    OT: Congrats to Chuck Cecil!!!

Somehow, I only remember one of them making the cover of SI for potentialy being "too vicious for the NFL" because he kept leading with his helmet.

Let's take a guy who seems to be too dumb to play defense and put him on offense!

    Cards Talking To Martz?

No. 2008 Cardinals: 340 rushes to 630 passing attempts 1999 Rams: 431 rushes to 530 passing attempts You're reporting the pass completion numbers as attempts. The Cardinals this year did pass 64.9% of the time, more than any Martz team... except for the 2002 Rams, who were also at 64.9%...

    Cards Talking To Martz?

No, there would be others out there from the same offensive school as Whisenhunt who would use a similar approach and the same terminology. I'm no scholar of that system, so I don't know who that would be. But I know it's not Mike Martz.

Kerry Collins(apparently on crack) wants more than Warner

What numbers are you looking at? Passer rating of 80.2 isn't exactly inspiring to me. The 58.3% completions? The 6.4 average per attempt? The only place he looked good was in the won-loss column, and that's more to do with a stifling defense and a great running game than it is with a...

    Could this be 1999 x 10

Yup. That said, what they did last year is a definite argument for bringing someone in who would be okay with being as flexible as they were last year. I get the feeling that an awful lot of that flexibility came from Whisenhunt, though, so that's probably a given regardless.

    Madden's Pro Bowl comments

I wonder what percentage of fans even knows that at this point. Heck, I wonder what percentage of fans know that the guy changed football commentating in the '80s by really explaining and teaching the fans about what was going on on the field. So much of what he did was copied and became...

    Cards Talking To Martz?

Why is anybody bringing Martz's name up? Seriously, why? Every passing offense isn't the same. They have different philosophies, different terminologies, and different approaches. Martz's offense is rooted in the schemes of Sid Gillman and Don Coryell. (Coryell should be familiar to old...

Somers reports that Cards may promote from within to replace Haley

Would probably make a lot of sense to promote from within. They don't need somebody coming in with their own system and new ideas to fix the offense. They just need somebody to continue what's been in place, do what Whisenhunt wants, and call plays. The wild card is the situation with Warner...

    KC Trade Idea

Yup. I imagine the Cardinals brass is very, very conflicted about whether they want him to come back. As a Warner fan, I'm pretty conflicted about it too.

This Organization has made a Statement

I don't think so. Definitely not Dallas. The only Dallas coach to lose a Super Bowl was Tom Landry, and he didn't get fired for 10 years after the last one.

This Organization has made a Statement

An example of blindly following the naming conventions being a bad idea. One word was part of the vocabulary of millions, one obscure. Both were based on incomplete and/or erroneous work by O.C. Marsh. And sadly, the official name's meaning is crappy, while the other name is awesome...

Who should be our new Offensive Coorindator?

If you want to make sure Warner doesn't come back, sure. So that'd be a positive for a few people, but probably not most. :D

The official Q trade watch thread...

I very much doubt it. I also very much doubt that Warner has leverage, or thinks he has leverage with retirement. The team wouldn't want him signing somewhere else next year because that would look bad, but him choosing to call it quits? They have their QB of the future primed, signed, and...

My question... what's Dilfer know about handling success? Only time his squad had success, they got rid of him the next year.

    Edge already gone--not that it's a surprise

Edge produced the best YPC in his time with the Cardinals this last season, at 3.9. I thought he was done after the 3.4 in 2006, to be honest. The 3.8 and 3.9 he's had the last two years weren't good, but they weren't awful. In retrospect, I'd say the 2006 numbers were about the offensive...
