And at least UA played well in their losses, right now it looks like UCLA is going to get run by Memphis although to be fair it's hard to win when a team is hitting 3's like that.

Memphis really looks legit, Shawne Williams is really good if the refs will let them they may very well knock off Duke in the final.

UCLA is nowhere near full strength but Memphis got nothing from Washington and Carney and still have a 17 point lead so it's hard to use injuries as an excuse, just Memphis is much better than UCLA at the moment.

Nice to see some life out of Fey and Hollins though. Again UCLA fans keep raving about Moute but so far all he does is rebound, I guess he'll have to grow on me. For me the best part of this year is Bozeman's comeback great to see the kid stick it out through injuries and have a nice senior year.

Oh well at least UCLA sacked up and played hard the whole 2nd half and made a game of it. Think howland should have been trapping the last 2 minutes and needed to get Moute off the floor for Roll and some more shooting, but I'm so happy to be rid of Lavin and the days when UCLA got behind and quit.

The Pac's performance so far has been nothing short of awful. I'd get into more detail but there's really nothing more to say.

Unranked Houston never trailed in their 69-65 upset of Arizona tonight.

Great ending.

It's a 3 point game and Arizona fouls Lafayette of Houston and he goes to the line for 2 shots. He makes the first, but misses the second - yet he manages to outrebound 4 Wildcats (everyone else was at the other end of the court). He gets fouled again and misses both. With 5 seconds left Arizona's player bounces the ball off his foot and it literally rolls the length of the court as time expires.

Tom Penders in the process of getting Houston back on track.

I love these good pre-conference games between teams with good histories.

If the Cats played as hard the whole game as they did the last five minutes of each half they probably would have won.

Chalk this one up as a learning experience.

The goal is to be on your game for the conference schedule. A couple of early season losses don't hurt much. Unless you are overly concerned with the poll ranking which I am not.

Crap maybe I was wrong when I said at least you guys have Basketball coming up.

At least we knew before the season started that we were gonna have a horrible season.

Nice try Scott.

It is a slow start but the season is just getting started.

I think there is some good basketball to look forward to.

The important thing is how they are playing during the conference schedule and at the end of the year not how they do in November and early December.

I have to try to kick them while they are down. Since they will probably gel and become a good team. So I have one thing to say.

Freakin Houston?!

No kidding. You've got to kick them when they're in LAST place in the division. First team in the Pac to lose 3 games. And we're undefeated and in 2nd place.

We need to enjoy it while it lasts. :D

Go Devils !!

Houston played well on D and they made some sick shots tonight while the Cats were blowing layups.

Lute held out Rogers and Adams to start the game when the Cats went 1-17 from the floor. They still had plenty of chances. Despite being down 24-6 early they only trailed by two and the half 27-29.

I guess you should get your shots in while you can. :)

UofA lost and Jermain Taylor won! Profitable night for me. Everyone who's ever followed Arizona basketball knows they annually blow a road game to a mediocre team right before Christmas. Like I said before, I'll judge this team when they hit conference season.

And ASU fans - please talk now because your team sucks.

Um, the same Houston team that just beat a ranked LSU team on the road? Nobody with any brains in Arizona land is overly concerned with this loss. Some teams take some time to come together (last year's team for example) so waiting until January is probably the best thing. College basketball isn't like college football, it's a marathon not a sprint and how you're playing in February is way more important than how you're playing in December.

I love how when U of A loses in their best sport, Wildcat fans try to play it off like they knew it would happen and the team they lost to is better than people think, etc. I dont think I will live to see the day that U of A fans will admit that they got beat by a bad team, and that maybe they were a little overhyped. At least I can admit that ASU basketball has problems and aren't going to be anything special this year. God I love to see Lute with a losing record, it brings a smile to my face :D . Go Devils.

Excuse me but I don't see a post where any UofA fans stated that we knew this would happen. And Houston is better than people think. They have beaten two ranked teams so far (not that UofA should have lost to them either).

Nevertheless, I shall forgive you since you probably don't know what sport you are babbling about. After all, you cannot possibly watch ASU basketball games for too long without shooting yourself directly in the face. And since posting on a forum from beyond the grave isn't yet possible, it is doubtful you know what this sport encompasses.

Moreover, didn't the ASU football team (your best sport I presume) underachieve this year? Where do you get off at accusing us of making excuses while that is all the ASU fans did all year? But alas, I will not turn this into a football discussion in a basketball thread.

Next time, before you run your mouth about us complaining, do a little thing known as 'reading.' It will help you refrain from giving the misconception that your college is full of illiterates.

U of A is going to have to figure out how to shoot better than 35% from the floor or none of it is going to matter.

I will be the first one to admit that ASU football underachieved this year, BUT we did beat you so I am satisfied. Take a look at the ASU/U of A football game thread for some excuses, all the talk about how you would have won if your quarterback and runningback didnt get hurt, well sorry to break it to you but they did get hurt and we won. I guess you could say that you would have beat Houston if you scored more points than them, but you didnt so deal with it. I dont ever recall asking for your forgiveness, don't act like you are some kind of expert. What a joke...Go Devils.

I bet the spread because this is the exact type of game Arizona has struggled in recently.

2000 - Purdue 72 (1) Arizona 69
LSU 86 (5) Arizona 60
2002 - (1) Arizona 89 San Diego St. 81
LSU 66 (1) Arizona 65
2003 - (8) Arizona 68 Saint Louis 67
2004 - Virginia 78 Arizona 60

And Devilpride, considering you probably never seen Arizona play this year, I'd hold off on the judgments. The Cats will win at least twenty games and go to the NCAA Tournament again. And they'll be a Nat'l Championship contender a few more times between now and the end of the decade although not likely this year. But keep changingt he subject to football if you want to. I can't wait until the thread on the Nobodygivesacrap.com Bowl.

I didnt change the subject, it was your homeboy Boondockdrunk that got a little defensive and threw it in there. Trust me I've seen U of A play plenty.

Then you've seen an Arizona team that is playing outstanding defense and is just struggling putting the ball in the hoop. Does anyone think this will continue to be a problem with Lute's track record of coaching explosive offenses and with the talent on the roster?

When you're Arizona losing to Houston is inexcusable, but in the end it's nothing to get too concerned over. This team may have lost to Houston, but they're also the same team that had leads over Top 10 teams in UCONN and Michigan State late in the second half and who easily handled decent power conference teams like Kansas and Virginia.

I am still waiting for DevilPrideBAS to prove that I am wrong about UofA fans playing off that we knew we would lose.

MaoTosiFanClub placing money on Houston wouldn't reflect knowing we would lose. He meerly bet the spread.
