    Boris Diaw is completely worthless.

Leander said tonight that D'Antoni was yelling at Diaw, and also confirmed that the coaches specifically told him to turn it up a notch. LB said something revealing in the post-game interview when asked about Diaw. He said Diaw was great and all he needed was confidence. Something about the...

    Nash in the record books

It's not really a record, but I'm guessing he's got to be the "most improved" player over the course of a career.

    Skinner Impresses In Warriors Game

Skinner looking better and better -- another good night against the Pacers. I was curions to see how his stats this season compare against his career. Short answer: similar numbers, but fewer minutes per game this year, so actually better this year than over his career. This year: 12.2...

    Boris Diaw is completely worthless.

Looks like nobody has yet commented on the most interesting Diaw tidbit from tonight's game: in a loose ball scramble after a Suns' block, Diaw tried to pick up the ball (either awkwardly or half-heartedly -- I couldn't tell which) rather than hit the floor, and it would up in Indiana's...

Suns at Pacers Game Thread 7:00et MY45HD

Started out as a blowout, turned into a great game at the end. It's frustrating to see a big lead disappear, but I'm not sure I really blame the Suns -- sometimes it just happens. Suns were just 3 of 16 from the 3 -- if a few of those fall, it never gets close. And the defense was actually...

    Boris Diaw is completely worthless.

Wow. I've generally been a Diaw defender, but I admit I didn't realize his numbers last year were that low. I still like what he brings, but I guess I can see how people would want something more for the money.

    Boris Diaw is completely worthless.

Has everyone forgotten that Diaw played early this season with TWO sprained ankles? His numbers actually compare pretty favorably with Hill's and Bell's -- fewer points, but more assists. He may pass up a layup or two each game, but at least he does so in an effort to set up a teammate with a...

    Suns @ Knicks game thread - Sun. Dec. 2, 2007 - 5 PM - My45 HD

The game looked a lot closer than it really was. The Suns jumped to a 14 point lead in the first quarter, gave it all back and led by just one to start the 4th, and then promptly ran it back up to 16. In short, the Suns were doubling the Knicks when they cared to, and were clearly coasting in...

    Duncan injures Knee!!!

What? This post is an embarrassment to Suns fans. I don't want Duncan or any other player injured, and I can't believe anyone else would, either. If and when we beat the Spurs, I want them to be at full strength. Otherwise, what good is it? Besides which, Duncan seems like a genuinely...

Orlando at Phoenix Game Thread -- Nov 30th, 7:00 pm -- FSN HD

My thoughts on the game: 1. Lesson learned -- don't go to Nash for clutch FT's with the game on the line. 2. Bell's best game of the year by far -- in fact, I'd say Bell's first really good game this year. I wasn't sure about putting him back in as a starter with LB playing so well, but I...

    Nash's streak ends

Nice streak, but geez, Steve, do you have to end it with a critical miss and the game on the line? :-) Great streak, but I'm glad it's over, in a way. I couldn't bear to watch him at the line for the last few games, and it was getting to be a distraction (to me, at least -- I'm not sure...

    Rockets at Suns Game Thread

My thoughts on the game: 1. LB's shooting was awful, and has been since Bell's return. Bell's shooting is also not yet up to par. I think the season will rise or fall on whether those two return to form -- and I think they will. 2. Nash played brilliantly in the fourth quarter. If...

    Rockets at Suns Game Thread

By my count, the Suns have two quality wins (Cleveland and Orlando). Chicago looked good at the time but not now, and the first win against Houston was with TMac. This will be a good test game for the Suns. Rockets 98 Suns 110

    For Three

Last time I checked, Hill was shooting 33% from 3 if you ignore his 1 for 7 in game one. He has a smooth shot, and I can't see any reason why he shouldn't be able to shoot the 3 well with time.

    For Three

This seems plausible, but I actually thought longer rebounds favored the offense on the theory that the defense will likely capture any short rebounds because they are able to block out, whereas longer rebounds are more of a matter of luck. But I don't have any data either way, so you may be right.

    Nash Free Throws

If my math is right, Nash would be ahead of Price (and first all time) if he had sunk just 12 more of his 2213 career FT attempts. That sounds incredibly close until you realize that he only missed 25 out of 247 attempts for all of last season. The margin for error is miniscule. Even more...

    Nash Free Throws

Does anyone happen to know what the longest streak of free throws is to start a season? Nash must be getting close . . . .

    Tunnel vision of Suns coach

I hate losing any game, but I'm not sure I see the point of changing our whole approach just to beat one team in one regular season game. Ironically, this is exactly the same thinking that other teams have against the Suns, and I think it's a big part of why the Suns rack up so many regular...

    Suns at Warriors Game Thread

Exactly. Watching this game, I kept thinking, "This must be how other teams feel when they play the Suns." And I have to admit, it was pretty discouraging -- fast break dunks and layups on turnovers, three-point shots that seemingly couldn't miss, and shots that went up before the defense even...

    For Three

I'm genuinely puzzled by this. A 33% shooter shooting a 3 is worth 1 point, on average. Ignoring secondary effects like chance for rebound, foul, etc., it's the same as a 50% shot at a 2. Checking ESPN's offense statistics, I see that Phoenix averages 1.28 points per shot, which implies that...

    For Three

If the difference between 39.9% and 37% is only 2 points a game, I'm not sure how much this matters. Yes, it might mean a game or two, plus or minus, but in terms of affecting how teams defend the Suns, I don't think anybody is going to revamp their defense to account for a couple of percentage...

    Clippers at Suns Game Thread

My thoughts on the game: 1. I am absolutely loving Grant Hill on this team. 20 points on only 18 shots tonight, and it seemed that a lot of his scoring came during stretches when nobody else could get it going. I think what I like best, though, is that he WASN'T here last season. The rest...

    Kings at Suns Game Thread

My thoughts on the game: 1. Another amazing offensive performance with Bell out of the game. Hmm . . . . I'm not drawing any conclusions about anything, but it sure makes you wonder. Yes, LB gives you great scoring and energy off the bench. But on the other hand, Bell would give you great...

Skinner Establishing Himself As The 8th Man

A small but maybe telling sign tonight: When D'Antoni rested the starters to play the bench in the fourth quarter, he sat Skinner and put in Marks. I read that as moving Skinner away from the kiddie table and sitting him with the grown-ups.

    Referee Incompetence Thread

This really could be a long thread. I have to say, I actually have less of a problem with "blown" calls than with unconscious bias. If the refs just miss a call, like yesterday with the buzzer, I just think of it as the equivalent of a random bad bounce of the ball or something. I figure they...
