the #1 reason was the Kaeprrnick situation but the #2 situation was the apparent rise in domestic violence and the way the league handled the Ray Rice situation(not to mention the crooked political prosecutor in the case) was appalling to some people. Truth be told, DV issues isn't anything new and has been prevalent in the league for decades. There was a player for the Eagles in the 70's named Blenda Gay who's wife murdered him because of constant abuse(it was said at the time that he would beat his wife whenever the Eagles lost and considering those were the days of the 4 win Eagles...) so when an accusation of abuse comes, the league is in between a rock and a hard place.

From the story that was linked to SB Nation I don't see the NFL really cares. The prosecutor clearly said he thinks Elliott DID in fact do something but there's not enough evidence to bring a legal case against him. THe NFL doesn't have the same burden of proof, and frankly shouldn't, they're a business.

It'll get appealed and reduced IMO, I'm sure the truth is somewhere in the middle of both their stories.

I feel the exact same way. Not only do I also hate the Cowboys, but I have disliked Elliott even before he was drafted. That being said, this just doesn't feel right to me. Of course the prosecutor says he thinks something happened. That's how they are wired. But the evidence obviously wasn't there. I really can't stand the inconsistency in which Goodell lays down these punishments. If he has proof that Elliot or any other player abused a woman, I am all for giving them what they deserve.

I feel like this suspension is only for public perception. Lets try to trick the fans in thinking that we care by handing out a huge suspension to a star. The pain inflicted on these abused women doesn't hurt any more or less coming from a star player. The perception that the NFL didn't care enough about domestic violence was around way before Zeke.

I see it completely different. I believe the NFL see it as "something happened", and he shouldn't have been there. This is their business and anything that sheds a poor light on their business...well they have a right to take action. Elliott has on more than one occasion punched the NFL in the face, and they're saying we're not going to take it. The alleged offense is insignificant.

There was much more evidence against NY Giants kicker Dave Brown. Why did he only get one game? Something definitely happened there. If you are saying that this punishment is based only on making the league look bad, there are many others that have made league look bad that haven't been given a six game suspension.

Bingo, the NFL can't make up for past mistakes. They can only get better by learning from them. I've seen fist fights at my place of employment, that resulted in those two being send home only to return the next day. Now if that happens their done, both of them.

Well Jerry Jones is a dirt bag hoffer- I mean setting telling sports reporters about character of his team while 10% are suspended every freaking year. He don't care about character or the NFL shield - NFL writers don't care either - reward dirt bags and players working for their network, while quiet guys that earn hoffer respect set and waste. bunch of inbreeding and politicizing instead of moral clarity.

I still stand by my opinion that the NFL has gone too far with this, and frankly probably did so intentionally to see how far they can go in controlling the players to protect the shield. Unless there is some other evidence out there that apparently didn't matter to law enforcement, I expect to see Zeke playing our home opener.

I agree for the most part here, but why do you seem to ALWAYS side with the guy accused of beating a woman ?

I could see how it would appear that way, but I became very skeptical after being involved with DV court in Eloy. My old boss had the defense contract there, and it was incredibly sad how dysfunctional almost every situation was. I have seen victims - both male and female - get railroaded because the aggressor was smarter than they were. Things like that.

I mean, we are talking about two specific cases here mostly, this and Dwash. I had and still have zero sympathy for Ray Rice. Over time my sympathy for Dwash has gone away too.

My main issue here actually is less with the victim (because Zeke is at minimum dysfunctional to some extent for keeping around someone who threatened to ruin his life) and more with the fact that the NFL seems to think it knows better than police and prosecutors. It is incredibly easy to prosecute misdemeanor DV case. Prosecution almost always wins, because they are generally non-jury trials and judges don't want to be the person to let someone off the hook that is a batterer.

MarkMaske @MarkMaske

Ezekiel Elliott appeal hearing is to continue Wednesday. Final briefs due Friday. Unlikely there would be a ruling before next week.
